How did you get permission for to do that anyway?
It's thanks to your super special awesome admin powers isn't it. -_-

No, I just asked politely.

Alright, but whatever happened to Cognizant?
I thought the 'z' looked pretentious.

*gasp* he has admin too? that makes... LoR, kin, and..... cog?
I just play devil's advocate, I don't actually do anything.

I refused to address you as 'oresama' at any given time, so this just makes things more convenient.

Does this mean a return to the robotics and genetic manipulation that you never really abandoned in the first place?

I like how organic the machine looks.

Like the curve or a spine or centipede.

Uh, you were the brain inspector?

Sorry sir, I am in fact brainless.

Sorry sir, I am in fact brainless.
Evidently you borrowed mine for a second there.

Now *pulls out a notebook* I'll be taking reservations, c'mon people don't be shy, dirty thoughts don't clean themselves out y'know, lor/snowqueen I'm looking at you, and will somebody capture Cobra for me, his appointment is long overdue.

Nyx/Fukyo/Auburn, I require 'magnetic' nurses to draw the patients in, payment will be in stolen memories and 'toys' of a technical nature (gadgets, weapons, transport, etc).

Silly Tuesday.

I am afraid I must cancel any and all appointments sir.

My tainted, demonic thoughts are my most precious belonging, in fact, my only precious belonging.

Furthmore I don't take to probing, mental or otherwise.

Cog, my dear... I submitted all my vilest thoughts to you in ages past, in the trust that you would do something truly great with them!

I'm still waiting.

I'll attribute that to ignorance.

*Puts a shiny little disk that looks not unlike a shirt-button on Auburn's forehead, it sticks, then promptly sinks/dissolves into hir skin without leaving a trace. Moments later Auburn finds hirself standing in a endless, idyllic, grassy field, under a sapphire blue sky populated by the fluffiest blue clouds imaginable*

Most of my research and development is of a theoretical nature, only when pushing the boundaries of known physics need I actually perform physical experiments, for everything else this FLC (feedback loop construct) or 'dreamscape' is more than sufficient, well quite literally ideal in fact. Now there's many advantages to having one's laboratory in a FLC on a host-server speeding away from earth at almost the speed of light with quantum entanglement being the only means to access it (hence augmenting your brain) the most obvious of which being security; nothing short of FTL technology will enable unauthorized access to the host-server (unless someone removed the augment from one of our brains, assumedly killing one of us) and even if someone did catch up with it, well aside from the time differential, there's the nigh impossible task of trying to hack into it without activating one of the various failsafe countermeasures, and y’know I love sadistic failsafe devices.

But I digress, your friends and items are all here, the robots’ minds were already here (I only destroyed their bodies, do you honestly think I’d erase an AI?) and your stuff has been reconstructed from their impeccable memories; don’t you prefer this seemingly endless dreamscape of theoretically infinite possibility to that dingy basement?

Even if you don't, you can always go back, it's here too, in memory.
54082d5d76b5dd93f3741f05d993d27d9da1ad1b.jpg

Oh btw, if you want out, just focus on that thought, this isn't some mind-prison like the matrix, it's more of a dream-trance thing, a feedback loop between what you perceive and what you're thinking, i.e. expectation shapes the reality of a dream.

Clean thoughts please, there's a filter but it's has limits.

Welcome back. I shall continue in calling you OreCog.

Ah Coggie you're such an ammoral puritan.
You can't honestly expect to gain a full understanding of the human mind through filters. Foolish robot.

*Nyx activates a device concealed inside her stethoscope to release a controlled EMP, shorting out cog's system and causing him to fall unconscious. She works quickly having only a few minutes until cog reboots.*

Ah now that you're finally awake we can get started. I wouldn't move if I were you, your power supply has been severely restricted and I've isolated you consciousness. You have enough energy to remain fully cognisant, but not enough to engage in physical movement. I've run a hard line between you and Melkor, and in a few moments I'm going to force your consciousness into his perverse mind as a powerless observer.

No filters. :twisteddevil:

Think of it as a favor Coggie. If you manage to retain your sanity (or what shreds you have left of it) you will have overcome your delicate sensibilities and thus be able to explore the human mind in it's pure raw state.

I'll come and retrieve you in a few hours. ;)

This picture has reminded me that a surprising number of my most vivid dreams revolve around forced surgery or some kind of dismemberment, one in particular, some years ago, when I was forced to undergo surgery to replace all of my biological components with robotic implants with no anesthetic whatsoever. :phear: (ahem, must stop watching Star Trek episodes with Borg before sleep)

I think I'm suffering from hypothermia. However shall I be saved?

The interesting thing is these aren't described as nightmares but merely as vivid dreams...

Hey! It's not poisoned or anything!
I wouldn't poison them when they've /just/ got their old usernames back, I'd wait a bit, lull them into a false sense of security and.... *decides to shut up before she gives her plan away* =P

Hmmm
well as a reward. I shall gift you with a really interesting universe to play in... I'm done with it and it might prove distracting enough... Particularly because it is not entirely fantasy...

OTHERWORLD
Book 1—City of Golden Shadow (Hardcover 1996, Paperback 1998)
Book 2—River of Blue Fire (Hardcover 1998, Paperback 1999)
Book 3—Mountain of Black Glass (Hardcover 1999, Paperback 2000)
Book 4—Sea of Silver Light (Hardcover 2001, Paperback 2002)
The story opens with Paul Jonas, a British infantryman in an apparent part of the Western Front of World War I. Wounded, he has a vivid dream in which he meets a "bird-woman", and after he wakes up, he discovers one of her feathers with him in the trenches. Realising that the world is not as it seems, he flees, pursued by his comrades Finch and Mullet, who have suddenly assumed a much more sinister appearance. Suffering from almost complete memory loss, he begins to travel through a series of bizarre worlds, seeking answers to who he is and his connection to the bird-woman. She appears to him in several guises as he travels, and is initially one of the few things he remembers from before the trenches.

Meanwhile, in the late 21st century, technology has advanced so that the internet has become a vast Virtual Reality network. However, around the world, children are falling victim to a disease known as Tandagore Syndrome, which in its most serious form is a deep coma from which the patient cannot wake. Irene "Renie" Sulaweyo, an instructor in "virtual engineering" at a polytechnic institute in Durban, is devastated when her younger brother, Stephen, falls victim to this disease. She and her former San technology student !Xabbu (pronounced with an unspecified clicking sound, as in the Xhosa language) begin to investigate what has happened and start discovering strange goings-on in the Net, including a sinister hypnotic entity...
