Theoretically speaking, I believe type is supposed to be pure nature. Environmental modifications can influence your apparent type, but you'll always have the same natural state.
Practically speaking, nothing about MBTI is empirical, and the fact that types don't apply until a certain age...
I agree. On top of being a very valuable skill, I imagine foreign languages would be extremely easy to market in this keyword-crazy society. If that's what interests you at the moment, go for it.
Some people really are like that, though. They are completely open with their emotions, and every little thing around them will garner a reaction. At first, I thought these people were all faking. But I only thought that because I would have to be faking to act that way.
Eventually I realized...
Self-confidence is knowing/suspecting that you can do something, whether through experience, logical assessment, or ignorance. This is usually a positive trait, but it's possible to be over-confident.
Arrogance is the belief that you are objectively better than someone else. Sometimes this is...
How did they type themselves? If they just took some free online tests, there's a good chance of being mistyped. Try to see if they actually understand the functions involved.
Also, what about them specifically strikes you as un-INTP?
It's the other way around, usually. I'm totally willing to talk to people unless I'm in a particularly somber mood. That's not to say the conversation will last very long, of course.
"Yeah, I figured out a plausible explanation for life and the universe. No I don't remember what it was. Let me think for a second."
Too close to home, man. -_-
The math requirements for a CS degree are actually somewhat low. Probably the only thing you'll need to do at above a high school level is Discrete Math, which is an INTP's dream course. Things like Calc and Trig get very little use.
The only other thing I remember using is Linear Algebra, and...
Yeah... it'll probably be weird.
My dad's an ISTJ (I'm pretty sure). We get along fine, but everything about our communication is awkward. Neither of us can carry a conversation, so silence is abundant. His advice is poorly delivered and rubs every part of me the wrong way. His hobbies are...
I don't think that's actually what's happening. At least, not on a personal or cultural level.
Higher education may be getting less intellectual, but I think that's probably a symptom of the education inflation that's been going on for years now.
Linus' blankie feels like Si to me, so I'd take INTP between those two.
Lucy's a pretty solid ENTJ.
Snoopy... feels like everything's extroverted, tbh. Ne imagination, Se dancing, and Fe laughing/expressions.
I don't think applies all the way across the spectrum, though. Sure, there's an arbitrary point below which your lack of money becomes stressful, which in turn can cause unhappiness. But excess income above that threshold seems to have little positive effect on overall happiness.
Eh, not always. Right now I guess I am, because I'm thinking about your words and my words. When I'm doing something like computer programming, not so much.
This does happen sometimes. Every once in a while I just start laughing at something I thought of, which can obviously get some weird...
Well, we INTPs do love to sit around doing nothing all day. And since making money generally involves the opposite of that...
I'm not sure that sort of instant gratification really qualifies as happiness, though.
OP, have you been paying much attention to the smaller-budget side of the industry? There's plenty of great 2D stuff being made that might tickle your fancy.
Edit: Also, Awaken, that was awesome.
Exactly. Either you can't remember the point you were going to make, or the conversation goes completely off track and never comes back. People don't want to listen to a comprehensive "wall o' text". They'd rather exchange witty anecdotes about whatever.
Hmm. I guess the internet and real life...
I realize that most of this thread is well over a year old, but I can't help but laugh at everyone talking about expressing their Fe through dancing. Sure, Fe makes us want to physically express the emotion we derive from music, but dancing (especially club dancing) is far and away an Se...
Yeah, I occasionally take over a conversation when the topic turns to something I actually care about. I'll lay out my entire thought process for everyone to hear, which is probably quite extensive. It's rare that I actually get to finish, though, because most people don't want understanding as...
Exactly. This is also why INTPs are so difficult to type at a glance. That Ne looks waaaay different than the Ti we usually use. We also do the chameleon thing, but I'm not sure if that's tied to Ne or not.
Yep, this happens pretty frequently. The most common occurrence involves me absent-mindedly driving part of the way home before realizing that's not where I need to go.
I'll go ahead and agree with you, but I wouldn't say that this is a huge source of distress for me. The meaning of someone's words is usually pretty clear, regardless of accuracy.
There are, of course, situations where being technically correct is important, and in those cases I'll do my best...
