Nobody has had their account deleted, afaik. I don't think it's practiced here. But wait for a mod's reply to get the official info.

I checked through all the options under the 'User CP' but could not find a suicide button.

Send a PM to a mod requesting that your account be deleted, or alternatively, gay-porn-spam the forum or habitually commit some other breech of conduct until same occurs without notice.

That would get you banned, not deleted...which is not what Bird is looking for, as far as I can tell.

Out of curiosity, why the interest, Bird ?

You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.
You got that right. I requested that I get banned at one point, because I was concerned about forum addiction (no joke). I was told that it just isn't done around here. I presume that I can get banned if only I were to post porno in people's threads, but it hasn't come to that yet.

Typically accounts aren't deleted from forums due to the holes they leave in threads.

Solutions depend on why you want to be out. for example, if it's because you're posting more than you think you should, the easy solution is to scramble-lock your password so that you can't get back on without contacting a mod.

That's a good idea.

It was more directed at Bird...

But nonetheless, I appreciate you not leaving (yet). :)

I know this is the case on many forums, I sometimes wonder if legal issues ever stem from these policies. As I can see how they easily could.

Yes I think the simple answer is that it's more or less pointless.

If you don't want to use the account, don't.
If you regret certain posts, have them deleted.

If you don't want to be linked to the account, get a username change.

Doing something so irreversible and ineffective will only lead to regret.

The first of many I'm sure.

How does one delete their account?
Easily. Not that anyone will do it.
You're free to get yourself banned though.

There is no right to anonymity in any law of any country, as far as I'm aware.
Excluding government spooks, naturally.

Well we'd better gather all of her incriminating posts before she has them deleted.

I didn't really mean so much in the sense of anonymity, more along the lines of harassment, threats, and blackmail. I know it's not so much an issue on something such as an MBTI forum which exists mostly for entertainment purposes but I have heard of legal problems happening on forums that cater to people with mental disabilities.

Things could happen, say I was in the mafia and posted somewhere, then turned myself in to the FBI and was put in the witness protection program. Then was found and killed through information pieced together through said site. My loved ones would most definitely have legal legs to stand on for "emotional distress" etc. Granted this is quite a long shot and I don't ever really see it happening. I just wonder if sites ever think of that kind of thing in their vigor for "continuity"

They do. That's why most sites have long legal disclaimers that function as a contract of sorts. "By clicking here you hereby agree that.... etc".

Bird is not being harassed, threatened or blackmailed.
Okay maybe harassed a little, but this is the internet.

Darwin Award.

I'm not suggesting she is, I just think it's interesting food for thought in general to the topic overall. Also the woman that burned herself with hot coffee at McDonalds got a check not a "darwin award" it is of little relevance in the legal system (At least the american one) whether one's actions were stupid or not, only that they brought misfortune.

I don't think it qualifies as harassment when you're discussing someone's actual actions, as they have affected and continue to affect others, particularly when the opposing parties are still going out of their way to keep unnecessary details out of it.
