There are nine moderators and they decide who becomes a mod. Disregarding the nonsense I posted in the thread, I am not a mod and I am not sure the moderator team on this forum would ever want me to be one. To be a mod does not require much computer skills at all. The forum's software provides easy to use "back-end" set of tools. If you want experience in this area I suggest looking at python's django web development library. Python is an easy to learn language and django makes web development quite straight forward. If you want to make more advanced websites, try using python's tornado library. I used python tornado to provide a web-interface for a smart-grid that is currently being constructed.
