What's your GPA?

No, really, I'm serious. Are you good and academics?

Because assuming that you do your homework (XD), and study (LMAO), you should get a good grade right? (ROFL)

If you had asked me this a year ago, I would have had to answer epic fail. I'm really not sure what happened, but at the begining of this school year I just decided to put effort into my grades. I've always enjoyed school, work, not so much. I'm not sure exactly were I'm at right now, but I've been hovering at around a 4.0. Missing a month of school certainly was no help though.

Do these bear any relation to percentages? No GPA where I'm from...
(I'm guessing 4.5-5.0 = 90-100%, 4.0-4.5 = 80-90% and ecetera.)

My GPA is 3.7.

What's hilarious was that I had 'b"s on all the "easy" classes (English, global studies) and "A"s on the "hard" ones. (Chemistry, Geometry(really?))

I suspect homework might be the answer. :D

4.5-5.0 > 100% for most places in America.

4.0-4.5 > 100% too

Then:

4.0-3.5=100%-85%

Etc

Had a 4.07 in HS. Have a 4.0 at the moment in uni (albeit not at the kind of school you'd expect out of someone with a 4.07 in HS admittedly), though I don't think I'm gonna be able to hold that this semester.

How can you get more than 100%?

Inflation.

A lot of high schools in the US offer "advanced" or "college level" courses, and if you get an A in those, it is worth 5.0, while the "normal" classes have an A worth 4.0. 4.0 used to be the highest possible, or 100%, so anyone who takes a 5-point-A class can have more than the traditional 100% in their grade point average. It is an accident of history and convention, like the electron having a negative charge. I just ignore it.

High School: 4.2
Undergrad: 3.0

My school doesn't tell us our GPAs (as far as I know), but I'm pretty sure mine would be fairly low. I'm not in any AP classes at all so I don't get the extra points and I'm like an A/B student. (except for math, then it's always a C or F)

3.89 in HS. Funny thing is I do the LEAST possible work to get an "A" in a class, the reason I don't have a 4.0+ is because my sociology teacher and I had a huge argument in class one day and he took it out on my grade. lol.

Huh. Where I'm from, you don't get extra points for enriched courses, but you have to take them or else you can't go into certain programs in college. I suppose both systems have their ups and downs.

Pfft, UChicago students only get good grades because they are forced to stay inside due to the weather!

Alas, I wish this was true! Many University of Chicago students get good grades because it is the only thing they are good at. Fortunately, I was also very good at drinking beer, but my undergrad GPA reflected that fact....:slashnew:

The schools I attended had a scale that topped at 4.0, so I don't know how to convert my GPA to the one listed in this poll.

On the 4.0 scale, my GPA's were,

High School: 3.5
Community College: 3.78
Bachelor's Degree: 3.88
Master's Degree: 3.84

Not really sure what this amounts to, but, there are the numbers.

On a 4.0 scale

HS - 2.8

1st semester of college - 3.53

2nd semester based on mid-terms - 3.87

yay for improvement? or kicking myself in the ass for not doing so well in HS.

Total average for all years in any form of GPA graded schooling is 3.74...but keep in mind that includes all classes, like gym and 7th grade art.

Total average for all years in academic (homework involving) classes is 3.54.

My schools have never had weighted grades (where you can get over 4.0)

First two years of high school I scored around a 3.7, then I got bored the second two years and scored around a 3.2. I was suprised it turned out so high since I was boycotting homework and not sudying for the most part. I was sure I was going to fail a class or two.
I forget what grades I got last semester, but midterms are coming up rather soon for this semester so if all goes well (which it should since I'm actually doing my work), I should have a happy 3.5 or above.

4.25: GPA @ HS (with the Honors/AP = +1pt)
4.0: GPA @ UofA (an EZ university with A+ = 4.33; max however is 4.0) (over 1 year)
3.45: GPA @ VU (a more prestigious university) (only this past semester)

Obviously GPA is partly determined by the rigor of the coursework. I worked much harder for that 3.45 than I did for that 4.0 (read: hardly at all).

I'm going to be intellectual about this and point out that I have next no idea what you're all talking about.

