Lecter: "Given the chance, you would deny me my life, wouldn't you?" Krendler: "You son of a bitch. I'm hungry." *gives Krendler a piece of his own brain* Krendler: "This is good." Lecter: "Say no more you fuckin idiot." Krendler: "Corn pone pussy." Lecter: "You will not persuade me with appeals to my intellectual vanity." :p P.S. "Fly, fly, fly, Clarice. Fly, fly, fly."

A few, from a wide variety of movies:

The Incredibles:
- The whole segment of cut scenes between Bob getting into the Kronos computer and discovering Syndrome's plans, while Helen is discovering from Edna that Bob's activities are not what they seemed to be.
- The buildup to the plane with Helen and the kids on being destroyed, just very intense for this parent who totally "gets" what Helen was feeling.

Heat:
- Coffee shop
- The heist on the bank truck near the movie's beginning.

Princess Bride:
- The battle of wits
- The swordfight

American Beauty:
- The video of the dancing bag
- The "please pass the asparagus honey" dinner scene

Silence of the Lambs:
- The scene with Lecter in the cage and Starling begging for help, where he finally gets the truth from her... and then grazes her finger goodbye.

Moulin Rouge:
- Zidler and the Duke perform "Like a Virgin" together
- Near the end, Christian walks out of the theater, Satine sings after him, and Christian realizes he loves her and returns.

Mission Impossible III:
- The whole opening scene.
- The kidnapping + interrogation of Davian scene(s).

Holy Fuck! *lays sword at the feet of the winner of this battle* You are in a league all your own. A true master of disaster. This calls for a change of my plans. Thankfully, fate and destiny are always true. So I will finish in a slightly different manner than what I had planned. *Recalls the train wreck scene from last fall where the damsel in distress has a major epiphany of shattering glass.* She says,"I have seen what you can do, and it's scary." And one last scene: again rewinding to last fall. A blundering idiot stumbles into a cave and stomps around for a while trying to figure it out. On the way out he says (with no disrespect or meanness): "It's a nice day today Noddy. Have you been out of the house? In your quest to devour minds, you have devoured your own. You need to be more productive with your talent." Which is my way of saying I always win the war. Cheers. Until next time:

I don't have favourites per se, but I'll list a few I like.

The Silence of the Lambs - The scene when Hannibal says, "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti", if only for that line. /bandwagon

Lost in Translation - (probably only because I saw it for the first time on Sunday) The final scene, when they kiss. I also love the scene when he comes up to her room and sees the life guidance CD, and she pretends she doesn't know whose it is.

Up - The first scene with Dug.

Kamikaze Girls - When she gets hit by the van. Mindblowing!

The Fox and the Hound - When she brings Todd back to the forest. Never failed to make me cry.

Too many, way too many to name. But I'll name some.

Takashi Miike is an extremely hit-and-miss director, but also an extremely weird one, and at his best he's just about better than anyone, so he has quite a few scenes that are among the greatest I've ever seen. The ending to Dead or Alive comes to mind, as well as every scene in Zebraman in which the theme song plays, and the needle scene of Audition. Kiri-kiri-kiri-kiri...

Moreover, the climax of Klass, the ending of Pusher II, and too many scenes to name from Riki-Oh. And the very last scenes of The Fountain, a movie I otherwise hated.

Oh, and Klaus Kinski's monologue in the ending of Aguirre.

Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the Ring:
-Arwen and Aragorn in Rivendell.

The first scenes in V for Vendetta.

Rorschach's scene with the pschologist in the Director's Cut of Watchmen.

The movie theater scene in Donnie Darko:
Donnie-"Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"
Frank-"Why do you wear that stupid man suit?"

The fake-suicide scenes from Harold and Maude

The art museum scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off

When David Bowie sings "Dance Magic" in The Labyrinth

When Jimmy Stewart tells the story of how he met Harvey in Harvey

I'll have to second the "battle of wits" from Princess Bride

When Pippin sings while Denethor eats in Return of the King

The French taunting in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The first fight in Fight Club

The dream sequences in Brazil

I have to stop now. This could go on forever.

