I've tried the first version of the devkit. It's nice.
You really do get a sense of being physically in the virtual space that you could never get from a flat screen.
Of course it's not a stand in for reality. But is it closer to a virtual reality than what we have had available so far...
and maybe others here will be as well.

(I might use this thread to keep posting more projects I find interesting)
Hmm, still not quite getting it.
What good is preparing for the future if the future may or may not happen?
I hate to echo various philosophies, but I can't help but thinking the only things of meaning take place in our current perceptions of the near present.
Maybe the problem is with the...
Right, good point.
I would still think of our current stability as a part of evolution though. I was really just trying to get at how the concept of going against evolution is a strange one.
@Cog
As far as I know there is a huge range in the conditions animals are kept before their...
I just want my hoverboard, damNit.
So what specifically is meaningful about being remembered? What is meaningful about something that hasn't happened yet?
"Future to live for" being a nice feeling you get in the present. The future is an idea, and the idea provides meaning?

Wait? So you don't make any conscious decisions about the food you eat?
"It's technically edible, In the mouth it goes!"
That sort of thing?
*shrug*
Evolution is an ongoing process, if humans stopped eating meat, we would become more and more adapted to being herbivores...
Re: creative wall thing...
I find it useful to have multiple things going at once, so if I get stuck, then I can just switch to another one. If I'm tired of drawing, switch to programming, etc.
Followed you on soundcloud. Some nice things.
I sometimes wonder what watching the show is like if you haven't read the books...
Very strange indeed. :ahh04:
:phear:
Continues observing from the shadows.
What are you getting at? That you like things that aren't dependant on _____ (I don't know goes here).
Video Games are a young medium, filled with cliches, but they are quickly expanding into territories that aren't explorable in any other mediums.
Besides that, there are plenty of...
I'm not saying we should try to make it happen, I'm saying we shouldn't worry if it does happen. You are saying we have some sort of control about whether it happens...
and we might a bit, I guess, but in the long run? Unlikely.
So what is your goal, preserve the planet for as long as...
Don't understand what you are saying...
I kind of like James Lovelock's "Gaia" theory... but I'm not completely sold.
Are you saying, I'm saying the planet is like a car? I'm not, I'm saying it's the opposite, and the idea that we have - or should have - control is absurd.
Ok. I guess I view...
Why is technological change seen as separate from biological change(in a big picture context)?
I didn't opt in to the way the world currently works, why would I expect that to change in the future?
Why don't I go around doing things that would obviously have negative consequences for me...
Humans are natural selection.
Are we mature enough for what? Not killing ourselves off? Maybe, probably not.
If we don't do it, we will just live until the sun burns out, and then we die anyway.(or in the nearer term, get hit by an asteroid).
Which way is better? Don't know. Morals again...
I watched minute 26 to 40. And a couple other random minutes.
So many strange and loaded assumptions in there...
Left brain right brain stuff... ha...
So many other things that had nothing to do with current technologies, but human power struggles in general.
"is this evolution?"...
I was reading a bunch about this...
A lot of game developers feeling negative about it. But, I agree it miiiight be good in the long term.
Personally I'm no longer planning on ordering one until it's much more clear about the direction facebook is going to steer things. I was excited about...
1. Don't read the comments.
2. Comment threads are not good places for debate.
3. Those people are not debating. Obligatory jokes are apparently obligatory(even if old/not funny).
3. Don't read the comments.
(I don't disagree with you from a logical standpoint... )
Because making logically consistent fiction about the future is almost impossible(good authors don't necessarily overlap with good scientists, etc) does that mean they shoul... oh nevermind, not what you were saying /tangent
The crux...
Hallos,
The desire to be hyper-rational, could be you coming to terms with and developing your Te(extraverted thinking) function.
Anyway, welcome to the posting side of the forum.
Not that it necesarrily means anything, but your posts seem to be Intuition heavy when I stick them in here:

If you put intpforum.com in, you get ISTP as the result. :cthulhu:
Everything? Everything I saw that I happened to notice when I was at the location anyway. Obviously it fades over time, but...
I can also construct new images based on the memories. Exploring and playing with it in my head. Imagining it from above, spinning it, zooming in and out, etc...
Memory: Hmmm, I'm familiar with that method, but when I've tried to use it, it hasn't worked terribly well. Maybe I just haven't tried hard enough. When I try to apply things that aren't naturally connected to each other, it gets all jumbled in my head because it's such an arbitrary...
This only happens with people I am fairly comfortable with, and usually only in 1 on 1 scenarios.
I'm never the one that ends the conversation. If it's an interesting topic/or can be analyzed in interesting ways, I will not stop, until the other person exits.
Some people are surprised...
You are doing a good job of convincing me of my own possible ISTP ness...
:p
I can identify with a lot of what you are saying... except the memory thing. I feel like I have a pretty extensive visual/detail based memory, especially compared to most people I talk about past experiences with...
