I think I've guessed your son's name correctly, but unless your name ends with Dyln, I haven't the faintest idea what yours is. Welcome, by the way. :1

My sons isn't that hard. Mine? I will give you a hint. The first name starts with "R" and the last starts with "T".

Good luck! :D

I'm following Wisp and Fernando's examples a few pages back...I've posted here before, but my answers have changed since my extended absence.
That and I'm bored.
(P.S, tell me if my post-formatting gets on anyone's nerves. .__. )

What Is Your Name?
Just call me Chimera...you'll forget my actual name anyway.

Where Are You From?
East coast U.S., somewhat near D.C.
My paranoia doesn't allow me to specify any more. Not for a few more years, at least.

How Old Are You?
Fourteen.
Yes, fourteen. I turn fifteen next March.

What's Your Gender?
Female.

How Did You Find Out You Are An INTP?
Took a test online about four years ago. I was borderline IN(T/F)P then, I think it was 54% T. I took the test again a few months ago and turned out to be 80-something% T.

How Did You Find This Forum?
Clicked some links. This is the only forum that sparked my interest, though. It's also the first one I came across.

Do You Have A Partner/Lover?
Nahhh...I prefer to stay out of that until the "right time" (i.e. when the people at school have calmed their horomones down a bit and can hold up a debate without resorting to saying "your mom" and "your face" every two seconds.)

Do You Have Any Kids?
I've got 12 chillin's in th' back of th' trailer--
I'm fourteen, cripes.

Do You Have Any Pets?
Two kitties. A doggy. A parakeet...y.

Which Hobbies Absorb You The Most?
Writing, drawing, creating and listening to music, photography, taking random walks wherever/whenever I feel like it (I didn't know our town had a 10:30 curfew for minors...that got me into trouble once...) musing about psychology, Gamecube, DDR, Rockband...my favorite game at the moment is Okami. Second favorite is Katamari Damacy.

How Do You Generate An Income?
Yardwork.
:P
I could ask for pay from this volunteer job I have at the local wildlife aviary, where I take care of the hawks/owls/snakes/eagle, but I like working there for free.

Hardest Thing About Being An INTP?
The non-INTPs.

Reason For Living?
Ahaha. Interesting question. I'm permanently on a quest for happiness and knowledge; that's what I base my decisions off of.

Welcome to the forum Idigress. May i ask what type of 'school' you go to with 33? (If it is for the learning i only can gratulate you, since it seems to interest you)

Chimera: I like your post-formatting, it is different from standard. I mean, i overlook the little hearts, but else it is nice to the eyes and easy to read. Let's the eyes free from the tense one-direction stare you normally have when reading longer texts on a screen ;)

I like my little hearts. );
But I'll leave them off if they're too cutesy for you.
(That and I always forget to add them anyway...besides, hearts in the signature and actual post is kinda overkill.)
. . .
Dangit. You're right.

You should do something with your posts. It's fun. (:

Dont stop!
Its quite a find that an INTP cares and makes the effort to make things pretty. Most of us only see the content and ignore the presentation, but then we end up with a gray boring forum.

It probably results from me aspiring to go into art or graphic design when I'm older.
But. I'm trying to be careful, 'cause I don't want a horde of angry INTPs blaming me for frying their eyes out with colorful post decoration.
. . . And the content is what makes this grey forum non-boring. D:

I meant visually boring, of course.

Graphic design is cool, I actually tried it but : Procrastination + a lot of assignments + they made me draw stuff I didnt care about= Bad result.
I hope it goes better for you.

Ooh. That doesn't sound good.
I've never actually taken an art class before (besides digital photography). I learned everything on my own, with a few tips from my sister.
I don't know how I'd fare with the whole "draw this now or you fail the class" thing.
I'd probably end up drawing a smiley face and just turn that in. The teacher might fail me, but at least I can say that I tried to make them happy.

It was not so good because it was me, and it was here, it doesnt necesarily have anything to do with what you could experience there. Just dont procrastinate and you will be fine :p

You just told an INTP to not procrastinate.
Are you soft in the head? o:

I dunno, I'm interested in a few things, and I don't have to choose a career for a while.
As long as I don't end up in the fast-food business for my entire life, I'm good.

