Well, if you can trust my ability to hear this morning, and the playback of my laptop speakers, I can hear up to 16 Khz very well, but I can't pick up 17 Khz at all. That's unfortunate - I thought I was better off than that.

Hm... male 24. What are you gathering samples for?

Just curious. A relative tested my hearing earlier with thi program, and he himself got to 13 khz. My younger sister is at 14.

I can hear up to 16 decent. 17 is more of an awkward annoying feeling to my ears, and 18 I can't hear a thing. (22 year old male)

Up to 20khz. The test is silly, actually. All headphones/speakers have a non-linear frequency response and usually the cheap-mid priced have a relatively bad high freq. response, so basically the test shows how awesome your audio equipment is, not how "high" can you hear.

I could hear up to 18, but I've got some decent speakers.. strange considering I listen to loud music all the time. (22 M)

I could hear 17 just barely (holding my ears pressed up to the speakers), and 18 not at all.

I think it largely has to do with my laptop speakers, though, which are absolutely awful. I know I can hear a bit higher, because I took a class on physics in music and the professor tested the class. I don't remember what I got up to exactly, but under 20k for sure, but I'm relatively sure that it was over 17k.

male/26. I got up to 18k. notably quieter than 17k. I can faintly hear 19k turned up a lot. Not sure if its my hearing or the speakers. i have low-mid end logitech 5.1 speakers, nothing too impressive. Says they go up to 20hz but the response Amazing considering some of the loud concerts I've been to. My hearing has always been sharp, directly processing language not so much. I find myself asking people, what? a lot even though I heard what they said. I think I've gotten better at it over the years but I still find myself doing this sometimes

if I hear 17k 100%
18k is about 80%
19k 5-10% if at all, I would need high end speakers to be sure

sometimes I have to unplug my old tv because it always makes a high pitch sounds that drives me nuts when I'm overtired. I can hear high pitched sounds from many electronics.
maybe this is part of my hypersensitivity.

Anyone of any age that can hear over 20k is very rare

True. I could just barely hear 20khz from my nicer cans.

I'm way too sensitive to sound. Either physically or mentally.. it just overwhelms me unless it's from one source and in focus.

I could hear 18 quite clearly. Didn't hear 19 at all. Awful sounds.

I could hear up to 20. I could tell when the tone started and stopped for 21 & 22, but I couldn't really hear it.

My sound equipment isn't anything special.

I'm male, 25.
With my laptop I only heard up to 17, with my other computer... I did hear up to 21 (surprisingly quite well), but nothing on 22. (well actually, with being so called blindfolded, I can tell when it's playing and when not, but that does not remind anything similar to the others)

I used to work in a noisy factory, and we did have this kind of similar test in order to check effects of working there. All I know my right ear did not hear up to this point as my left ear did (yes, we did check differences).

Can hear 18, 19 barely (when i put my ear close to the speaker). M, 21.

I can also hear high pitched sounds from many electronics. It's bloody irritating.

For some reason, I can't get the test to work. I don't know what the deal is...

There are apps for cellphones, and with this test, it can be saved as files to your comp (the differing khz frequencies) so you might need to save and open them individually.

18m. 20kHz
I've taken this test before on really crappy speakers and listening on my nicer speakers made a big difference.

I want to take one of these tests for LOW frequencies, but I guess the crappyness of most sound equiptment makes this impractical...:(

22 kHz started to drop off a bit, but I could still hear it fine O_O. I listen to bats echo-locating at night..

edit: M/25 btw

I know this may sound a bit unlikely.. but I took a few tests on youtube that go to higher kHz (not sure of their accuracy, though comments confirmed that most people couldn't hear to the end), and I got up to 30 kHz, though 26 and up consistently changed from a high pitched type sound to a lower sounding hum on all the tests.

edit: Just watched a couple dog whistle videos on youtube and realized I can hear them too O_O.

I can hear up to 17 khz, but not very well, unless I turn it up quite a bit that is. 16 I can hear very well. Can't hear above 17 khz, at least not with these speakers, might be able to with better ones (not all speakers are exactly equipped to deal with higher frequencies).

If only I hadn't attended so many very very loud metal concerts without wearing earplugs... I really have abused my hearing a lot. At least I've gotten wiser now.

I can also hear the sound that Can You Hear like a Teenager article clear as day. I guess that means I still have pretty good hearing for someone my age, especially considering I have quite a bit of past loud noise exposure.

All those noises are really annoying.

I could just barely hear 15 and I really had to turn up the speakers.

My 3 year old boy seemed to be able to hear up to 19.

EDIT: My 6 yr old boy could also hear up to 19. However, my 9 year old daughter couldn't even hear me from the other room, so I didn't test her.

Could hear up to 17 kHz, and 18 was just an annoying vibration in my ear. I sensed it, but not as sound.

Note: my speakers aren't the best and there's background noise.

The validity of this test is extremely questionable, due to low-mid end equipment not being able to produce certain frequency between different users, so it is not an entirely accurate assessment. That is also even assuming that the codec's used are lossless or extremely accurate. Also audio is subjective especially when auditioning speakers, so this test is limited to variables of equipment, such as frequency reproduction with the speaker, and within the amp circuits on the sound card, and codecs, this is not an entirely accurate meassure. May be changing the title to "can you hear your equipment reproduce these sound frequencies" seem to be a better title. :p
