How old are you?

18

What's your gender?

female

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

stumbled on some quizzes

How did you find out about this forum?

post owl

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope. Doubt it'll ever happen. It's mostly my fault: I've been asked out before by some really nice guys but I had no idea how to respond so I ended up declining. I don't express emotion often and it's difficult to fake it for a long period of time. This is probably a big turn off.

Do you have any kids?

nope

Do you have any pets?

A cat and a hamster - I like animals a lot better than people.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Writing, sleeping, watching tv, thinking, listening to music. Solitary activities.

How do you generate an income?

I worked part-time as a teacher at my local Sunday school. Definitely not the job for me.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
It's hard to find someone to have a decent conversation with. Though a lot of people I meet are very nice, talking with them gets boring really quickly.
No matter how much I achieve intellectually, socially I am always a disappointment . Which makes me feel highly inadequate.

I was browsing the internet trying to satisfy my desire of understanding everything and after enough digging, I found out about the MBTI and the tests related to it. After getting INTP again and again (no, not on the same day or week) I thought, maybe.

How did you find out about this forum?

Search engine query for INTP and enough flipping of the pages.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Do not and probably will never get. I don't really understand love and no one really understands me either. Life is all cycles.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I was sitting bored one day, researching random subjects, and fell into psychology, eventually looking into personality, and reading multiple descriptions but not taking tests. From just reading i thought myself to be an INFJ at first. After looking for tests through the internet i came across one on humanmetrics.com and it labeled me as an INTP, after reading the description i found it to make much more sense than INFJ, and took the test several times just to reassure myself.

Hello, weird humans.

What is your name?

Address me by "Lydia". It is my life code.

Where are you from?

Britain, Birmingham.

How old are you?

For 17 years I have been separated from 'free-will'.

What's your gender?

A girl.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

(From my Introduction thread) - "Well it's been quite a long story, as to why/how my presence lurks here today. Four years ago I found out about the 16 personality types. I took the test right then, and I hit 'ENFP', but was rather reluctant to this result and assumed I'm ENFJ instead . In these past 4 years, sadly I had been through a psychological condition, and therefore it put a lot of impact on my life. In both negative and positive ways.

Just recently I had taken the function test. Which was said as to being the most accurate tests. So therefore I hit the result 'INTP'. I also doubled my certainty as to taking two of those types of tests and re-doing both. On different days just so I wasn't doing it from my mood, but rather from my honest preference. And so... I got INTP from every angle.

I typically read the INTP profile and it seemed to have reflected a lot of myself.
"

How did you find out about this forum?

I had randomly googled it up, on a random day. In order to find some mutual aspects and relax my mind.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Yes - Myself.

Do you have any kids?

Who needs kids when you have a heart, of a child? Answer: NO.

Do you have any pets?

Three loveable, 2 year old cats. Who have been growing up in my house, since they were born. Very sadly, one had died. Did I have to mention that? Yes. He was my world.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I'm not sure, but I think a friend introduced me to MBTI and the Enneagram. I'm an INFP, but get typed as INTP often. It took me a while to work out that I was an INFP. I think it's that 5 I have in my tritype.

How did you find out about this forum?

I don't remember, but I know it was an accident. I think perhaps through google searching. Or maybe some forum. I don't know but I remember browsing for hours the first visit. xD

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope.

Do you have any kids?

No.

Do you have any pets?

I don't.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Hmm I have many interests, but I guess learning if that counts. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and learning/playing piano. The subjects that interest me are typically in the social studies area and sciences.
I also enjoy playing some sports, however I haven't done much of that as of late.

Hardest thing about being an INTP?

