Might also just illustrate how the INTPs are brilliant chameleons.

Or maybe it proves that the educational system doesn't pull out the very best in everyone.

Or it might prove that Keirsey is misguided in equating types with occupations.

He didn't equate the two but looked at correlations.

I think you can find INTP's in more technical, especially computer related fields.

Yes, that's probably true. But it also depends very much on the education system of the country. E.g. I read that in the US, INTPs are the most likely type to learn a foreign language. But it's not compulsory there. An INTP friend of mine in Germany is a linguist. Languages are compulsory there but IT lessons don't exist. So who knows.. if he had had IT lessons he might have ended up as an IT geek, but because languages are compulsory he just applies his logical thinking to the system of grammar rather than the system of computers. The other INTPs I know are: a languages teacher (walking dictionary and grammar geek), a girl who studied Linguistics and Politics (=political systems), a psychiatric nurse and a teaching assistant. They are all better with computers than the average 'housewife', but they mainly apply their INTP-ish skills to whatever job it is they've got.
LOL, but then some NASA guys you see in intervies just seem to scream INTP all over the screen :)

It pains me that ISFJ and ESFJ are the most common types in America. Although, I'm not surprised...

It might be because ENTJ's are more likely to go to school and actually follow through with becoming an architect than INTP's. I think ENTJ is pretty much the perfect personality type, I'm quite jealous. :auburn:

Am I the only whose attention was called by NTs being 71% of such a survey?

Architects are generally N and NT based on this study. Note that the architects in this sample are generally leaders and such. xNTJs would be more inclined to be leaders than INTPs. Moreover, the sample is incongruous if leaders are overrepresented, because leaders are only a small minority of the architect population.

Oh, I know what you mean. Gag me with a spoon :P Maybe I'm biased, but I can't stand ESFJs. The disproportionate majority of these types is what's making Western society into Idiocracy.

I keep hearing people talk about how INTPs have such a hard time with school. I had no trouble at all getting through the educational system. Perhaps this isn't an INTP trait, but a secondary tendency or learning disability. For instance, many super intelligent children are labeled as being autistic. Maybe INTPs are prone towards certain learning disabilities.

The thread title is misleading, since even the study doesn't say "most are" but "the most frequent type". 30% is hardly Most.

This.

Also this (from the article comments): Perhaps those architects who are ENTJ are simply the most likely to hire a 'Leadership Consultant'. This is HARDLY standard practice among designer-types.

Lolz.

Still, interesting.
