Soo I decided to join here because the other forum I typically go on is down. However, as much as I like INTPs, I feel a little intimidated, like I don't belong here. Not cause I think I'm too dumb . . . I've encountered some really stupid INTPs . . . but just because we're so different. Also, I feel like there's a lot of stereotypes surrounding ESFPs so hopefully I can work to break them. Anyway, that is all.

Please, don't feel intimidated. We try to be friendly to everyone. If you'd like to break down stereotypes, then tell us about yourself:

--How do you use logic in life?
--What is your relationship with your inferior function, Ni?
--How do you interact with others?
--What great standards do you uphold, if any?
--How has philosophy affected your life?
--What are your fondest memories?

my fondest memories are from summer camp, outdoors, in the evening.
philosophy hasn't really affected my lfie all that much tbh. Not directly at least.
not sure what you mean by standards. standards for what is the question I'd ask I suppose...
I interact with others by talking and having trying to have fun and being physcially affectionate to try and make someone feel better if they say or something upsetting. pretty standard i would say.
I really know very little about my relationship with my Ni. I'm good at drawing and always have been?
People use logic all the time. I use it more concretely I suppose. I do what I want usually and don't have all that much discipline which is something I want to work on. But hmm, logic? I'm good at thinking up like things relevant to the current situation if that means anything at all which i'm not sure it does .. . at all.

Not necessarily about MBTI:

What is your personality like?

What are some advantages you think you have over others in dealing with the world, due to your personality?

Some disadvantages?

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

So I've noticed some of you guys are really disturbed so I probably won't be around much but
I will answer the questions posed to me and be on my way.

I don't want to come out and say the stereotypes I want to break because what if it's just me imagining them? I'd want to hear you're perception of ESFPs and then correct you or not from there.
One thing though is I've gone through phases of lower self esteem where I was a "shy extravert" and such.

My personality is . . . where do you begin with a question like that. Some things about me, I ae to break a promise. I don't edit my speech very well but usually its fine as I'm usually not ill intended. Um . .. I like to have fun, do physical things. I'm a dog person. uhhhh :P I'm getting kinda of short on ideas here. :P

I think I'm a good people person and have good understanding of the world. Also, believe it or not, I'm good at thinking outside the box. I don't use these things against people though. Why would you want to?

Disadvantages is definitely my lack of discipline. I attribute this to how I was raised though, not my type. Growing up I didn't have any chores, I didn't do my hw unless I felt like it etc. etc. I think this was good in some ways. It let me be a kid, but now as I'm getting older it's harder to transition into an adult.

I demand proof, considering you're a sensor. If you think outside of the box, then why do the crazy people around here bother you so much you're already running?

Individuals aren't always representative of the community(and definitely not representative of the other members), but I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to stay after seeing that.

If you're looking for a place to hang around until that site is back up, there's reddit.

p.s. thanks for answering

This make me choke/laugh/snort/make gurggling noises a little mostly in my head.

I don't think I have ever bothered thoroughly reading the thread that disturbed you so much, but I don't think there was any reason to be upset or defensive about the "demand you explain" thing, I mean I can see how that could have came off as rude especially if you were actually expressing real feelings of disturbance and then were told that.

The "demand you explain" thing came off as a joke to me when I read it, but as did your statement that some of us are disturbing- hence my chuckling to myself.

But then reading your next reply it seems you weren't calling us disturbed as a joke or compliment? You actually meant it?

Communication break down at it's finest. ;)

I'm attempting to explain here, when I actually do not know the motives inside anyone's else's heads, but, to disturbed people I suppose odd things may be funny to them and end up being disturbing to others.

I don't think anyone meant to purposefully offend you however, I suppose they have to speak for themselves to confirm that, but I do not think they were.

Some of my better friends in life have been extraverted feels. Extraverted feelers, I mean. I think your lot is alright.

A practical reason to discuss the various ways one could kill someone is so that you know what yo look out for yourself...perhaps?