I'm not an INTP, so I'll just say what the hardest thing is about being an INFP. Though this may be me, and not really INFPness. I think it's forming connections with people. It's hard finding someone you can converse with and feel comfortable with. Lacking social skills doesn't help.
Having strong feelings for certain things is a bother. Especially when it violates values and such (typical dom Fi, I know P: ). I dislike getting out of control like that, or letting my emotions run rampant. I'm probably a strange INFP, since I tend to fight feelings I have (usually negative) and/or tend to analyze them when it isn't really necessary.
Procrastination is a huge problem. Having my head stuck in the clouds as well. People (mainly Sensors) usually point out my lack of attention.
But I guess the hardest thing is knowing you'll never be understood, yet still expect (and want) someone to come along and somehow do exactly that.

Hmm this came out a bit longer than I expected. >.<

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

Three years ago, got interested in personality psychology, found out about MBTI eventually, took the test and the rest is history.

How did you find out about this forum?

Chanced upon it a couple of weeks ago, while searching for relationships between the enneagram and the MBTI.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Haven't been in a relationship. Probably never will. Oh well..

Do you have any kids?

None that I know of.

Do you have any pets?

No. Don't fancy the idea very much.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

I read quite a bit. I'm also on my computer majority of the time I'm awake. (that is when I don't have school on or choose to skip it for whatever reason) Besides all of that, I also enjoy debating ideas back and forth with myself.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Hmm..Probably the fact that you're so different from everyone else. While that being a good thing in my book, it gets really difficult at times when you quite desperately need someone to share your thoughts with but don't have anyone around who'd interested. Also, you tend to get caught up in your own world, trying to figure out why something happens a certain way or how something works and why it works etc. that the whole world seems to whiz past you without you even noticing. (or maybe it seems that way because you're so far ahead of everyone else)

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

There was a thread started about MBTI on another forum that I use and I took the test. The first time I took the test I was about 16 and I got the same result. Over the last two years I've taken it a few more times and got INTP every time. I read the description and it fit me almost perfectly.

How did you find out about this forum?

Google I think.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Nope. Not sure if I would ever want to deal with being in one either.

Do you have any kids?
No.

Do you have any pets?

I have a kitty. :3

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Playing guitar, astronomy, history (specifically WW1, WW2, and cold war), reading, and psychology.

How do you generate an income?

Moving jobs every now and then, and money sent by family on holidays and birthdays.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

I can't think of one. I've been like this for as long as I can remember, so I think I've learned to cope with any of the difficulties. I guess one is that I tend to over think things.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I took an online test about 7 years back and tested INTJ. I lost interest. I took the test again about 2 years ago and tested INTJ again. I began to explore the theory and stumbled onto the various personality forums. My home is the INFJs forum. I have recently questioned my E/I and J/P axis and am looking at whether I am an ENTP.

What is your name?

My name is Nobody.

Where are you from?

The world.

How old are you?

10 years more than I look like.

What's your gender?

Rare.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

The Holy net.

How did you find out about this forum?

Found it while procrastinating and by serendipity.

Do you have a partner/lover?

Yes. Myself.

Do you have any kids?

Sure not. Well hugh, maybe when I was...

Do you have any pets?

All my family.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

Thinking.

How do you generate an income?

So far, by hands.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

Being exactly what others don't want me to be.

Do you feel alone?
What is feeling?

Is it painful?
Never.

Do you lie?
My view: often. Others view: never.

Will you die alone in a single room house with nothing in it but books, poor, sad (others view), sick?
Probably.

Are you OK with that?
Absolutely.

What you feel about others?
I feel nothing. I think they're suckers. But sometimes a little light shines, but not for long.

What do people think about you?
I don't care.

What you think about life?
Stupid most of the time.

What you feel about God?
I DO NOT FEEL ANYTHING. I think He's The Genius you could interview for the rest of your life without thinking you need some food sometimes.

What do you like/dislike?
I like nothing. I dislike a very few things like others. All others.

Is it serious?
I'm afraid yes. Life is not. Life is the only joke that makes me cry.

Are you happy?
I feel nothing. I don't know. I could answer the next minute after my death.

Do you think there's life after life?
The question, wich is very stupid, owns the answer. If dead is more than sleep, how could you feel:confused: , ok think you could think? are you thinking when sleeping? NO. You dream. Sometimes nothing happen. So death is nothing but blackout. The whole NOTHING. SO...hell, heaven, reincarnation, are crap.

