My family is ridiculously dysfunctional, and he was what held us all together so we could function. I can't tell you how many times my sister and I looked at each other when things were bad and just said "I wish grandpa was here". Him being of a personality type that is the same as many here, or similar, I did just sort of want to share about this man that kept a family thriving due to his principles- the main one being dedication to those he had chosen to love.     Good point, good point. Unless you call in sick for the funeral (perhaps a good move) you'll be grilled by someone, but whom? The ones who liked him will want you to be sad, the ones who hated him will want you to be quiet-- perhaps you can find a happy medium and avoid the ire of both parties. And I suppose that if someone questions your motivations, especially if you choose to be quiet, then you can simply state that he abused you and you'd rather not participate. But of course, Fe isn't my strong suit, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

    I'll give a more formal reply when I've mulled it over, but I did feel the need to say this...

    I'm still young and thus rather extremist in my views. I still see the world in black-and-white a lot, rather than all the drab grays I know it more accurately exists in. I agree with what you're saying... the inner conflict between wanting to do good and wanting no part in the power struggle is intense and ongoing. I do feel rather susceptible to temptation, because I rather like being popular and for people to like me... sometimes the ability to charm and otherwise manipulate emotion is a terrible burden-- for those who are conscientious and reflect on their actions and motivations, anyway.

    You have such beautiful eyes and demeanor; they are so soulful. I think I just figured out my old Chem professor's type just by looking at you. I couldn't figure out why we got along so well.

    I just got access to a: bandsaw, drill press, forge, laser cutter, CNC mill, 3D printer, assorted electronic components and a heap of people with varying degrees of skill with these tools and various practical software applications.

    Nah, it came from probably the best ice cream parlour in Ireland. :D It was totally non-alcoholic I'm afraid.

    (I don't think so. She mostly wears woolie cardigans and fair trade nonsense and all that. XD)
