You do realise you're the only one making this a, 'serious' issue?

It only appears that way because I made it look that way.

I think you preemptively answered your own hypothetical question.

Re: Who is the most influential person on this forum?

Aside from the purpose of satire, I'm confused as to why you would make something look serious if it wasn't actually serious?

So are you saying you're really not serious, that there aren't problems with how the moderators inform people of temporary bans? I mean, it only appears serious, right? Or were you serious about that part?

I mean I'm confused here, because it sounds like you're saying you're not really serious about there being room for improvement on the moderators' behalf, you're just making it seem that way?

So this was all satirical then? Or are you just oversensitive about trivial events?

Those were all pretty insignificant issues to get riled up about; just trolling/arguing for fun.

I think that is the most question marks I have seen you use in a single post. ^^

do you think that a member who is continuously hostile to people in a very blunt manner should be allowed just roam free?
The question wasn't asked to me, but yes, I do. If you don't like something, you have the power to ignore it and move on. I ignore plenty of stuff. Most arguments I get into with Scorpionmover end up with me ignoring him, for example.

Re: Who is the most influential person on this forum?

This thread is boring now.

I suppose it's still somewhat humorous watching Hawkeye trying really hard to act like his posts were all part of an, 'experiment'.

For a moment there I thought he was going to do a snafupants and have a glorious meltdown :elephant:

So has everyone noted well from Hawkeye how to troll with subtlety, grace, humour and rewarding effect?

A good troll keeps interest and momentum; exercises the full emotional range of its symbiot - feeding the whole community; strengthening it, repairing and purging it whilst also drawing the sustenance for its own wellbeing. Something like a medicinal leech.

A good troll is a wonderful thing - it should be praised, fed, exercised and loved. Mostly it needs hugs.

This thread is technically dead.

I enjoyed myself and it appears you did somewhere along the way. If you think I was genuinely serious about my rant then that is even more amusing to me. This seems like a very similar scenario to the end of the "What is a Genius" thread wouldn't you say? Even your response is similar to Snafupants' ^^

I'd have to be serious to get angry. I can't be serious in a place I can't take seriously. ;)

lol, what a load of bullshit. It's the lame "I was just joking" copout. I seem to recall you doing the same when you baited snafupants, which by the way I wouldn't expect from a "seasoned moderator" even if he is not on the forum he moderates. ;)

I'll make a note not to take you seriously in the future, then. Or your criticism pertaining to the competence of moderators.

It's probably because they believe they are right and therefore everyone else is wrong.

So naturally, they can't handle what they deem to be pure stupidity from the opposition and their anger focuses around picking holes in the oppositions blatantly illogical reasoning.

This creates a little anger pot that builds and builds until they simply can't handle it and meltdown.

I wish I was passionate about something enough to get genuinely angered about sweeping statements made against it.

I have already mentioned the "genius thread" similarities. If you feel it's all a copout - fine. It means nothing to me.

I am not a seasoned moderator either. Nor am I a moderator. There is a lie in there somewhere - I think.

Never take me seriously. It causes all sorts of problems.

Well, reading this thread was a total waste of my time...

If people have a suggestion, PM the mods: "Hey, maybe you could notify the forum about bannings in a thread? Kthnxbai." Simple. Direct. Succint.

This useless real or pretend drama? Bleh. If you're bored go troll somewhere else, being a nuisance is not acceptable.

It's almost amusing that when INTP's take a stand on anything they melt down :D

Taking a stand on something usually implies pushing values, beliefs, and ideals: in other words, feelings, or more specifically, Fi. Fi is doubly stunted in an INTP: not only is it the shadow of the inferior in terms of distance from the dominant, it must compete against Ti in a savage and hopeless battle for control of the psyche. Hence, INTP's will have a hard time 'taking a stand' on something without soon running out of energy and melting down.

So enjoy your Fi, Gopher! :) We'll see you on the logic field. Bring your A-Game. ;)

Why does everybody always suggest moving shit to PMs? It's a public forum, can the people you're talking to not see the normal talky threads? I mean, if you really do have a suggestion for a mod, sure, PM them, but you could also just mention them in the thread to draw their attention or whatever. Either way, why is discussing something on an open forum not a good way to use the forum?

Maybe we're not all extroverts or exhibitionists.

*looks at Yeti*

:p

Nah - it's just that a variety of means of communication makes for choice. Let each person decide which medium suits them.

There's merit in public discussion of mundane issues, but there's also merit in keeping the housekeeping out of the way of the juicy stuff. Some of us get a little overwhelmed with clutter.

edit: however, if housekeeping can be made juicy...

Your posts nowadays are several degrees lamer than the kinds of posts you used to make. It's like lor but more mundane and faux-funny. Like this *wink*nudge* kind of roll-eye humour ('however, if housekeeping can be made juicy...') and ugly worldly wisdom where there used to be this gossamer-web of fragile, spiritually anguished, inner beauty. Haltingly expressing itself in one of the few places it could bear to, always on the verge of breaking, but illuminated by some blinding light that just barely made its way out into the world. It was an honour to be around.

