While reading from a link I found on INTPc, I discovered That Carl Jung himself was an INTP. Did you know this? How does this knowledge make you "feel"?
Einstein and Jung...we kick ass!

Their types been debated in a couple other threads- I'd find you links but I'm on my iPod. Perhaps later, or if someone else would be so generous.
Although it would be awesome to share a type with such distingished figures, it honestly wouldn't make me feel any better about myself. It's just something that is.

Well... no. Jung was most likely an INFJ, probably INTJ. Also, I always cringe when I see people abusing their type as a source of pride. In fact, it's not much different from white power and similar stuff. Being an INTP is not an achievement. It's nothing you have ever done anything for. You are not Einstein.

Yeah, I know it's no achievment. I just thought it was an interesting thing to know. I didn't mean it in any abusive or prideful way, however, and I'm sorry If thats how you interpreted it...

although the "we kick ass!" bit was a tad overboard

Ha, quit being such a sourpuss Anthile.

We INTPs rejoice by virtue of the fact that we did *nothing* to earn this.

Simply, by luck of the draw, we ended up as one of the most fantastic types available!

I mean come now, logical, cold and contemplative is the stuff dreams are made of!

*sigh*

You INFJ's are so prissy!

Also, Anty, the 'INFJ's think everyone cool is an INFJ' joke was funny the first time, but the next eight seven times it got a little dry.

That's a bit hyperbolic. I see no harm in enjoying a similarity between yourself and individuals you admire. It is not the same thing as wanting to kill or oppress whole groups of people who are different from you.

I rather like Anthile's sour response. That type of critisism will teach me to better and more thoroughly convey my thoughts into words so that everyone knows exactly what I mean to say, instead of expecting them to magically read my mind to figure out what I'm trying to say.
So thank you, Anthile, keep up the "sourpuss" attitude

What he said... Minus the part about him being probably an INTJ, I'm pretty confident he as an INFJ.

Though, dear Trebuchet, I'm sure the combined INTP representatives of the world would take a very long time deciding upon whether or not wiping out INFJ's was a good idea.

*Starts singing 'everybody wants to be a cat' only replacing 'cat' with 'INTP', and thus ruining it horribly*

Adymus has got it too:D

Oh, and actually, I quite like Anthile, but I do hope he feels better soon... He was very cheery last year, but halfway through he became rather dreary, for obvious reasons.:(

Jung seems to me a pretty clear Ti dominant. (I know Adymus will correct, but please, when you do, elaborate and help me understand the reasoning why, and I am willing to agree)

This is probably affected by my vain attempt to project myself onto people I idolize, which is among the reasons why I find it easy to believe Einstein as an INTP, as well.

However, when I read Einsteins memoirs, I find I truly agree with him as a person, which helps increase my evaluation that something must correlate between him and me. This is in regards to his take on philosophy, and though I used to find Quantum theory very amusing, it has turned out to be a bitch, since the whole idea of empirical knowledge or apprehension of the universe seems to end at a point, leaving you with a vague equation to approximate a field which in the quantum is supposed to exist.

Hmm. Once again, the wretched tangents of my haphazard thinking is all too clear in my writing.

What about Stephen Hawking ?

From reading some of Jung's work, you can pick up the pattern that he does not write like a Ti dominant. It reeks of Ni. Read some of Marie Von Franz's (a dominant thinker type) books versus Jung's on the same subject. You'd have to look at the patterns of their writing. In one of Marie Von Franz's books, she states that Jung was an 'intuitive'.

Some of Jung's theories (synchronicity) and preferences (astrology) smell like something a Ni-Fe would like; however, I'd like to examine this more, and my gut feeling is that Jung is an INTJ.