Ogion;;
I love the word just but I use it too much. It's just so much fun. ;P
What brought that up, exactly? Just felt like being random?

My remark about 'just' came from Dissidents phrase 'just don't procrastinate'. I found it as unrealistic as you obviously did.
Be happy about the fact that you don't have to choose a career yet. I have my problems with that for the moment. Or say for the foreseeable future. I'm studying at university and thus making debt. But the problem is that i can't see what my future will be like, as most other students here do.

A man can dream :)

Actually this =>:p at the end of the sentence meant I was joking by puting it as an easy thing, like I said, I had a lot of trouble because of it myself. However, we dont have to give up on what we consider to be flaws and/or get in the way of what we want to do, its not easy but it IS posible to not procrastinate, its a matter of dicipline. Take it as a challenge, as a matter of pride, a test of will.

Yeah, I'm not really worried about the future per se. . .I know I'll be able to get by. I just hate all the pressure that's put onto us to figure out what we're going to do in the future RIGHT NOW, because apparently otherwise WE WILL DIE.
Or something to that effect.
I was never good at those "What are you going to be when you grow up" questions when I was a kid. Everyone else was like "Professional athelete!" "Teacher!" "Astronaut!"
So I just sat in the back and played with the classroom pet. . .
Ah, good times.

Edit: I used "just" twice. I think you cursed me. D:

Dissident;;
I'll discipline myself out of my procrastination!
. . .tomorrow. ;P
That's a good idea, though, thinking of it as a challenge. Even if it sounds impossible.
I almost envy the disciplined people though. They're so efficient at everything.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I was googling those 'what character are you?' tests, when on some random forum someone linked an MBTI test. I came out INTP, and the description fit me nearly perfectly.

How did you find out about this forum?

I was browsing another type forum (I think INFPgc) looking for their perspectives on INTPs, when someone mentioned this forum (and how its 'better' than INTPc).

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope

Do you have any kids?

A bit too young.... just a bit...

Do you have any pets?

2 cats, and 2 dogs.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

MBTI... anime and manga, video games, music.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Probably that there are so few people I can connect with, people just aren't interested in the abstract topics and debates I enjoy. Also annoying is my inability to get my homework done, causing me to get in trouble.

Digging up the dead... sorry!

Where are you from?
I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina
(oh, im so sad. There is a girl who posted in the first page of this thread who is from Buenos Aires as well, but she hasnt been active for 4 months :()

That's Madrigal, she's always been very active on INTPCentral.com, maybe you could find her there?

... My couselor says he thinks it is virtually impossible for an INTP to survive in a Baptist setting. I had a philosophy professor (who was a christian) who always said that "we must follow the truth, even if the truth leads us away from Christ." I guess I am just looking for truth.

Based on the other public conversations we've had, this all makes more sense now. (It's interesting to read this thread now that I actually know some people a bit, I have context.)

I honestly don't know how INTPs can make a stringent baptist approach work. I still believe that the "revelatory" approach to conservative faith is completely counter to the typical INTP methodology of using Ne to connect data from the world in real-time to feed the judgment process. One embraces revelation and tries to overlay it on reality, the other approach uses reality and its implications to determine the truth.

What more can be said?

But in any case, this is why I reached the point I did as well. It was a lie for me to pretend to be something I was not, and I had enough integrity to finally be honest about where I was.

Your prof sounds pretty cool. :)

gray matters said:
I grew up in Washington D.C., moved to Frostburg mayrland, then to Harrisburg P.A. (otherwise known as the land of denial), then moved to Albuquerque N.M. then moved to New Orleans (I left 2 1/2 years before the hurricane wrecked the place) and now I live in Tomball Texas.
See bold.

Land of denial? Lol. Well, yes, but not the CITY part. Just the suburbs and rural areas around us!!! (and the city is rebuilding like mad, it's actually very cool now in 2008, as opposed to the late 80's and early 90's, from what I can tell).

What is your name?
My name is Sylzarra (I have a different given name but it gets dreary being called the same thing all the time). You can call me Syl if you wish.

