Simple enough. Why did you choose your avatar? I am primarily asking those of this forum to provide a little auto-psychoanalysis. In return, feel free to post comment or inquiry regarding other avatars as well. I would like to open the discussion by asking what your (collective address) thoughts of my avatar are. Basically, this is a discussion of avatars.

Would you like to start from yours? I am inquiring only because your own avatar's got me genuinely puzzled.

Complex avatars make me think of not so clear minded people (no offense) that is just my first thought.

I chose mine since I think I am actually an ISTP and wolverine is said to be one.

I am lazy.

Also, to talk myself out of it, nothingness fits my personality.

lol, funny responses. Although, I was hoping for an earnest analysis of my avatar. I think no avatar speaks volumes in itself, actually. I chose my avatar because the themes therein provoke my fascination with transcendence, occultism, satanic archetypes, geometric symbolism, and the lurker beyond the threshold of material perception. Perhaps I am also chaotic of mind. Truth be told, I'm still in the process of determining my own motives for choosing my avatar. Can you not imagine this being lying in wait beyond your awareness? A chilling notion, and rather inspiring too.

Relius Clover, a supermassive douche who used alchemy/science to turn his daughter, then his wife into robots and magic (powered by mass murder) to turn them into weapons powerful enough to rewrite fate, also he ordered his now robotic daughter to babysit his son, who actually wants to kill him for what has been done to his sister and mother, so they regularly duke it out in 2v2 battles, Relius+wife against their children, and he only stops short of killing them, which is actually an irregularity in his character because with everyone else he is an absolutely amoral sociopath, in the arcade mode of the latest game he even tries to kill one of his allies (who is the big bad and closest out of anyone to being a friend of his) just to see if he can die (he can't, regenerating from mortal wounds just hurts a lot).

The basis of his unusual personality is that he somehow ended up beyond time and space (due to events in the first game, I haven't played it) where omniscience all but destroyed his soul, but by the sheer will of For Science he managed to pull himself together and re-manifest in reality, so now he can see souls (but remember this is a reality where magic is real so in effect he's a fantastical mechanist, so people, souls and all, are just puppets to him) and for reasons I don't think even he understands he's trying to create his magnum opus, in other words yet another robot made of the best materials black alchemy can create and powered by the very best quality soul he can find, regardless of how unwilling it may be.

I like him, he classy :D

He is, and when not being cryptic his dialog is some of the best in the game, anyone who's powerful enough not to be terrified of him is enraged by his witty remarks, I think because he can see people's souls he knows where all their buttons are, and he presses all of them with such a demeanour of complete & utter indifference, which just makes it that much worse.

I think Racheal is the only one that can match him and she's a pint-sized vampire ancient with a bitch streak five miles wide, although I think that has a lot to do with having a child's body yet being very much an adult, which is exactly what Relius would point out but he doesn't so it just kind of hangs over their rare, short, terse, conversations, a truce of mutually assured devastation, he could utterly humiliate her and she's one of the few actually powerful enough to trounce him, heck others have implied that she's sadistic enough to get her gratification that way, so I guess he knows better

I chose mine because I wanted to use original content so I wouldn't get sued. Also I think it resembles me, sitting in the dark with my face lit up by a monitor. I'm also fairly nocturnal like a cat.

My first profile picture was of a character from "Welcome to the NHK", with the caption "When you suck at everything in life, just retreat to your bed room and never come out". He's what is known as a hikhikomori, or a shut in. At the time I joined the forum, I was quite the shut in. I also thought that I wasn't worth much. So, like the character, I just sat at home and thought about how people don't like me and the ones that did were stupid for it. I suffered from paranoid delusions, just like the character as well.

I thought so, satanic allusions I mean.. and transcendental theme, eastern influence too. Well, I'm more interested what prompted such a choice.. anyway one never can have it all. That's my disillusionment speaking.

Mine's easy, I went nutcrackers. Before this avatar I had another avatar with eight pictures of the same horse in motion, but I found it somehow unsatisfactory too sensory. To diminish my feeling of inadequacy I made minimalist decision to have just one horse in the picture. The toy horse was a bonus.I felt like diminishing my avatar problems to childlike proportions. I'm having the last evil laugh at the end.:smiley_emoticons_mr

I like The Nutcracker. That said, I thought I answered your question? My avatar suits my idiom insofar as the themes therein presented suit my idiom. My clothes suit my idiom (more or less). I have found that keeping in line with my idiom makes me happy.

I took the picture. It might be nothing special but I fucking loved the result. Anyone can guess what it is?

So is Blaz Blue a good fighting game? I have only played the classic fighting games like King of Fighters, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat.

I picked this pic because I felt like having a character from Touhou and I was to lazy to find a good avatar pic of my favored characters so this one of Reimu Hakurei works.

Necron99/Peace changed his name and changed his own destiny.

He was built to be an assassin of all good to further the agenda of power. He completed his first mission and crumbled under the pain of it, though he was built he was sentient nonetheless. He abandoned his creator and fought for his individuality in constant pain, ridicule and turmoil on his entire journey. As the end of that video states "Necron99 has destroyed himself"... but the destruction is only seen as wasteful to those who cannot ever understand the transformation it accomplished.

I changed my first name when I was eight and still go by that name, and, well,

I bought the limited edition pack with all the extras, it was in the bargain bin, and man did I ever get my money's worth, all the special characters, full story mode with anime clips and text screen sections (essentially a manga with voice acting) and a massive unlockable art gallery, and this "journey to the abyss" mode which introduces some RPG elements.

I've played Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive before but Blaz Blue is more of the oldschool 2D fighter, but modernized, so every character has a lot of special moves, Relius and Ignis for example fight at their best side by side so his control layout is simplified to enable you to control both at once, whereas the vamp girl has so many special moves she almost lacks a direct attack, but then again when you can fly you don't do much direct attacking. Two other obvious favourites of mine are the robot girls Mu and Nu, Mu has ridiculously powerful slow attacks, decent quick attacks, and can place mine/turrets with her special, whereas Nu is a whirlwind of teleporting blades so she can attack practically anywhere, from any direction, at any time.

Mu's easy to use (sheer power) but her special is hard to master, Nu's tricky to use and tricker to master but if you can she's a bane to the slower more powerful characters while still dishing out enough to put down the speedsters.

I wonder if I could get a mildly suggestive avatar to trick the guys (who typically don't get any anyways :p) into writing less coherent thoughts and arguments :D

Then again, I'm not sure why i'd want people to be less coherent, that sounds counterproductive to my own future knowledge.

So you're saying you're a shallow, boring piece of shit? ... pointless and pretentious. :D

Yes, tho pretentious applies too. :D
The only people who genuinly loved me either still do or write me continuous hatemail, and I actually always tried not to hurt them. Oh boy, I must be good at it. What you wrote sounds awfully much like what they'd write in their anger. I can't deny the truth, buried deep inside.

I'll be on the lookout for an avatar... Slowly.

My avatars are whatever I like at the moment. They're usually chosen for aesthetic not meaning.

Current avatar is Major Motoko Kusanagi from the Ghost in the Shell movie.

Yes, but have you introspected into the cause for your aesthetic attractions? We can always look deeper. I like your avatar, though.

a) I'm a Mad Max fan...

b) ...but I also admire concrete realities. As such, I like the contrast of my avatar as set against the theoretical conceptualizations / anime characters that tend to prevail as avatars on this board.

c) Due to 'b', I often feel like I'm in the vast minority (on this board). Hence, "Last of the V-8 Interceptors".

My automatic reply is:

It saves the hassle of explaining.

Well, you just explained not having to explain, and, if you respond to this, you'll be explaining some more.
