This is a really good game! You can play a while in the demo, but I think it's worth the 10$ they charge for it. Bought through the Ubuntu Software center :)
Makes me feel a bit stupid sometimes, when I spend a long time working out a solution :crazy0:
Isn't it so, that happiness is just a transition to something better than before, and thus only temporary? When you get used to the new and better, then you no longer feel happiness (but can still be content or satisfied).
Eg. if you win 10 mill. dollars you would feel happiness for a while...
Maybe I misunderstood the couch situation, since you said he was giving you a cold shoulder I just thought he was a dick. I agree that you should tell the ESFP alone, in front of others would probably just be weird. From what you describe, I think he is attracted to you in some way or another...
I just have to say your couch is an immature asshole for treating you like that, given the fact that he was aware of your personal tragedy. And I think you should express your gratitude to the ESFP in some way, it will help you develop your own Fe.
Same here. I like to punish myself thoroughly for my mistakes, thinking I will learn from it, but I never do.
This is what I call negative Si. It is a product of an immature and underdeveloped Si function. Our logic is often flawed when it comes to this, as we usually have gained new...
So you can either break the egg or break the chicken :aufsmaul: In my experience, psychiatrists or general practitioners, who can write prescriptions, generally tend to advocate medication. Different psychologists have different strategies, yes, but the main focus is not drugs.
If you can find a decent one, it may be easier to talk to a professional than to people that are close to you. At least you don't have to worry about how it may affect the personal relationships.
I have much of the same history in my own life. If the anxiety is general it is not easy to pinpoint. Some free and healthy suggestions I know actually does work for me when I am capable:
- Stop and take the time to breath in and out deeply for a couple of minutes, fully in, fully out. That...
What's the point of getting it done early? :)
If you have more time than last-minute, you could try to start with a small, open-ended goal. For example just 10 minutes to create the presentation files and type a few bullet points and nothing more. Who knows, you might even get carried away...
OK, so I'm an odd one amongst the odd ones :D
Maybe there is a thing called "sports interest deficiency syndrome"?
I agree that extraverted sensers may have an advantage in sports like football, maybe ESxP types. Then again there is also another category of sports where more precision is...
Once you stop doubting you also stop looking for alternatives. Constant search of better alternatives is a driving force in an INTP I guess, hence there will always be doubt. It can also be one of the INTP's greatest assets, if utilized properly.
Where goes the line between introspection/self-examination and self-criticism? What component of our mind turns it into criticism? Considering there might be both constructive and destructive self-criticism, what turns it into destruction and when?
self-crit·i·cal [self-krit-i-kuhl, self-]...
Simply answering one question "wrong" on those free online tests can tip you into an INTJ. I once ticket false/low on "often late for appointents", which turned me into an INTJ. I realise that is more an aquired trait, rather than a preference. It's strange though that INTJ has a totally...
Can't say I do. I do smile regularly throughout the day. It helps me to balance out the introvertedness a little.
Yes, they do. A sincere gesture of appreciation will bring out the smile in most people of any type, I think.
Only in America? :D Are you sure it's not a parody? It's really odd watching that "news" clip hearing how they present this in a fully serious and concerned way.
I noticed there aren't many threads on sports in this forum :smoker:
Does one have to belong to a typical type to enjoy sports? Which functions do sports appeal to? I've been exposed to football/soccer enthusiasts regularly, but never got caught up in it, always felt I simply lack a certain...
That's the way, embrace your emotions, they are the light towers in your life!
Tomorrow I'm gonna go ahead and clean my flat the minute I get home from work. There is no point in procrastinating.
In what sense do you regard it as a shadow, as an opposite or as something that follows you around, subconsciously?
The J/P descriptions however may very well be a valid perspective. I'm just not sure whether it is any particular type or shadow.
I am confused with the word shadow, as it sometimes refers to the shadow (ESFJ) and sometimes to shadow functions (Te, Ni, Se, Fi). What makes you say ISFJ?
Yes that is the point. If you think something would be nice to be able to develop, then you can practice it here. Try it without the quotes :D
And it doesn't have to be exactly the inferior function of the INTP, could be just a trait of a function, or any function and direction.
