How would someone without experience know who or what to trust?

Actually this is something I want to know. I've wanted to buy things before with bitcoin, but I have no idea if there are cops on the other end waiting to get information so they can arrest me

I've been reading about privacy and anonymity online all damn day and there seems to be some fairly reliable forms of security against authority. Linux, Tails, Tor, encryption, finding reliable vendors...people are doing this stuff already and there are known and trusted techniques.

I'm feeling much more confident about being able to stay off the radar.

One macro level concept that I trust completely is that crime - for lack of a better word - is innovative by nature. Authority will set up rules and defenses and those who choose to live by their own rules will find a way around existing set ups. Crime is always a step ahead and cops are always catching up.

This is how I see the dark web - or anything like it. I may not know the details right now, but I trust that there are people out there figuring out a way to conduct business under the table. All anyone has to do is learn the techniques and apply them.

If you use something like Onion/TorBrowser, you should be good. I know people who have purchased "items" with Bitcoin using Tor, and did not have a problem.

I too am fascinated by the Deep/Dark Web (particularly the rumored Mariana's Web) though I have never been.

I have read a fair bit on how to navigate and buy safely...the computer whizzes perpetually lurking the depths can possibly get around one or two lines of defense you have set up, so probably go with the full body armor, shield, et al. to put it figuratively.

Have also heard stories about sketchy deliveries. I wouldn't feel comfortable having it mailed to my house, but I know people who have done this with no complications. Meet-up delivery can also be an option, but that can be just as sketchy or even moreso. If you're going for the latter, should probably show up armed and with a friend or two.

Thanks for the link. I'm researching this through as many different resources as possible and Reddit has had a ton of good info. This INTP forum is where the least of my energies are expended towards this end. But its not nearly as useless as I thought it might have been - a surprising number of folks have PM'd with ideas.
