Meanwhile, I've found some new material and it's getting harder and harder to type him. I'm beginning to agree with you.
Also some people have commented that he does the whole inflated ego thing on purpose and is just so subtly ironical that people don't get it.
Here's some INTP-ish things he...
Hum.... because people should work for free for the betterment of humanity. Obviously we'd all be better off if everyone could find a 'proper date' on a 'proper' dating site, because we wouldn't have to listen to people complaining?
Anyway, what I'd like to know is why a site that offers...
Since when do you need to be rude and make immature ad hominem comments in order to be a genuine INTP? Doesn't say that in any of the profiles I've read. But maybe that's just me being retarded.
Yeah, everyone who isn't as subjective and introverted as you is crazy or evil.
You're the only one who's complaining, so why should anyone else do something about this problem?
I'll second that.
Go on and add me to the list of all those who hate nanook. And psychoanalyze me as well, please, I...
An INTP female (or male) for that matter would be far too bashful to 'reveal' themselves.... Except if they somehow did it by accident because they didn't know what it was.
OK, so far, the ISFP on personalitycafe has said that he's definitely not an ISFP and has posted a video of Brad Pitt. He's supposed to be an ISFP and he does say a lot of Fi things, like he feels his way around the character and it just felt real etc.
No ISTP has turned up yet. So..... I'll...
He sure is :) And it would probably be easier for an extrovert to play introverts than the other way round. I've enlisted an INTP and some ISFPs and ISTPs on personalitycafe to analyse an interview with him. Let's see what they think.
Yeah, I'm waiting for the third season, too.
I've never been to a con, but I watched some on youtube and yes "attention whore" captures it quite well. But I know some INTPs who can hijack a conversation quite well and tell their little anecdotes.
Sooooooo, what species of extrovert would he...
Yeah, I guess that's the main problem with actors: they all get induced to talk the same kind of trash about how awesome they are or some crap about their show. So it's hard to catch any cognitive functions. Hum..... I've seen this longish interview where he's relatively relaxed, I'll study it...
OK, I'll try to find a full episode another time.
Yeah, I agree with Data and the Vulcans being a mix of types.
Brent (not in the show, in interviews) seems to me like an INTP who gets a bit cranky and patronizing because of too much exposure to the public. I think he wants to entertain people...
Hum ... Architect, just to be argumentative: Got any arguments against Brent Spiner being an INTP? What else could he be?
ISTP?
INFP?
ISFP?
INTJ?
I ...?
E.....?
some kind of jerk
I'm genuinely interested because I'm not sure I know any ISTPs, ISFPs or INFPs in real life.
Erast Fandorin
I get a sense of INTP-ness from him, although he might be an INTJ. I'm rubbish at spotting my own species. LOL, most people won't know him anyway ....
I like the way he makes fun of himself. OK, this isn't obvious from the show itself, but there's a T-Shirt that says "At least I'm not Brent Spiner" and he wears it himself at cons.
Also, the character develops later on and says that he's been too self-obsessed and should be happy that he's got...
Have any of you guys watched this?
http://www.freshhellseries.com/home/category/video/
It's a free-to-watch sitcom by Brent Spiner (although he calls it a sit-trag). He plays himself after his career has been ruined by "the incident".
I stumbled upon it yesterday and found it hilarious. And...
Yes, that's probably true. But it also depends very much on the education system of the country. E.g. I read that in the US, INTPs are the most likely type to learn a foreign language. But it's not compulsory there. An INTP friend of mine in Germany is a linguist. Languages are compulsory there...
Shyness and awkwardness can be dead cute! It makes for a nice contrast with INTP logic as well.
But if it's this kind of shyness, it can make things too complicated
In other words, as long as the other person can tell that you are shy, they might find it cute or just normal. But when you...
One doesn't deal with society, one deals with individuals.
'Society' is an excuse that sheeple make up so they don't have to use their own head. Society is everyone assuming that others have expectations of them, which they might or might not have. 'Society' is anticipatory obedience to...
I don't know much about consciousness, but I never understood why some people say "Oh, animals are just like automatons that are driven by simple rules (instincts)." I suppose they are driven by simple instincts, but then that makes it sound as if these instincts come from outside themselves and...
Good thinking.
