if i adopted a child i'd name him "LOLDISGUY". I can just imagine when he enters Highschool and the teach calls his name "Is LOLDISGUY here?" :D:D:D:D:D

or when he does something wrong like "LOLDISGUY just stole your lunch money"

Or, I'd name them a sound effect. Like a laser noise. PEW PEW!

I won't be having children. The planet has enough mouths to feed. I strongly dislike the grubby little basterds and they will take a huge chunk of time and money out of my life.

If I had a pet rock, I'd name her Shaniqua Flowisha (ghetto). :)

No-no, cloning is bio-replication, Kuu's division if I'm not mistaken.
I'm developing A-life and artificial general intelligence.
Don't worry, the two are easy to confuse.

Hrm...

I don;t think I've put much thought into this...

But just choosing a few randomly selected names with no basis in reality and belonging to no-one I can think of:

Lorina
Cognisans
Clive Ronald House.
Tektonia
Cheeseley
Noel diotes.
Anna File
Jamesy quinn
Snow tite
Ducard Pompei
Fuchsia Cohen
Ellanor wong

(A prize for whoever can guess them all:D)

Something without any vowels. Say

Xyzzyxx
Sdghfls
Jflglffls

That way their name is meaningless and unpronounceable. My child shall be tribute to Dadaism in its' purest form.

That's a nice name actually - I might steal that since I cant come up with any good names for girls...

For boys I have Raine, Victor and Laust.

The plainest and most common name possible.

I'm going to make my kids fight for their individuality, rather than taking their name as part of themselves. It worked for me born in 1988 as a "Scott".

I had a friend a long time ago who opted not to give his kids names. He gave them initials, said he'd change their names for them when they decided what they wanted (he was a lawyer, so it was no big deal for him).

He "named" his firstborn, a son, "J.C." Said it seemed like a good pair of initials as initials went. :)

Unfortunately he died when the kids were still little, and I moved away, so I have no idea how it all turned out.

I wish I'd been named "Fire Dog." No hydrant would have been safe.

I'm still undecided on having kids, but my SO would like for me to bear twins for him (not my idea of fun).

In that case, I will name them Thing 1 and Thing 2.

As they suckle on my breasts I will softly stroke their hairs and in a cooing, soothing motherly voice, I will call them "My Little Experiments."

I find that just a wee bit disturbing, in fact I find the whole idea of planned pregnancy disturbing, it's like mad science without the science, just fricken mad.

The idea of something growing parasitically inside someone is discomforting, add to it the knowledge that said parasite is actually a little person who'll grow up to become a very real individual, then add to that the whole "lets give it a name and raise it to believe in our values" parental mentality and it's all just too weird.
And this is what really gets to me: how people act like it's soo normal.

By comparison playing god with cybernetic conceptual-offspring is... not weird.
It's mad too, but it's okay, because it's "mad science", it's supposed to be mad.
(madness-mad, not angry-mad, obviously)

And the names, damn you people are sick, sure cute names suit cute babies, but they grow up, they become very adult people, honestly who gave parents the right to brand children with whatever stupid moniker they found amusing at the time.

Then again “Blake” wasn’t a bad choice, kudos to my Mum for that.

"Tom" is also a very common name on my father's side. My brother, uncle and grandfather are all named "Tom C." So if my brother isn't going to have some boys, then I might name one of my kids Thomas.

People really should cross the boundary and illusory requirements of what can be considered "name". A name can be anything. Jump over this limiting human-society possibility, then we'll find something new. Where does this common preference come from?

Though, names might not be so important..

The idea of having a new human being growing inside of me is unsettleting, but if I had to choose...

Boy names: Santiago, Antonio.
Girl names: Carmen, Adriana.

Nothing that would make their classmates make fun of them at school. At least not here, where I'm living. Also, considering the widespread local fad of giving kids foreign names, giving my kids regular Spanish names would be almost a deliberate attempt to go against the irrational belief that everything foreign is better.

But then, someone could easily say that Spanish names are also foreign names, and that, if I wanted actual local names, I'd have to look up Nahuat names.

I'm rambling now, I know. I'll just shut up.

I think this thread is a strong evidence for why INTPs should never decide on a baby name alone, and also why INTPs should never procreate together.