Is god living?
Do you think complex math equation solves itself? NOOOO. Somebody has to do the job.

Are you sure?
I'm sure I'm not sure. But I'm sure God does exist. It has a deep sense. Nothing CAN'T make a thing. But a thing can do nothing or another thing. Ex: two human thing together make another little thing called a baby thing.

Is life painful?
Yes. I sometimes can feel it. It makes me so happy (to feel) when I realize I'm not as dry as a rock. Nobady believe. You explain: they don't understand. They don't care, but they judge you. Then I feel (for a second) deep pity for them.

So you feel?
not even wrong. Only sometimes. It has to be very strong.

Your aim?
Digging. Thinking. Try to share awkwardly. Being rejected. Dying.

Your wish?
None. Maybe not being born.

Please excuse my poor English (I'm a frog).

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
I recently thought I might have schizoid personality disorder, but after spending some time on that forum, I didn't feel like I was fitting ALL the "signs and symptoms" of one with SPD. I started doing more and more personality tests and the more I did the more it came up INTP (okay, once, it said I was INTJ, but that was clearly wrong). I even told my mother who has NO interest in anything I like for the most part... and she was floored how well it described me. That's when I knew I was on to something. On the other hand, my friends now hate me because that's my only interest right now is gathering more information and more introspection. They're all a bunch of ESFJ's!

How did you find out about this forum?

Google

Do you have a partner/lover?
Nope- And now I know why...

Do you have any kids?
Yup, 1 son--the light of my path in life, he's ENP! I think it's going to turn out to be ENFP, he's so in touch with his emotions! His name's acronym is already S.T.A.R.!
So it is written.... so it shall be :)

Do you have any pets?
I have 2 cats, brother and sister- the girl is awesome except now she likes to run away to chase things and come back later, the boy is clingy, meows for attention constantly, pees on my bed if I leave my door open and gets on my nerves, but he's really loving when I feel like petting him.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
Music, Comedy, freelance research for my brain, Fixing up my Facebook Timeline all pretty-like, having deep conversations with my son

How do you generate an income?
I'm an LPN at an outpatient psychiatric office (non-for-profit, which means non-for-good-income!)

Hardest thing about being INTP?
Nothing. People need to just get over themselves and stop trying to hug me.
I only WISH I knew my personality type earlier in life and took it seriously....I could have been the one to invent Facebook... I bet you Mark Zuckerberg is INTP!

No. I seem to be drawn to INTPs, INTJs, INFJs.

No. Hopefully one day!

Do you have any pets?
Two cats, Madeleine and Eloise. They are my constant sources of comfort and the need to vacuum.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
learning about people, teaching, reading, singing, meditation, nutrition, chocolate. being ENFP-ish just about everything is fascinating until some other shiny object comes along. the aforementioned are consistent throughout my life.

How do you generate an income?
educator. in a magnet program. shocking for an enfp, i know.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
caveat: i'm not an INTP. from watching my INTP students it strikes me that deep connections with others are the most frustrating things for them - whether it is finding others who want to go as deep as them on a topic, or finding a partner/lover/date.

Wasn't til a few months ago I realized I was naturally INTP; Was originally an ISFJ, thn that molded into ISTJ, INTJ.. INTJ forever it seemed. But recently, I realized I wasn't like the others; more lenient, not as uptight as others, too much feeling. It was exhausting to hide. And so here I am now. :3

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I've taken a few tests, all seem to indicate INTP, but I'm still trying to observe my thought processes and figure out if I really am INTP-ish. So far, I think so, but I could easily be wrong.

How did you find out about this forum?

The bit on typelogic about the mailing list amused me. I decided to see if there was an active forum.

Do you have a partner/lover?

No.

Do you have any kids?

I am not established enough yet. I might adopt, when older.

Do you have any pets?

