Hey, recommend, link, etc games that you can play for free. We'll talk about our ROMs and emulators...elsewhere, but otherwise, give it a go. Maybe we can play together for those of us who have time and/or interest.

i don't really play either very much.

also isn't it a bit ironic for thread killer to make threads? Unless you make them just to kill them.

I've played http://www.noxforum.net/index.php?topic=3160

which is Nox for a few years. The community is very small and it is abandonware. To play it, you need to find the last English patch and last Quest patch which as 1.12, i believe.

I also played a free MMORPG called ConquerorOnline. It's okay-ish. Haven't played any other since my disc space is low (Not even 7 gigs left).

And of course, I have played Runescape, but everyone knows that game sucks, so...

Nexon games used to be something I played, but after playing MapleStory for 6 hours straight and leveling up only once, I abandoned it.

MapleStory is at least 2 years old, so it takes up lots of memory.

Atlantica Online is a rather hefty downloading process, but it's pretty fun from what I was able to tell (I only played it a few times; it now lies dormant on my laptop).

I just tried Nexuiz, and it's pretty amusing, though I suck at first person shooters. I've been playing wesnoth for a while, and I find it engaging and entertaining.

Its not a multi-player game, but a game that I was addicted to for a long time was Bubble Spinner, found on addictinggames.com

I don't know why it was so intriguing, but it was. :D

A fascinating experience together with Gong as background music and massive sleep deprivation - although I suck at this game.

Not to destroy your fun, but a buddy and I, installed that game, when we exchanged sniper rounds at each other, standing still, the engine did not register the shots. Perfect dead on, with the sniper rifle we kept firing each other, no one died. Not sure if that was just a problem back than, but we could not kill each other standing still, the game's net code is really odd.
Otherwise its not too bad of a game, but be warned if the same problems do exist.

i recently started playing combat arms which is a free online FPS. (pretty good imo), and the only shooter where nut shots are just as good as headshots.

I like to play

Tribal Wars

An awesome multi-player real time strategy game. The best part is sending condescending messages to the players you are killing and smashing other people's villages.

I'm downloading Requiem: Bloodymare right now (looks so fun)

I also play perfect world (has graphics and character customization virtually the same as Aion, but free)

I've played Roblox for a couple of years, It's main user base is younger than I, But the game itself is flexible enough that you essentially have a huge collection of different games. I like the flexibility of it.

I also tried Gunrox, an online turn based tactics game, but stopped because I grew tired of it.

Google them yourself if you wish.

DFO (made by nexon) is addicting, but I'm not sure whether to recommend it or not, because I can't really tell if it's fun, per se. Sure it has it's sensate pleasures of being able to combo goblins and werewolves into oblivion without getting touched, but it's really only as difficult as button mashing... it is cool to kick someone into the air and machine-gun them to death though...

Submachine has already been recommended... so, by the same creator, Daymare Town is quite good as well.

I also enjoyed Trapped a lot. The story's sort of lame, but I liked the series.

This one's from 1997, still a lot of fun though if you give it a chance. I think it was one of the first MMO games to be released, went free to play many years ago.

Trench Wars is the de facto zone for new players, Extreme Games is more fun IMO but harder in terms of skill. Very fast paced action with capture the flag gameplay.

I've been playing this flash game for 2 days now and it's really enjoyable. You have to give instructions to robotic arms to move atoms, and you win a level when you have delivered 5 times the desired molecule for this level.
First you place your manipulators (robotic arms) and the appropriate "glyphs" (those let you transform or bind atoms), then you list your instructions, and when you're ready you press "run" and watch your creation.

The first levels are easy, but the difficulty gradually increase to challenging levels. You can also save your creation as a string of characters and load the creations of others.

links for the first and second opus (start with the first one) :

I used to play the MMORPG Shadowbane when it started to become free to play. Ubisoft closed the game down a couple of months ago however. The customer characterization was unmatchable and sheer amount of race/class/discipline combinations is amazing. Anyways you can not play it anymore, but some people are trying to revive it by starting an emulator. Anyone used to play?

Cool thread.

MAME - http://www.mameui.info/
This program is old news already. You probably all have it. It runs binary image files downloaded from old arcade video games. Legally, they are stolen property, but they fall more in the realm of abandonware. Just download the 10gb torrent file of images. Literally thousands of games.

ZDoom - http://zdoom.org/About
The old DOOM series lacked a Z-axis. You could not look up and down or jump. id Software released the source code of DOOM and Quake. A free software team ported over the Z-axis code to create ZDoom. I got this program and played all my old maps all over again. (You still need the map files, which can be purchased from STEAM, or dowload some mod maps.)

Desktop Tower Defense - http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/Game.asp
This browser-based game burned a great deal of my time. It's a tad unique. Little to compare it to. Check it out for yourself.

Lol, you play ss? And those zones suck. Any SVS zone rocks. I played in chaos/premier league for 6-7 years. Awesome game. Takes a lot of time to get good at it and you need a big monitor...

2. Icy Tower

They're both unbelievably boring games
