Hello all. Another INTP here. As a teen I was mistyped "ENFP" because I was trying so hard to be ENFP. Now that I'm older (much older) I retested as INTJ. After reviewing all the info I could find I am quite confident I am an INTP wishing to be more "J". After all, life would be easier as a INTJ. I have a highly developed E from years of pretend but interaction drains me terribly. Survival also helped me develop my F to a degree but it's more conditioned than natural.

I think I'm a typical INTP. Despite my intelligence I sit at 35 sill wondering what to do when I "grow up" (so wish I were more J in this respect).

Make some long winded goal to achieve at some date in the future and work towards it. As for myself, my goal set for the age of 35 is to own a small consulting firm where I can earn a modest income and play around with mathematics. My second goal is to propel the libertarian movement forward. Hence, for the last few years I have been improving my ability to speak publicly such that I will be better able to sway the audience.

It is perfectly fine to not have a goal and simply do what make you happy.

I wish I was less J. And I'm not much of a J.

What is it that you want?

Thank you for the input. My downfall is that I have entirely too many long range goals (or options). Whenever any of them appears to be close to completion I lose interest or self-sabotage.
Honestly, at my age and with two children I need to see something through. I wish I had more of the supposed "J" self-confidence and drive to see conclusion. I feel like I've let my life slip through my hands knowing I could do anything but actually doing nothing of lasting value.

hahahah I don't think that will change somehow

I'm also always looking for new challenges. I've got a good job but keep studying just for the sake of it & to be able to do something completely different, restless type

I think I've made a breakthrough. My "dream" career is not going to make me happy. At best I want a career that I find tolerable and provides enough income to pursue my varied interests. I think quite a few choices would fit that bill. Now, I just need to narrow it down.

Melkor feel free the beer is all yours (ick).

I love it how everyone has to mention they are intelligent.

Hrm, for me it is indeed a large part of my self-identity. I know there are many many people smarter than me. However, I think it's the one aspect of myself that I am actually confident about.
