A degree in a post apocalyptic world would be of limited use. It would much more useful to have knowledge in survival skills and have a good ability to improvise and think outside of the box. However, a degree in math or engineering wouldn't hurt :)

Well, a similar question is; what makes us "click" with certain people? Could there be such a thing as a soul mate? The other half of ourselves? And perhaps we can see that in another person and somehow intuit the significance? I choose to answer yes to all of those questions.

I do like to keep things around for a little while, thinking perhaps that one day it would be useful. But I never really had to much of a problem with keeping stuff forever, my mother would not let me. But some things, such as my notebooks and my books I can't bear the thought of getting rid of.

Yeah, I used to a lot of that when I was younger. I would take apart watches, radios, lawn mowers and other stuff just to see how it worked, and in the process I became a fairly talented fixer of odds and ends.