Though through deduction, I have accepted that GPA is some sort of American-only grading that is used to vile ends of competition and inequality amongst an already twisted society.

GPA is a 1.7 or so right now. Fail. On Academic Probation. Hoping to raise it above a 2.0 with a grade replacement this quarter.

Rarely show up to class. Never do homework. Really need to get motivated, but its easier said than done.

My GPA is a 6.71. Out of a 7.0 scale. Not bad. Regardless, the school is threatening to make me repeat the year for excessive absences. If I bothered to show and got straight D's, they would have no problem. Makes no sense.

*massive sigh*

ACK! I join an INTP forum and suddenly I'm normal now! lol (3.56)

And all this time my friends have labeled me the intellectual one... now it turns out I'm just a regular old INTP with a normal INTP's GPA... lol

I don't really have much interest in school, therefore don't really study or put work into my studies. Sadly, coming from a family of dropouts, my family has pressured me since I was 13 about going to college. I know it would be a stupid mistake to drop out and not do it, so here I am.

Im a sophomore at the moment (well into the second semester) and my GPA is ~3.8, but I never particularly do my homework - particularly because I a) forget do to it or b) don't see the point in doing it, and would rather talk about it in class with my teacher - so it would be higher if I were actually try, I suppose. High test scores though, so that's always a plus. ;)

My GPA's bad right now too. Advice, study the actual fields your coursework is in.

That was my major problem. As soon as I sign up for a class it ceases to be interesting, even if I've been studying that same subject on my own for months.

I had GPAs in the 0-2 range at every college I went to, except one where I left with a 3.7 (would have been a 4.0 except for two stupid teachers). I just dropped out of college today actually, for the third or fourth, and final, time.

I'm rather ecstatic about it. :D:D:D:D:D:D The crap had kept me poor, dependent on my family and suicidally miserable for nearly a decade, all while holding back my *real* self-education. All for some silly status symbol of a degree.

I think its somewhere around a 2.8 overall (Senior year in HS), which appears to be on the lower end among an admittedly miniscule sample of fellow INTPs. Probably the biggest contributing factor is just my lack of interest in general. I hope university will work out better for me.

In university I had a problem with falling asleep in classes... :( In my sophomore year I figured out the perfect solution and stopped attending classes... :rip:

I hope this doesn't happen in grad school... :phear:

This person needs to retake his English classes. Holy crap.

Anywho, 4.6-4.8 weighted in high school.

I don't really take too much check on my GPA, but my GPA is going to fail me for next year. I might have to take night school at summer, but it's probably going to be better than day school.

I'm rather ecstatic about it. :D:D:D:D:D:D The crap had kept me poor, dependent on my family and suicidally miserable for nearly a decade, all while holding back my *real* self-education. All for some silly status symbol of a degree.

Tell me about it. A degree won't matter if you don't have any uses for your intelligence level or poor work ethic skills or lacking skills for the job. All a degree shows that you passed school. Studying for a degree doesn't magically give you knowledge, work ethic and it certainly doesn't guarantee a good job either especially in a poor economy. We live in such a twisted society as someone else said.

My school's highest possible GPA is 4.0 and I indeed have that. I also take the advanced/honors/whatever courses. I don't receive any intellectual stimulation whatsoever, and being around a bunch of people doesn't help.

9,2 on a scale from -3 to 12. You fail at 00, the -3 is to tell people that they did worse than just fail.

I completely bombed my first semester of college. I started out taking 4 classes and then had to drop one of them because I hadn't done the prerequisite class yet. One of them was a credit/no credit class, so it didn't contribute to my GPA at all. Out of the two classes that did end up counting I got a 'D+' in Mass Media because it was nothing but tedious busy work, and a C+ in my English class, because I stopped showing up. Together this added up to a 1.80 GPA.

Second semester I got it up to a 3.1, then last semester I got all B's and one C which brought me down to 2.6 overall. Hopefully at the end of this semester I will be back up to a 3.0

I currently have an average of 11 out of 15 points in German Gymnasium. I think the average is usually between 9 and 10 although in my sister's year it was 10,2.
