Someone stuck up the engineering Phd coordinator's email stating that people are not allowed to speak in the office. I stuck up the 'too long didn't read' face. Someone ripped it down so I stuck it back up again with the troll face.

I just think telling people that they're not allowed to speak in the office is not conducive to a pleasant atmosphere. People generally work better and will be more willing to stick out their PhDs if they're in a friendly atmosphere. Sure, people talking loudly can be a problem sometimes but it is not as if it happens for the majority of the time. I'm glad that many people found the troll faces I stuck around this office and many others to be amusing. One problem, people figured out it was me quite fast. Only I have a strange sense of humor...

The same principle is applied to running a business. If your employees are happy, they are more likely to work harder and procrastinate less.

I have been here for a year and 1 month now. I have put a few assholes in their place. Now that their behavior has been modified, people in general are happier.

Edit: The office that I reside in at the electricity utility is magnitudes noisier than this office will ever reach. Those who complain about the level of noise in the office will be horrified if they ever decide to work outside the university.

I'm a bureaucrat at the moment myself, sitting somewhere in a maze of cubicles. Humour is always appreciated since people tend to get very stuck up in that kind of environment if left unchecked. Those dynamics can in turn react very sourly with assholery of the sort you are presenting. Anyway, it's a good thing you defused the tention. People were probably irritated.

If you would only learn some real economics, we could develop a friendship that in turn could evolve into love. Damn you, Austrian school! How many souls must you claim?!

The Austrian School is real economics...Plus I have studied most schools of economics anyway. I started as a leftist thinking that after the crash in 2007 and 2008 that people were insane and must have been severely indoctrinated to still advocate free markets. I was still curious to find out what occurred. ZOMG 6 years later and I am a libertarian.

Edit: Ten years ago, when I was 14, I thought people were on the whole idiots and should have every facets of their lives controlled by a authoritarian central government populated by intellectuals.

My two favorite books would have to be Starship Troopers and Ender's Game. Books on history, economics, philosophy are definitely interesting but don't rank near my favorites.