The Thinker in me got a thrill when Captain Kirk looked God Almighty in the eye in Star Trek V, while everyone else was busy being respectful, and asked him WTF he needed with a starship to get off the planet.

I mean, the rest of the movie kind of dragged, but that was a moment that resonated.

lol nice one. Since you brought the movie up, here's my favorite part of the movie:

Clarice: It's stuck.
(other character): We could return tomorrow with my son.
Clarice: What about him?
(other character): I would ask my driver to help you, but he detests physical labor.

*Camera pans at the driver who looks completely unconcerned and unmoving*

I couldn't find a video for it, so I'll post a link to a description of it.
http://cuboidal.org/lebowski-treehorn/

It's from The Big Lebowski.

"The Dude" Jeff Lebowski is speaking with Jackie Treehorn (a porn producer). Jackie takes a phone call in the middle of the meeting and then appears to write important information on a notepad. He rips off the note he's just written and then excuses himself.

The Dude runs over and uses a pencil to shade out the imprint on the top page. To his surprise, he finds out it was a rude drawing of a man with a giant erection. He begins shading slower and slower as he realizes what the picture actually is and his face looks completely shocked.

Also, there's a scene just after with a Sheriff that's pretty funny too.

Here are a few I like:

This one's hilarious:

YouTube- Dust In The Wind
This is a scene I love from my favorite movie (and maybe it's my favorite scene of the movie, or at least one of my favorites because it's so sad, as it deals with suicide), The Shawshank Redemption:

YouTube- The Shawshank Redemption - Brooks

"I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay."

Here are others I like (and most are speeches):

YouTube- Shawshank Redemption Morgan Freeman Parole Speech

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

YouTube- Famous Speeches: A Few Good Men

YouTube- Braveheart In Defiance Of The English Tyranny! BRAVO

Intellectual ownage.

YouTube- Good Will Hunting - Bar Scene HD 720p

I don't think that I'll ever be able to pick a specific number one favorite scene. Here's one that is fresh in my mind though.

A Boy and His Dog
"Well, I'd certainly say she had marvelous judgment, Albert, if not particularly good taste."

What can I say? I'm a secret gorehound. (Warning: VERY gory)

And to show I'm not the biggest freak in the world:
"not like every other stupid guy in the world" / "not telling anyone and going off to some random place and I'd just... disappear, and they'd never see me again"
0:00-3:01

And I've been obsessed with the Singing Telegram scene in Clue since the first day I saw that movie.

The Fox and the Hound - When she brings Todd back to the forest. Never failed to make me cry.
That's one of the only scenes in that movie I still like.

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

That scene where Togusa and Batou are talking with a robotics specialist in her lab, not even doing anything, just having a long philosophical conversation.

I love it whenever the GitS series has one of those scenes.

I'm a big fan of Andrei Tarkovsky, one of my favourite film concepts at least was 'the zone' in Stalker. There's a load of scenes I would pick: the transition from the brown/ black and white of the city to the green of the countryside is among them. Most of the scenes where they're travelling through the green/ wooded parts of the Zone to.

Another scene in his film The Mirror kind've translates what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV9CEmAMd0k

He makes such simple spaces into something so magical. It makes me look at my own surroundings in inspiring ways, just love it.

The sense of humor in this film is pretty great, for example, how Robert de Niro is standing behind them pointing a gun the whole time but they never turn around to notice. If you need some back story, the future is filled with corrupt gov't bureaucracies & it is apparently illegal to tamper with your own household sewage systems...

Favorite: The Manchurian Candidate- The tea party "dream" scene(s).

Runner ups:

The Godfather- Michael has dinner with the Turk and Captain McCluskey. Also, the horse head.

Schindler's List- When Oskar Schindler notices he is still wearing his gold Nazi party pin, and realizes he could have sold it and saved a few more lives.

Mullholland Drive- Rehearsing for the audition, and the audition itself.

The Lion in Winter- Henry talks with Phllip II while his sons hide nearby.

Ronin- The car chase. Also, ambush with the coffee cup.

Watchmen- The opening fight scene where the Comedian is murdered.

Heard somewhere that a lot of the catch phrases in Fight Club were actually inspired by TOOL lyrics, particularly these:

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.