Maybe I'm misconstruing and I just missed out on the lameness back then or am missing out on the beauty now, I don't know. Perhaps I'm distinguishing elements which haven't changed in relative dominance over time as much as they appear to me to have changed. Either way suffering suits you better than comfort.

No, I think you're right.

I have no impetus or doorway to be vulnerable here any longer - the community is different. I'm simply more protected and acting from within a shell that needs maintain an adminning role here. So faux-self is an accurate impression. I made that transition during a time I chose to call myself faux, in recognition of the fact.

Places in time vanish. Trust is something ephemeral.

Actually not at all.:)

I was referring to the Kuu/ Hawkeye trollfest.

And I don't hate you. To be honest, I think you have potential here... you just need to slow down and make sure your spelling/ punctuation is correct, if only because I'm partially anal-retentive.

While I largely agree with the points JennyWocky and HawkEye are making (whether they be real or fictitious), I see no reason to be this aggressive about it. JennyWocky's attitude actually shocked me, though I know little of the context surrounding it.

HawkEye's trolling was shit. How one derives any satisfaction from inflammation that is the fruit of little more than base cunning is beyond me. It actually sort of pisses me off that someone would deliberately obfuscate an already dank discussion in a forum that they seem to have some investment in (1000 posts+). Is he shitting in the nest before he leaves? He's shedding whatever credibility he enjoyed for so very little in return.

I think it was somewhere halfway in-between "cop-out" and "deliberate trolling". I had a great time watching everybody fight I don't see why it has to be a problem.

I really hope everybody realizes how stupid this was - not that it happened, but how the key players reacted. Breathe people.

It was perfectly reasonable to post his concerns that the banning was sly and underhanded, where he thought it should be publicly announced.

Another way to reply (if not wanting to do as ----- did), would be to say, "oh hey yeah wizard that's some legit shit i'll just go post that thread right now because YOU ARE RIGHT"

It's all over but the commentary,

"... not wishing to make spectacles of themselves, the INTPs have retreated into quiet seclusion to smell their fingers, eat cereal and wash their hair. They'll return, one day, to join the herd as if they never even left. Until then, they are gone."

Shocking? Hardly. (Although I guess it gives me a better idea what my forum image is.)

Strategic, maybe. When the old way doesn't work, why keep doing it? I found being passive and "reasonable" all the time usually got me nowhere IRL as well, sometimes you need to try things from a different angle.

EDIT: ...Looks like Hawkeye said basically the same thing. *shrug*

I am neither angry or frustrated. My main area of critique was lack of communication to the community as a whole on temporary bans.

I just chose a method of approach that gets the quickest response from those whom it involved. It may have seemed harsh, but the message was received far quicker than any other approach.

This seems quite amusing that your most recent posts have been non-constructive announcements of your boredom, or more recently locking a thread you find boring.

Kuu the hypocrite said:

Your recent posts are more useless than mine, as they add no input to a thread.

Was - writings

A singular tense for a plural subject

And we shouldn't necessarily need one as long as the message is being adequately expressed.

Yes Kuu is, objectively viewed, posting the most useless content and causing a lot of the worst disruption on the forum, holding others to a standard he is furthest from meeting. If he has so little time for the forum he should step down and let somebody who cares about the community nurture it with care and without boredom. It's interesting to note that this boredom seems to be something of a culture amongst the mods/admins, three of whom have expressed outright contempt for the community as a whole.

If you are bored by or don't care about or like a community, I don't think you're in a place to lead it. Especially if you have a tendency to express your boredom through an empty and lazy authoritarianism.

That said, I don't think most of the mods/admins actually do dislike the whole forum experience as much as they claim, in which case they should get it together and stop making the whole thing feel like a bad trip through moaning and affected above-it-all boredom. If you care enough to 'fulfill duties', how come you don't care enough to fulfill them with nurturing care and inspiring conduct? If you don't care enough about the second, why are you still here, instead of doing something with your life you care about enough to do well? Get it together. lor , Fukyo (and even Kuu) etc. are historically good admins who acted leniently and competently and allowed the community to develop organically, but a toxic, lazily self-congratulating and damaging culture seems to have been allowed to develop amongst administration. You're more interesting and worthwhile people than that. Cut it out.

And just to be clear, this drama came to me, not me to it. When you make bad decisions people get upset and drama happens.

Seriously? So you think it should read, "I don't think what I wrote were grammatically incorrect"?

The subject in that sentence you quoted was "what," not "writings."

Does your own writings provoke episodes of being anal-retentive? :D

It is grammatically incorrect, but it is not the word writings that is wrong.

The correction lies with the word does. It should be:

Your recent posts are more useless than mine, as they add no input to a thread.

I liked that Kuu took this away from all the toddler temper-tantrums, his input was just about the best in the thread since your drama queen rant about the injustices committed by the moderators of INTPf(buh I woz jus trolinz guise!).

Less is more.