I have one cat. He is a bit like me; he likes to sit unnoticed and observe people but is quite asocial, and he talks to himself at night.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

INTP or not, the hardest thing about my life so far has been finding people for two-way conversation on a deep level. Over the years, I've collected a few friends online with whom I have conversation semi-regularly, but things just don't seem to click with most, online or off.

Something else hard for me is generating story ideas. I enjoy writing, but typically I am more reactive to prompts which require analysis, giving me impetus to respond.

Then there's lack of self-confidence. I can think about something, formulate obsessively, study pertinent information, and still feel like I haven't fully grasped it, so I become reluctant to share my thoughts. I'm not even sure I am an authority on myself, and I'm prone to an obsessive level of self-analysis at times.

A few online tests for my psychology class in college, and then several recent online tests however I am skeptical because the test allow you to make youself out how you would like to see yourself and possibly deviate from the truth of who you truly are. How is it that so many teenagers are here? I am sorry but I would be shocked if the majority could understand the questions to answer them. Sorry for cluttering topic with skepticism.

How did you find out you were INTP?

As stated in the "About Me" portion of my profile, my psychiatrist suggested that I take an enneagram and MB test in order to help me determine which aspects of my character were abnormal. He didn't say so, but he had the impression that I was an INTP before I took the tests, mainly because he is one, which I also didn't know. I took the test several times on several sites (30 or so times over a month), and having read the descriptions of INTP behavior (especially intp.org), I decided that it fit.

How did you find out about this forum?

Googled "INTP forum"

Do you have a partner/lover?

No.

Do you have any kids?

No.

Any pets?

I had 3 cats before I moved out of my dad's house and into my INTJ Aunt and ISTJ Uncle's house. My aunt has 2 rabbits.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

There are few people that I can talk to about my ideas, for more than one reason, as I'm sure you know.

I went to a therapist and she gave me the test (I apologize I don't recall the name and it's 4AM and I don't want to walk 1 step to get it lol), and she gave me the results and it sounded exactly like me.

How did you find out about this forum?

Ironically I was googling "Jobs with no human contact" and came across a INTJ forum and I thought "Hmm, I wonder if there's a forum for my personality type." And so here I am.

Do you have a partner/lover?

I was somehow bestowed this overwhelming love for animals while my mom does not. I prefer mammals, but birds were the only thing she would say yes to, so I have 2 Cockatiels, a 6 year old male named Jasper, and a Young male named Anubis.

Hey everyone. I've been looking around for a new forum to hang around it, particularly one where people are up for discussing new ideas and concepts, technological and social. I figured I'd give this one a shot and see how I like it.

What is your name?

My name is Jim.

Where are you from?

I grew up in Warren, MI, and currently live in Ypsilanti, MI.

How old are you?

I am 30, or at least I will be 3 days from now.

What's your gender?

Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I've studied personality and human relationship dynamics for many years, and the Myers-Briggs system was one of those. I revisited the test recently and found myself struck by how much I resemble the "architect" archetype. This helped my fiance and I notice a few fascinating quirks to my personality.

How did you find out about this forum?

This forum was mentioned after taking a Myers-Briggs test.

Do you have a partner/lover?

I'm getting married in May of this year to a brilliant, beautiful, and engaging woman.

Do you have any kids?

Not at this time.

Do you have any pets?

Currently, we have an cat- a tiny little orange monster that chews on our feet and demands to go outside every 5 seconds.

In the past, I've had a chameleon and an iguana. I'm a reptile lover- if I was a shaman, I'd be a lizard shaman; I feel a close, almost spiritual connection to them. I'll probably get a monitor lizard or a tegu at some point after I get a different job that leaves me some more time.

Hardest thing about being an INTP?

I've always found it hard to find people I can connect to on a deep level, who understand and show interest in social change and technological development. I find it frustrating and draining to be around shallow people.

On a more personal level, what I find hardest about my own personality is the fact that I'm a very slow, deep thinker, which means I'm terrible at quick debate and explaining myself verbally. Give me a spare day and I'll write a fantastic argumentative paper, but ask me verbal trivia and I'm screwed.