You know, lots of times I worry that I will 'hurt' those kind of people accidentally if I let them get too close and then have to jettison them later if it gets too much. Most of the time it's only in my imagination because I'm not half as important to them as I think I am. It's...
You can't control people's perception. "Arrogant" is their own interpretation of what they see and they can choose whether that interpretation is correct or not.
HUGS! (If you hate being hugged you don't need to take this literally)
There are probably more people who like you than you realize. I know your not talking about people liking you and I know that lots of people only like NTs' public facade and run away when they get to know us better. But...
Yep... I read somewhere about this, forget where but if I remember I'll let you know. It said that INTPs never know how much information the other person needs about their thought process. Because INTPs hate redundancies they just give an abstract summary and it's too condensed for other people...
Hum.... I read somewhere on another forum that if an ISFJ bothers you, you should shout your explanations at them in a really dramatic and emotional way (even if you're not feeling any emotions) because they don't understand INTJs otherwise. Apparently that helps them understand things and...
Oops, sorry... lol... typical INTJ slopiness :)
Yep, it' ENTJs who are Te dominant but I can even see how an INTJ would come across as Te dominant to you lot. Whenever I talk to an INTP I invariably spout keywords like "plan", "strategy" etc. (Te). I don't do that when I talk to other types...
Isn't that what I said?
pjoa09 J means that your decision making function is extroverted (Te for INTJ, Fe for ISFJ). If you are an introvert, your dominant function has to be introverted. So that will be the other middle letter: N, S. So we get
Ni-Te for INTJ and Si-Fe for ISFJ.
The inferior...
I'll second that. I'm an INTJ and have an ISFJ colleague who smothers me with unwarranted affection. She's really nice and I do like her .... from a safe distance.
I can have a meaningful conversation with her once in a while, but when she's got some emotional problem I give her unsolicited Te...
Re: academicearth.org + other ways to increase your knowlege/skills mostly for free
Wow, this site looks great. Will check it out at the weekend. It's got a whole course on Ancient Greek History. :storks:
Thanks for sharing.
I've just had a brainwave about the role that our introverted functions play in getting attached to someone (as friends etc.). This might either be obvious to everybody else and I'm just retarded or it might be total nonsense. So here goes:
1. Theory:
To form an interpersonal relationship with...
Thanks for the graph. Hum,, I'm rubbish at reading charts, could you explain a bit more what it means? (Only if you don't mind explaining your personal theory).
Thanks for your reply :)
LOL. I do know some ENTPs, my own little brother is one. I'll try anything that works. He'll just try anything.
Hum, not sure about Kirk being an ENTJ, though. He does come across as very bossy and irascible at the beginning of season one, but Shatner (sp?) himself...
Thanks :)
Hum, I think I do use Fe sometimes, but Fi is more of a "I know because I am right and I'm right because I know!"-thing to do with values and convictions. E.g. I 'know' that if you are friends with someone, you are friends for life. Is there any evidence for it? No. In fact there is...
Good point. But then, it depends which way your jumping. You could be jumping along the "i"-dimension. On the other hand, we could assume that the functions are ordered this way (for an INTP): Ti Ne Si Fe Te Ni Se Fi. In this case an INTP's Fe would still be "bigger" than his Fi and would be...
Hum, I've been wondering about this for a while.
E.g. I'm an INTJ and on the human metrics test my strength of preference for Te is "only" 62%.
So that would mean that most of the time I base decisions on Te but sometimes I base them on feeling, right? Now the question is what kind of feeling...
Out of the 6 INTPs I know, 3 are really good advisors, one is even a therapist. It's not that they are people-focused as such, but it's that random people seek them out when they've got some problem or crisis. These people might not have much to do with the INTP but they somehow are attracted...
Hum, I'd say he/ she sound like someone from a German-speaking or Scandinavian country. Could be totally wrong, though :)
What marks do/ did you get at school in foreign languages and/or your native language?
The fact that you enjoy writing doesn't prove that you are good at it, it could just...
Hum, I'm not quite sure what you mean by ultimate purpose/ greatest strength.
I think INTPs are the best advisors about (personal) problems, because they normally don't give unsolicited advice and also they don't pursue you to check whether you've already done what they told you. They just tell...
