Stupid laptop

It is mysteriously eating my hard drive away. I have a 120 gig hard drive, says I have less then 2 gigs left. and I added all my file sizes up, it adds up to 57 gigs, less then half my hard drive.

I am reformatting my hard drive in the hopes that it will solve it.

See ya all after that is done....if it goes smoothly

EDIT: my laptop doesn't read discs anymore apparently, so I can't even do a system restore

Well delete something you don't need anymore. And also, a little LiveCD is not 2Gig big...:P There are some that are a ssmall as 50 MB (of course they would need some commandline-skills )

I had 2 gigs. and I dont know whats left to delete. I already deleted 90% of my programs folder, and I HAD 2 gigs, I dont anymore

There might be a couple of problems. Usually Windows screws up the file system in such a way that the available disk space appears lesser than it is. Try Checking the Disk for errors (chkdsk).

Also try running a disk cleanup on your disk. Vista has this error reporting feature and it stores this error dump. It tends to grow huge. (It's labelled as "Per User Queued Error Reporting" in the Disk Cleanup)

I didn't come here to try and get it fixed, just complain about it. I've already gone through all the steps with my tech savy friend, and his friends and sources. I'm left with reformatting, which is fine, as soon as my laptop will let me.

I'd like to state that my computers don't develop problems, because they know I will remedy them with PERCUSSIVE FORCE! That, and the fact that I use Linux.

Also I have had MANY stupid things happen to me with my computers.

For example sometimes when I try to turn up the volume on my laptop with the volume wheel it types the letter C
