Nope. Doubt it'll ever happen. It's mostly my fault: I've been asked out before by some really nice guys but I had no idea how to respond so I ended up declining. I don't express emotion often and it's difficult to fake it for a long period of time. This is probably a big turn off.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
It's hard to find someone to have a decent conversation with. Though a lot of people I meet are very nice, talking with them gets boring really quickly.
No matter how much I achieve intellectually, socially I am always a disappointment . Which makes me feel highly inadequate.

I was sitting bored one day, researching random subjects, and fell into psychology, eventually looking into personality, and reading multiple descriptions but not taking tests. From just reading i thought myself to be an INFJ at first. After looking for tests through the internet i came across one on humanmetrics.com and it labeled me as an INTP, after reading the description i found it to make much more sense than INFJ, and took the test several times just to reassure myself.

(From my Introduction thread) - "Well it's been quite a long story, as to why/how my presence lurks here today. Four years ago I found out about the 16 personality types. I took the test right then, and I hit 'ENFP', but was rather reluctant to this result and assumed I'm ENFJ instead . In these past 4 years, sadly I had been through a psychological condition, and therefore it put a lot of impact on my life. In both negative and positive ways.

Just recently I had taken the function test. Which was said as to being the most accurate tests. So therefore I hit the result 'INTP'. I also doubled my certainty as to taking two of those types of tests and re-doing both. On different days just so I wasn't doing it from my mood, but rather from my honest preference. And so... I got INTP from every angle.

I typically read the INTP profile and it seemed to have reflected a lot of myself."

I'm not sure, but I think a friend introduced me to MBTI and the Enneagram. I'm an INFP, but get typed as INTP often. It took me a while to work out that I was an INFP. I think it's that 5 I have in my tritype.

Hmm I have many interests, but I guess learning if that counts. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and learning/playing piano. The subjects that interest me are typically in the social studies area and sciences.
I also enjoy playing some sports, however I haven't done much of that as of late.

Hardest thing about being an INTP?

I'm not an INTP, so I'll just say what the hardest thing is about being an INFP. Though this may be me, and not really INFPness. I think it's forming connections with people. It's hard finding someone you can converse with and feel comfortable with. Lacking social skills doesn't help.
Having strong feelings for certain things is a bother. Especially when it violates values and such (typical dom Fi, I know P: ). I dislike getting out of control like that, or letting my emotions run rampant. I'm probably a strange INFP, since I tend to fight feelings I have (usually negative) and/or tend to analyze them when it isn't really necessary.
Procrastination is a huge problem. Having my head stuck in the clouds as well. People (mainly Sensors) usually point out my lack of attention.
But I guess the hardest thing is knowing you'll never be understood, yet still expect (and want) someone to come along and somehow do exactly that.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Hmm..Probably the fact that you're so different from everyone else. While that being a good thing in my book, it gets really difficult at times when you quite desperately need someone to share your thoughts with but don't have anyone around who'd interested. Also, you tend to get caught up in your own world, trying to figure out why something happens a certain way or how something works and why it works etc. that the whole world seems to whiz past you without you even noticing. (or maybe it seems that way because you're so far ahead of everyone else)

I recently thought I might have schizoid personality disorder, but after spending some time on that forum, I didn't feel like I was fitting ALL the "signs and symptoms" of one with SPD. I started doing more and more personality tests and the more I did the more it came up INTP (okay, once, it said I was INTJ, but that was clearly wrong). I even told my mother who has NO interest in anything I like for the most part... and she was floored how well it described me. That's when I knew I was on to something. On the other hand, my friends now hate me because that's my only interest right now is gathering more information and more introspection. They're all a bunch of ESFJ's!

Hardest thing about being INTP?

INTP or not, the hardest thing about my life so far has been finding people for two-way conversation on a deep level. Over the years, I've collected a few friends online with whom I have conversation semi-regularly, but things just don't seem to click with most, online or off.

Something else hard for me is generating story ideas. I enjoy writing, but typically I am more reactive to prompts which require analysis, giving me impetus to respond.

Then there's lack of self-confidence. I can think about something, formulate obsessively, study pertinent information, and still feel like I haven't fully grasped it, so I become reluctant to share my thoughts. I'm not even sure I am an authority on myself, and I'm prone to an obsessive level of self-analysis at times.

As stated in the "About Me" portion of my profile, my psychiatrist suggested that I take an enneagram and MB test in order to help me determine which aspects of my character were abnormal. He didn't say so, but he had the impression that I was an INTP before I took the tests, mainly because he is one, which I also didn't know. I took the test several times on several sites (30 or so times over a month), and having read the descriptions of INTP behavior (especially intp.org), I decided that it fit.

I've studied personality and human relationship dynamics for many years, and the Myers-Briggs system was one of those. Hardest thing about being an INTP?

I've always found it hard to find people I can connect to on a deep level, who understand and show interest in social change and technological development. I find it frustrating and draining to be around shallow people.

On a more personal level, what I find hardest about my own personality is the fact that I'm a very slow, deep thinker, which means I'm terrible at quick debate and explaining myself verbally. Give me a spare day and I'll write a fantastic argumentative paper, but ask me verbal trivia and I'm screwed.

First of all, I love this question for differentiating between "what you do" and "how you make money", because, especially for INTPs, these can be very different things. I work as an over-the-road truck driver right now, which is one of the jobs I've hated the least. It pays well, but it leaves me very very little spare time at home. I have lots of time to think and be alone, which is great, but I want more time to explore my creativity and socialize with like-minded individuals.

What are your hobbies?

I spend a lot of time with computers and video games, as well as tabletop RPGs (mostly Pathfinder and Shadowrun). I really enjoy conventions like Dragoncon, and as soon as I move into a larger place, I'm going to try my hand at creating stylized armor- I love the act of creation, be it drawing, building, repair, etc. I also enjoy reading, studying, and learning, provided it is a topic and time of my choice and not defined under the rigid constructs of a class.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
It's really mellowed down as I've grown older, and gotten the SnapOutOfIt treatment from my wife and life in general, but I've had big difficulties with procrastination and dealing with social situations. Sometimes I feel terrible frustration when I'm obliged to do something my mind is NOT currently working with. The "Needing time for self, having a family" -thing. Can deal with these.

Best thing about being INTP?
I seem to be able to grasp some things with less effort than some. Objectivity. Both have flipsides, though, which is why I cannot really say that I am objective. Damnit that's a paradox again. F@@@! OK, I'll beat that thought with a counterattack and say that I value objectivity. That way I can describe my appreciation towards objectivity, while not claiming to be objective. Or can I? Ok fine. So objectivity is NOT the best thing about being an INTP. how's that? huh? Not true either. I give up. Objectivity is one of the hardest things. Oh man... That does not work either.
