    Music or Lyrics?

There are some bands which I listen to often enough to know that their lyrics are worth paying attention to; Tool and Rush come to mind. Generally, though, I pay attention to the music until I heart a lyric which catches my attention enough to listen to it.

Bands you only seem to know

+1 for Porcupine Tree I need to find more unknown bands because there is a lot of good music to be had. That said, I'm always amazed at how either unknown or underrated Rush is. That band actually (no joke) changed my life.

    C# Recommended Books

I just wrote a bass groove in C#m... But yeaaaa programming isn't my gig, but the "For Dummies" books are usually a good starting place if you don't know what to get.

Music Games - Guitar Hero and Such

They can be fun. No substitute for real instruments. I know someone who is obsessed with the thing and thinks that he can play drums because he plays rock band drums (mediocrely). I find it funny that when I play, I usually play the bass part. I pluck the string button with two fingers like I...

    Why Ayn Rand?

I used to think her philosophy was perfect, but now I see it as a bit idealized, yet very interesting none the less. I've read Anthem a while back and I'm working on The Fountainhead right now. I am extremely drawn to the character of Howard Roark. Just about every line he has my response is...

    CROWDS AND/OR SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

Brilliant thread. When walking about in a crowd, I tend to never know what to do with my eyes and hands. Eye contact feels awkward and forced, so I've taken to either staring blankly ahead, at the ground, or by scanning my surroundings. The problem I then encounter is the feeling that people...

    Troubles with Compliments?

A lot of people tell me that I'm either a good-to-great photographer and/or bass player, and I'm never really sure how to respond, because in my own mind I'm nowhere near as good as I think I should be. Maybe I'm just harsh on myself, but I usually respond with either an agreeable but awkward...

    Dog living without his body

On one hand its an awesome feat of science, on the other hand who the hell would cut up a living dog to try and revive its peices? Try it with a dead dog.

    In a perfect world...

I guess my perfect self would be an xNTP, where I could modulate at will between introversion and extroversion, but I'd rather not be an SFJ of any sort.

    5 Favorite Bands/Music Artists

Yea, I'd have to agree, the music itself does indeed resonate very well with both myself (intp) and my intp friend.

    5 Favorite Bands/Music Artists

In no particular order Rush (They got me into music in the first place and are absolutely brilliant musicians) Tool (The artistic expressiveness, talent, and themes of this band never cease to amaze me) Porcupine Tree (Musically, they're all about the groove, which I love. The lyrics can be...

I'm a bit afraid to be here...

^ I like the way the orange contrasts with the gray. I think its much more soothing to the eyes and is actually a bit easier to read. Neither has too much nor too little contrast.

    What websites do you frequent?

The sites I frequent always shifts around in phases, but heres the sites that I have frequented in the past six months - bimmerforums.com off topic section (I used to have a bmw, but I sold it and I still hang out in the ot forum over there) - therushforum.com (yea I'm pretty much obsessed...

I'm a bit afraid to be here...

Don't expect that to change. I'm 20 and I feel the same exact way. I find that I'm usually either way more mature or way less mature than my peers, though I've learned to act mature (especially around people I don't know well or am just getting to know) even if I've got a five year old jumping...

    Salvia

The stuff is nutty. I've been experimenting with it on and off and have had some interesting experiences. I've never done acid or shrooms, just smoke pot, so I can't really compare it to any other hallucinogen. I see it as something of a stepping stone to DMT, which I will try at some...

    Which INTP type are you?

PITN-"the reed in the wind" Skilled in the evasive arts, these are one of the physical subtypes. Their sense of physical evasion echoes in the chameleon nature of their soul. ^^ Anyone care to explain that description a bit more? Perceiving 100% Introverted 93% Thinking 85% Intuitive 68%

    MBTI an Illusion?

When I first took the MBTI test (out of curiosity) and got INTP, I was of course skeptical. I was reading the description thinking "Holy crap, this is pretty dead on accurate, but it must all be a load of bullocks." The I read something like "INTPs may even question their own INTP-ness or the...

    Terabyte Hard Drives

I remember reading that when IBM came out with a 5 megabyte hard drive (that was the size of a small refrigerator) that they thought no one would EVER have a use for that much space. I also remember my first computer (circa 1997) having a 2GB hard drive and wondering how I would ever use all...

    INTPs and Stress

I'm not one who is quick to stress, but when something does manage to stress me out, I usually try to think about it logically. What is the problem? How do I deal with it? Whats the worst that can happen? How would I deal with that? So on.. Generally, stress doesn't make much sense to me. I try...
