Ok so FINALLY got burned out on Grand Theft Auto V. Damn that was a fun game.

Other games I've loved: Call of Duty (burned out, all same now), Doom 3, Arkham City.

What I loved so much about FPS and GTA V, was the freedom and the really responsive game controls.

I bought The Last of Us, and graphics are good, story's pretty good, but I've basically been going around, looking for ladders and pressing triangle. Same with Hitman: Absolution, was kinda fun at first, but got repetitive.

God how I wish O wish they were making a Doom 4. Doom 3 is still the scariest, fast paced FPS I have ever played, ever.

So that's what I like, face-paced, requiring quick reflexes (NOT button mashing like God of War, which is OK). doesn't necessarily have to be horror or dark.

Any ideas?

I'm trying a month free gamefly subscription, which I've done before. DEFINITELY the way to go.

It's all crap, focus on real life achievements instead.

Yes, the secret unlocking procedure is to fill a bathtub with water,
unplug your PS3 from the power supply and throw it into the water.
Voila.

Haha. ok!!

Actually, I was going to take my PS3 out to my buddy's and put about 33 hollow points in it with my glock 19, and film it, but he didn't pick up the phone.

I had such a short window : (

The Infamous series is pretty good. A lot like GTA series, but with super powers.

If you want to try out an action RPG, Dragon's Dogma or Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, are both really fun. Not ps3 exclusive, but still good.

Kill Zone is supposed be a good FPS. I don't like FSP, but you mentioned one.

Uncharted, the whole series if you can. There is some button mashing for the cinematic scenes if I remember correctly( definitely not like GoW) but it's also a platformer with puzzles & shooting.

Erh... you get Id Software's other game Rage firstly ofc? Install on the hard drive and go. Then you get Dark Souls or perhaps you take on the Bioshock installment.

Curious if you feel this way about other mediums; books, movies, etc?

If not, perhaps you just haven't played any games that are interesting enough.

No, i don't quite feel the same way about other mediums.
For instance, Dostoevsky was not so much reliant on the established book manufacturers of his time as other western writers were,
similarily, Tarkovsky as a producer of artistic films was not very much in competition to, let's say Terminator or Rambo.

What are you getting at? That you like things that aren't dependant on _____ (I don't know goes here).

Video Games are a young medium, filled with cliches, but they are quickly expanding into territories that aren't explorable in any other mediums.

Besides that, there are plenty of non-serious games just for, you know, "fun". Maybe you have heard of it?

He's an intellectual snobby pants. Anything produced in the last 100 years is too "mainstream." The idea that a video game such as Grand Theft Auto 5 could be not only fun, but a profound and hilarious satire on modern american culture, something Voltaire would smile at, is ludicrous to him.

Hmm, whatever you make out of it. Not forcing. Just trying to get you aquainted with the idea.

Surrogate activity goes similarly for movies and books. Even for knowledge. I don't see any point in defining what is obvious these times.

OP: Final Fantasy VI
Dark Souls

Tried Rage AND Bioshock before, too much scene cuts, storyline. I just want to get in and play. Havn't tried Dark Souls.

I REALLY want to play the new PS4 game Outlast, it's apparently terrifying. Alas, even the Man part of my mostly Manchildishness knows I don't have the money for a PS4 right now.

"Surrogate activity", google it.

Yeah, otherwise known as a "hobby." I'm confused, are you saying hobbies are a waste of time? It sounds like you're saying hobbies are a waste of time.

Don't know if anyone still cares, haha, but I finally found what I was looking for, Dead Space 3. Dark horror science fiction, responsive controls, cool weapons, badass.

Dark Souls is very much all play; sure, you get to level and manage equipment, but there are no cutscenes. The game is difficult, you benefit from quick reflexes and being able to keep your cool under pressure.

Yeah, I think I watched some YouTube gameplay. Looked cool, might try that next.

Fallout 3,Fallout New Vegas, all excellent choices my man. I'm not paid by bethesda but their games are perfect for me. Unfortunately Fallout is a little buggy though.

New Vegas was made by Obsidian. That's why it's better than anything Besthesda ever made.

True, with the exception of TES III, imo.

I will use this opportunity to ask my own question.

Can you recommend good TRPG, strategy, RPG games on PS3?
I liked (from other consoles too):
-Demon Souls
-Tales of series (especially Symphonia/Eternia)
-Final Fantasy VI and IX (I didn't like the rest I tried, X and VII were decent but not enough to keep me playing)
-Disgaea (I gave up as I didn't have enough time and I could easily beat any opponent)
-Valkyria Chronicles (I loved that game, especially the mechanics, the plot was a cliche but decent)

And a second question:
Can you recommend a good 2 pad game on a shared screen? It needn't belong to the above genres, it needs to be engaging/fun. I only have soul calibur.

Dungeon Keeper III works, it's crap single player but fun with 2 players on max difficulty. Not a super game by any means but solid coop experience.

It's been so long since I played on a console :P

Xcom Enemy Unknown is a great game. That's one I really recommend, though I played it on PC.

Other than that I can only think of obvious stuff like Dark Souls and Dragon Age.

Edit: Oh yeah, for coop try Castle Crashers, I had a lotta fun playing through that with a friend, it can't cost much.
