Haven't you all gone around at some point with an awesome idea for a game? It never comes to fruition, of course, since you are not game designers and wouldn't possibly have the resources to program an entire game, and even if you did, you would have no idea where to start. Ideas are fun though. What are your game ideas?

I have two for now. First off:

A reality-based zombie-survival game.

Yes. Not a lot of shooting and blowing up gas-stations. More about having to eat and sleep, and barricading yourself. Sure, you will fight a zombie once in a while, but the goal of the game is to stock up and keep searching for stuff. I would have an open world with empty cities, silent villages and a wilderness almost void of means of life. The end goal would be to find the one living and hidden settlement, only reachable through well hidden clues in a sea of misinformation. It would be a very lonely game, and that's exactly the point.

The game of being a bitch.

A point-and-click adventure taking place in a GTA-esque sort of reality. Unlike GTA however, you don't reach power or wealth. Instead, you end up in worse and worse situations.. It starts with your not-really-friend introducing you to some people in the criminal world. You then become a bitch under some pimp. Your perks are things like getting to sit in the front seat of the car or eating with the others. You basically have to go through your humiliation as smoothly as possible. You then go to jail since your pimp betrayed you, and you have to sustain 10 rapes or something (if you die of less, you lose). It ends with your death. With a 100% completion, you get a much more brutal death. Your character is an obnoxious bitch, and you want to see him suffer.

One of my favourite builds for the Elder Scrolls series involves combining magic and a shield, the rational being that touch spells can't be blocked by conventional means, the shield protects me from harm while my mana recharges, and all my stamina is reserved for blocking and running. Which lead me to imagine a scene where my character's been summoned to the realm of some daedric lord, gets thrown in a cage, in a courtroom full of assorted deadra, a dark seducer in a suit walks up to a imp at the witness stand, holds up something and says "Now show me on the doll, where did he touched you?".

It's not a game idea, I'm writing one of those right now and that just came to mind.

A massively multiplayer island building game with platypuses hopping all over them.

There is a seamless game world.

I do know where to start and have started but it's nowhere near enough work done for me to even want to put it on a public SourceForge repo. HTML5 with PHP.

The source to cataclysm is available and would be a great start point for this sort of zombie game (already having most of what you want in there).

You know that Mario Brothers mod where you play the other Nintendo characters. I want that but where you can go to other games completely at will. And for Capcom!

So i want to street fight with black tiger and use captain commando in a side scroller. So I could replay a bunch of games with different character.

A Sandbox Complex Massively Mutiplayer RPG.
You build your Own thing, Like crafting or forging a Sword, But pixel per pixel,Cube per cube, Ect.
Your have your own home and you build your own furniture ect..
Server are the time you're, for example the server X is a medieval era with RPG and stuff and the server Y is the Sci-Fi Era and you can build your spaceship and visit, have battle with other player. The game would be in "pixel voxel "( Not with texture ) Or in a full HD 3D that player can freely move. Collision will be made with a huge precision that a item drop in the world can hit the player. Physic will be a huge part of the game. The game will have a rich backstory like portal or the legend of Zelda and the quest will no be repetitive. Like, Yes there will be a " Go take that and return" quest but also more complex quest with cutscenes.
Innovative aspect:
Online-Offline Game modes
User Creating Content
A real True guild system that include guild house, guild bank ect...
Precision Combat: Like in Skyrim, if your attack the head, is got injure.
Ability to fly everywhere except for dungeon
One map: Never needs to load to go into a forest.
First person view

Below me if I got the money and learn the skills of programming. I'm surely this will the best ever.

I have several games I'm working on, but not video type games.

Card games;

A 2-4 player game loosely based on the traditional card game War, where you're piloting mechas and fighting over resources.

A game where you try to get your other players in trouble with their wife and the person who gets in the most trouble looses. I call it Dog House.

A game where you're a pirate ship and you fight other pirate ships.

I'm also working on a board game, a table top war game, and a table top RPG.

Just a mod for Skyrim, when your character eats something a little text box appears detailing it's taste, texture, moistness, temperature, etc, but not in a clinical way, it should be fun.

What's the point of buying my character fine wine of I don't get to vicariously enjoy the flavour somehow? Likewise if different foods did come with different discriptions I could go on a culinary tour of Skyrim (or whatever) and collect bottles of wine, mead, whiskey, port, rum, etc, which would be even better in an online game where I could host dinner parties with exotic food, drink and entertainment.

As some of you well know my dinner parties can set the world on fire ;)

This would be a great alternate mode for Dead or Alive, Tekken, or Soul Caliber.
A dance off mode :D

Plays like a cross between those games with the plastic guitar and the fighting game itself in that you can move around and hit each other, the dance moves doubling as attacks and hold-button moves opening up the potential for combos and such.

Heck this could be a whole new genre of game in of itself.

I set up a music party game for a few of my friends, everyone had fun. Basically I was the DJ/Quiz Master and would play a song. I would give out points for artist and name of song, so you could get two points a song. We just divided folks into teams and i played.

I was thinking of taking that idea further with cards. Allowing folks to bring their own ipods (whatever zune). The cards would be things like one from my list or one of a particular genre.

I think it really could be fun with an iphone app going that links peoples play lists and makes it real easy

Star Wars game that is part Far Cry 3, part Skyrim, and part X-wing/TIE fighter. You choose the way you want to live your virtual life in a galaxy far far away. DLC after release would add full planets and modding assets to take the game further. No MMOs or any of that online stuff for this guy. It's all about the mods and I'm positive a game like that would yield a massive modding community, especially if it's actually good.

Tall glasses of motor oil and sparkplug hors d'ouvres.

I started thinking of what I'd want in a game and I eventually ended up with something that very much resembled 'simulated reality'. lol

LOL for real. I can see it now... "X...X...O...X!" of course it would have to be for PS3 but whatever.

I would like a game that is a cross between Mass Effect series and Guild Wars 2. Multiplayer game where you use guns and powers being able to hide behind stuff for cover (Gears of War). You would be able to gain recourses to build your own weapons and customize them at a work station with a mini game or at the very least something to figure out (FFXIVX). The idea of having a WvW PvP and PVE would be really cool if you could have your own spaceship to travel to different planets where you could participate in one of those three settings.(ME/GW2)

There's Kama Sutra apps for tablets and phones, and maybe it's not everyone's taste but you could roleplay Portal with a GlaDOS voice giving "test instructions".

Here's an idea I was just thinking about. Still sort of 'simulated reality'.

Whilst staring at my brother's aquarium I started thinking about those virtual aquarium programs. Then I thought that just having fish is boring. Why not land, air AND water creatures? Then I figured it could be imaginary creatures. But what constitutes a 'creature'?

Eventually I ended up with an idea similar to Spore but with greater depth. A virtaul collection of aquariums/terrariums containing virtual creatures.
- These creatures can be 'bred' or engineered.
- They would have a VERY simple 'genome'.
- Pre set list of 'genes'.
- They could be sold or traded.
- Isolated environements for new creatures.
- Photo/Herbie/Carni/Detri-vore creature variants.
- Potential for creatures to mutate each generation.

If I had to guess I'd say it was all too hard to accomplish.