Where are you from?
I’m originally from India (no I never rode an elephant, for some reason I always get asked that). However I moved to America at the age of 7.

How old are you?
I am 16, but I hardly act it. I’m described as an old maid by all my friends.

What's your gender?
Female. Although I can easily pass off as a guy with a bit of duct tape

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
Well a teacher of mine made my class take it a few years back, however the test claimed I was an INTJ. After reading a bit about the personality type from several sources I found that I was truly not INTJ because of my almost debilitating laziness. But INTP suits me very well.

How did you find out about this forum?
Well this question and the next fit together in an interesting and unfortunately pathetic way, so I’ll answer it in the next question.

Do you have a partner/lover?

*Big sigh* No…
I actually went on a date yesterday with a guy I’ve liked for years… It went horribly. I couldn’t keep up a good conversation with him and acted like a dolt. This morning while I was analyzing why my date turned out horribly my thoughts turned to my personality type as a possible reason for our incompatibility. While I was researching the idea on google I stumbled upon this site which I found refreshingly engaging and interesting… I still don’t quite know why things didn’t work out during the date though.

Do you have any kids?
I’m 16…
Do you have any pets?
Nope my mother has a horrible intolerance towards anything that doesn’t look and act like her. This includes animals and people who aren’t Indian.

Nope my mother has a horrible intolerance towards anything that doesn’t look and act like her. This includes animals and people who aren’t Indian.

Are you Indian? Just curious...:phear:

Yes, I don't actually watch that show anyway. I've only ever seen a few episodes, and that wasn't one of them.

What is your name?

I'll just stick with my screen name, thx

Where are you from?

Calgary, Alberta- that's in Canada people- sorry, I forget we're all the same personality type...

How old are you?

under 40, over 20

What's your gender?

Female

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

My parents are psychologists- I've been born into it

How did you find out about this forum?

a link at the bottom of my typeology results online

Do you have a partner/lover
yes, both

Do you have any kids?

2, boy and girl, 12 and 10

Do you have any pets?

2 dogs- they're his, not mine.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

camping, skiing, working out, hiking, writing, finding meaning in music

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Crowds of people- I woud love to go to the movies and not feel stifled by the trampling crowds of people. I usually end up shaking, screaming obsenities, and leaving angry. Why doesn't the regular public understand the "bubble" area. Personal space is a right dammit!

Feeling- I wish I could attempt to understand why a problem for someone is a problem, but inside, I just think- "Get over it. Solve it and move on"

Fear of failure- it's crippling.

Stupid people- please don't reduce me to coming down to that level. Consider joining me up here.

Best thing about being INTP?

Why has no one answered this? I love that if there is a problem to be solved, I will find every way to do it, and even some ways you didn't think were possible

the fact that spelling/grammar is so easy. It boggles me that people don't use to, two, too properly, or their, they're, there

I love that when I put my mind to something, that I can move mountains and I always get what I want. How rewarding!

What do you do to generate income?

I'm a regional manager for an international document mgmt company. All that means is I get paid to develop my people, work on team building and try to change the world which is mine.

Lastly, I'm an Architecht INTP, which is stated that I'm less than 1% of the population. Meh, not sure if that will hold up in court, but I'll try anything once! Nice to meet my fellow INTP's and not have to hide who I am! Hello!

I love this! My feelings exactly. I just want to hire someone to carry around a bullhorn behind me and say "Please step away from the INTP! There is nothing to see here! Move along!", but of course that would be calling to much attention to myself so its a bit of a paradox.

My wife refers to the bubble area as my "space" and calls herself my "space invader". I don't find that funny or cute in the slightest.

Anyway. Welcome, if I haven't already caused you to move on from here. :D

You're totally wrong. That's hilarious! :D

I suppose. In spite of protests, she continues to invade the bubble with hugs and cuddling and ................. I'm getting clausterphobic just thinking about it.

Is she a video game junkie? :p
Ogion

She has four brothers so she is intimately familiar with video games, but she absolutely, and I can't stress this enough, hates them! I play games under the cover of darkness.