I am going to shut up now.

So we can write off ESFPs as sensitive creatures that can't stand either critisism or questioning? Wow. I never knew we were this crazy. Even now as I read through the thread, I can't see what we did wrong.

ESFP-guy, please come back and jive a little. We are curious.

Reading the thread it looks to me like

- s/he explored the forum

- found something abnormal

- labeled too many of us as "disturbed" to tolerate staying around

- came back to this thread to inform us so and also keep their commitment/promise to answer questions about themselves

- already having an unsavory biased taste in their mouth over the disturbing things they had discovered here became quickly annoyed and took way too seriously a light hearted statement "demanding they explain themselves"

- bailed, leaving us all in a tangle of confusion and amusement and confusion.

ESFP (and similar types) sensitivity training guide.
As an INTP or similar type you may have found ESFP’s rather emotional and prone to all kinds of irrational decision making. While we can’t change them immediately there are a few things we can do to minimize the damage done to them and the resulting confusion we find ourselves in.

First rule, DO NOT MAKE JOKES
Unless the jokes are blatantly obvious or said with the proper tone with vocal communication jokes are inherently a bad idea. While many ESFP’s love jokes as an INTP or similar type the jokes that tend to be produced are unsuitable. This is because they either involve sarcasm or dry humour which won’t be picked up on. Dry humour and sarcasm often involves a worst case scenario and when the emotional subject hears the wrong scenario they often believe that is what you really mean and will get upset.

Second rule, DO NOT ASSUME THEY MADE A JOKE
If you think they may have made a joke make sure to confirm is a subtitle way that it is or wasn’t a joke. Also the likely hood they would make a joke you understand is also minimal. If you make a joke in relation to their joke then if it wasn’t a joke you could be in trouble.

Third rule, DO NOT TALK ABOUT DEATH OR UNHAPPINESS OR IN ANY WAY MENTION THE SLAUGHTER OF UNICORNS
Often they can’t deal with the reality of death in a calm and collected manner. While not many can even under the so called rational types it is particularly the case in ESFP’s. Also the manner in which it is discussed is completely different.

Third rule, YOU CAN IGNORE LOGICAL ORDER FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR SANITY
They will not mind if something isn’t correct as long as it makes them feel better. This goes hand in hand with the forth rule in more ways than one.

Fourth rule, IF THEY MAKE A MISTAKE DON’T OUTRIGHT CORRECT THEM
Be gentle, ask them questions like are you sure that is correct? Or that’s odd I thought it was this way. Let them realise they are wrong without telling them they are. Make sure that when they realise that if they say “well I like this way better” that is completely logical to them. It is logical because they are using subjective and emotional logic.

While there are many other rules this is all for the beginner course in dealing with ESFP’s a sensitive manner.

Looks like I missed awshum. Yep. An ESFP. Here are some guesses.

Being an "S", awshum won't return. The specific reason for the visit was fulfilled.
Being an "E", awshum can socialize elsewhere. Here is just one place of many.

I wish awshum would return because I'd like to try to engage ... which is what was tried here. Somehow I'd like to use the feeling thing as a connection. awshum gave a clue, as you've observed, by reacting to the "killing" thread:
http://www.intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=15369
I did too, but in a different way. We could have talked about those different ways of reacting. INTP's are cool and will examine. ESFP's are hot and react with a force.

Those differences, we find of interest.
Notice how in the killing thread, I removed all feeling: here. Would awshum have been bored or thought it useless in the face of the horror of actual killing? We may never know.

Also I am disappointed everyone missed my joke. I guess that is Ne for you. The third rule logicly should have been the fourth rule and it was the one about logical order which had a lot to do with the fourth rule in more ways than one because it was the fourth rule.

@The Gopher : I noticed, I just didn't think it needed any pointing out. And for what it's worth, i may have, produced a smile ;). (I obviously instantly cleared it from my face, as INTPs do not show emotions and all that crap, but hey!)