How do you generate an income?

First of all, I love this question for differentiating between "what you do" and "how you make money", because, especially for INTPs, these can be very different things. I work as an over-the-road truck driver right now, which is one of the jobs I've hated the least. It pays well, but it leaves me very very little spare time at home. I have lots of time to think and be alone, which is great, but I want more time to explore my creativity and socialize with like-minded individuals.

What are your hobbies?

I spend a lot of time with computers and video games, as well as tabletop RPGs (mostly Pathfinder and Shadowrun). I really enjoy conventions like Dragoncon, and as soon as I move into a larger place, I'm going to try my hand at creating stylized armor- I love the act of creation, be it drawing, building, repair, etc. I also enjoy reading, studying, and learning, provided it is a topic and time of my choice and not defined under the rigid constructs of a class.

What is your name?
The simplest answer is "Blackbird." Or Professor, if you like.

Where are you from?
Currently the East coast of the US. Generally speaking, nowhere in particular. My planet was...never mind.

How old are you?
1,120. 20, for people I don't have time to explain things to.

What's your gender?
My SEX is female, genderneutral.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
I take a lot of personality tests for fun. I eventually found the MBTI and took that one, too.

How did you find out about this forum?
Google, essentially. I was looking up some other things and found some threads here.

Do you have a partner/lover?
Several. They're known as tea, books, night, and Watson.

Do you have any kids?
No, and I don't want any.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, but I don't think these people would take kindly to my publicly calling them such.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
I write, as a profession, so I don't think that's technically a hobby. I draw, knit, and spin yarn, as well as play violin.

How do you generate an income?
I make things up for a living.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
Keeping this kind of thing suppressed:

Hello there. I'm technically not a new member, but I've been away a long time and have decided to rejoin. I'm not sure if it will last but I might as well give it a try, right? I have some fond memories of this place and would like to see if it is still as I remember it. I hope to "find interesting and enlightening discussions". After joining the IRC channel, it is nice to see that I have not been entirely forgotten. Also, despite the avatar of the last poster, this post is not retarded; at least I certainly hope it isn't. See you in the threads! :)

What is your name?
Not telling because paranoid.

Where are you from?
Finland

How old are you?
35 or 36. I cannot remember, and too lazy to calculate. Born -76.

What's your gender?
Male

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?
Online tests, descriptions, observing. Although I'm not yet completely sure. (please type me)

How did you find out about this forum?
Google.

Do you have a partner/lover?
Yes. I'm married. For maaaaaaany years now.

Do you have any kids?
I have 3 daughters.

Do you have any pets?
Not since the cat died a couple of years back.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?
Currently programming and surfing. Yeah. Not the waves. I've done many hobbies in the past, though. Of which I'd prefer the musical ones to define me.

How do you generate an income?
I'm an architect. Not much of an income.

Hardest thing about being INTP?
It's really mellowed down as I've grown older, and gotten the SnapOutOfIt treatment from my wife and life in general, but I've had big difficulties with procrastination and dealing with social situations. Sometimes I feel terrible frustration when I'm obliged to do something my mind is NOT currently working with. The "Needing time for self, having a family" -thing. Can deal with these.

Best thing about being INTP?
I seem to be able to grasp some things with less effort than some. Objectivity. Both have flipsides, though, which is why I cannot really say that I am objective. Damnit that's a paradox again. F@@@! OK, I'll beat that thought with a counterattack and say that I value objectivity. That way I can describe my appreciation towards objectivity, while not claiming to be objective. Or can I? Ok fine. So objectivity is NOT the best thing about being an INTP. how's that? huh? Not true either. I give up. Objectivity is one of the hardest things. Oh man... That does not work either. What's bugging in there? The act of calling oneself objective. That feels false. How? Something to do with the observer-changing-the-thing-observed -thing? Possibly? Something to do with Zen? Possibly? The sword that cannot cut itself and that sort of stuff. HA! ! -> almost got it... Almost got it... So close... Ah lost it. I'll go with "obsessed about clarity".