I mostly agree with you, OP. This is also my second time around this. And it is a natural conclusion to come to. There have been a time I too thought this shit is like astrology; tell me your type and I'll tell you who you are. But the MBTI is at least are more accurate than astrology in that...
The thread winner will be awarded with the opportunity of performing a solo stand-up act in front of a big crowd. There will be excessive mingling at the party afterwards. It'll be a great opportunity to aquire new contacs and advance your career as a TV host. Don't miss this great opportunity...
But then the psychological side effects will in turn generate psychological responses, and these are responses we, to a certain degree, can control. A high level of morning cortisol alone will not decide how to react.
Understanding the brain physiologically is a life profession of its own...
I just came up with this funny idea to try to express things that may not come natural to us, as a challenge.
So my first shot:
I get warm feelings from visiting this forum and a feel compassionate about you all :)
Look: I even started this thread without thinking to much about it.
Ok, I've discarded the idea of personality type shifts under stress and come to the conclusion now that the different mindset stems from an elevated activity in the more inferior functions. In order to stay in the so-called deal with it mode, considerable amounts of energy have to go into...
I've come to believe that just one or two functions cannot produce much alone. In order to develop a scientific theory you also need to make observations and apply them to your experience and link them to past observations. This could be Si if I am not mistaken. Without that you would at best be...
Well, said, I might be one of the 99%, but I consider MTBI almost play, having fun trying to categorise the uncategorisable, with a type system of intriguing simplicity and complexity. But what the MTBI can do, is spark an interest to learn more about the psychological theories behind it and how...
That was my first thought when I saw this poll, and would be my answer. Instinctively I think INTPs would be quite balanced, both logical (Ti, left) and creative (Ne, right).
Happy birthday in 6 days! You have a whole life ahead of you to accomplish things. Certainly you are a bit unrealistic if you expect to be king of the world at age 20.
I also can relate to most of the behaviour in the responses as well. It is interesting though, the shutdown vs. hyper focus states. Are they amplification of primary functions vs. transformation to a different type (or perhaps amplification of weaker functions)?
What leaves hope for the INTP...
Sounds very compelling. But additionally, the majority of inhabitants would have to be somewhat like minded (not all INTPs though).
Closest thing for me was in my youth when I attended a non-academic type of boarding school. We were a small community of our own of maybe 60 people, isolated...
From a couple of personal experiences, I can't say they have changed my personality much permanently. Probably if too prolonged one will eventually hit a brick wall, maybe even go mad (not saying INTPs aren't a bit mad by default). If not, perhaps a little more prepared the next time, which I...
Da Blob,
I'd be particularly interested in your opinion of type falsification as described here: http://www.benziger.org/articlesIng/?p=32. Also with regards to my second question.
Extreme stress as in particular stressful, prolonged situations out of the ordinary, perhaps life changing situations, maybe even life threatening. In daily life, that is. Not talking about just a bad day at work, neither falling out of an airplane without a parachute.
Not unless the betrayer him/herself offers a sincere and well reflected apology!
But yes, it is often more an emotion than an act, a personal definition of betrayal is ultimately biased. But put in context with common social ethics, for example, a wife sleeping with his husbands best friend...
What do you think is the typical reaction to extreme stress (like when the shit hits the fan) for an INTP?
Is it likely, or even possible, for an INTP to temporarily (days - weeks) to slip into a different personality type, as a reaction to cope in stressful circumstances in daily life...
I like to stay up late too, often way too late even when I have to get up early for work. I always thought of this as a biological clock thing, but perhaps it is related to procrastination. Maybe xxxP are night creatures while xxxJ are early birds? I'm not sure of the equivalent in other...
Never tried DMT, I'd prefer Amphetamines for the one evening of extravertism experience, though it screws me up too much otherwise. I don't know, perhaps a ESTJ on DMT would feel like an INTP.
I hoard internet porn, does that count? :D
I think I have tendencies to go like: this piece of plastic may come in handy so I'll keep it, but generally I have few things around me. I don't buy stuff I don't need. And I don't like the thought of being held back by material things, just in case...
