Effects of being an INTP only child.

1.Yes, INTP only child. 2. 1 if I'm left to my own devices. 3-4 if I'm trying. 3. Almost never these days. The problem is, I rarely get past your point# 2, and then the probability I'd have enrgy to grow the relationship is quite low. I connected with all different kinds of people when I was...

Should I tell my ten year-old cousin that she's an INTP?

There is something non-kosher about TELLING someone what they are. So it's your observation...so what. Maybe you can tell her about MBTI and let her arrive at her own conclusion.

INTP trait you like the most in yourself

I believe I have the ability to quickly understand complex issues and get to the bottom of an issue. I am still working at making sure those around me achieve the same understanding.

    How do you look?

Shoulder-length brown hair. I rarely style it beyond the very basic. I do color it from time to time, but it's quite close to my natural color. I'm short and thin. I look about 10 years younger than I really am. Minimal make-up. No nail polish, but polished and buffed. No jewelry except for my...

INTP trait you like least in yourself?

For me it's lack of focus. I get very distracted throughout my day. Endless phone calls, e-mails, someone always demanding my attention. I just get side-tracked and other people's emergencies just consume my days. It's exhausting enough to TALK about their issues, and then I am asked to resolve...

    About being quiet...

To redbaron's suggestions, first of all, thanks. My actual response in that moment was "Oh, Am I, really?" Not in a defensive way, but in a genuinely surprised way. In retrospect, I wish I would have questioned as to why HE thought so, rather than point the question back to ME. But, well, the...

American culture for INTPs, should I move there?

Oh Why?? I'm not from Sweden. But I'm a foreigner to the States, so may I explain my impression relative to Europe (eastern to be 'exact'). People are much friendlier in the States. Even in large cities, but especially in small towns (middle of the country). They will smile and say hello...

How where you as a Child?

Yes, that is interesting. Are INTP's known for being able to concentrate for long periods of time if they want to? I wonder if this is a learned behaviour. I come from a family of teachers and education was very emphasized while I was growing up. Possibly gender roles matter here too. You know...

    Olympics disinterest

Right there with ya. The last Olympics that made any impression on me was Barcelona. Was there something fantastic about it? Or was I very impressianate at that time? Anyway, that was early 90's. And I'm still in my 20's...

    What's your ideal occupation?

I like this question. Where I am the expert on any given topic. Where I can openly criticize without (negative) consequences. Where I need to deal with people to a minimum, preferably in writing only. I think this might be a dream!

How where you as a Child?

I can relate to your comment in the last bullet point, but not really the others. I was very studious as a kid, and still am as an adult. One of my biggest regrets, actually, is taking school too seriously, especially in college. I could have had more fun!! In elementatry school I remember...

    Letter to a young INTP

Thanks for posting. I especially enjoyed part 2 on overload. It definitely speaks to perfectionism and how it gets in the way every time. I wish I could print it out and hand it out any time someone asks why something isn't done yet. I once heard this piece of advice on how to 'fix' this...

    Hello

That's rock bottom? Sounds like a dream to me!! That could be because this heat wave has been unbearable, I'm not sure. Anyway, welcome. I am a fellow newbie to this forum as well.

    About being quiet...

He happened to be sitting right next to me and I recall he lowered his voice somewhat, but was still loud enough for the room to hear. I'm surprised at the flirting possibility only because the setting is so wrong. Possible, but not likely. It's more likely he was commenting on my manner of...

    Strange mannerisms around complete strangers

Yes, I experience this change too and I am usually surprised at the change. I notice it when I'm explaining an issue to someone and it is very serious as far as I'm concerned. So I concentrate, and slow down my breathing and my voice somehow follows. Pretty sure I take on some sort of Radio voice !

    About being quiet...

How often do you hear these words...'You're quiet.' I must share this because I have been thinking about this on and off all day today. I am part of a team of 6 at work, and we were creating presentation slides for a much larger group. A higher level manager sat in, and half-way through the...

    How introverted are you?

Either I have grown more introverted, or I'm in an environment where most people are extroverted, and my introversion is just such a blunt contrast to the others. I haven't decided yet. My experience has been I am more interactive and participate in small groups (2-5), but anything more than...

    New girl.

Hi, I've been lurking in this community for the last couple weeks or so, and am now feeling compelled to register, introduce myself, and hopefully stop lurking and engage in some conversation. I'm not very good at introductions and usually try to get through them as quickly as possible. So, 28...
