I know many of you are fond of surrealism art. I would like to share my love of surrealism art with you guys. There is one particular artist that I want to point out, Zdzislaw Beksinaki.

I have no art background and I didn't even know what is surrealism art before I came across his work by chance. I was drawing into my emotional ride as usual the day I encountered his work, and the moment I saw them, I felt calm. As haunting/nightmarish as his work are, I feel peaceful and relaxing everything I look at them.

Our world here is not better than the world that created by him. In fact, to me, that world that created by him is a real Nirvana. There is no happiness yet no pain either; no gain yet no loss kind of place. Absolutely nothing to look forward, to go for, yet it also means absolutely nothing to pull you down. It is real freedom.

The way I see it is he has a real perspective on things or people around him. I feel like the creature/building in his working is so raw that they are the real us; it is how things really are, how we really look like once the materials that chain us down and the illusion that covering our eyes are disappear.

I will embrace death more passionately if heave is what it is like in that world.

Here are a small portion of my favourite work of him:

I am interested in knowing what you think of/ how you feel about his paintings. The inspirations (if any) that he brings you. Or if there is anything that crosses your mind. Also, it would be great if some of you can tell me the real meanings behind his paintings. Were they political related? Was he simply rebelling the Art society? etc

I've been closely studying Beksinski for the last 6 years or so. He is in fact the reason I got into painting. Absolutely inspiring work. He has spoiled me such that no other artist I've come across comes even close to the resonance I feel with his paintings.
It's a damn shame that he is relatively unknown in the US. He's done hundreds of paintings. I have counted at least 500 so far. When you think you've seen them all, doing a thorough online search always seems to reveal more.

The paintings themselves are the height of optimism. In some cases takes the seemingly worst visions of decay and makes them stunningly beautiful, but through all of them there's an obsessive quality in their creation. Most of all, I'm fascinated with the sheer atmospheric quality. I've never seen anything else that comes so close to replication some purely internal delirium like dreams.

I recommend this site because it has a LOT of his work as well as older stuff you won't find anywhere else, like his photography:

Can't do justice to it all with 5, 10, or even 20 of them. Just gotta browse through yourself.

I love Beksinski, and his mastery of texture. This is not a criticism, however I feel like his work is somewhat...misogynistic? It's not hateful necessarily, but he seems to dehumanize women. I sort of feel like it's how he worshiped the female form, in an almost sadistic way. I would liken it to how Francis Bacon would flay the subjects of his portraits into hunks of recognizable flesh-almost always beloved friends-as that is how he himself found pleasure- masochism.

i like his work.
i do "meh" over some of them. the greyish simple ones don't get the attention of my MTV mind. i like a good motive, or strong colors, or both.

my favorite is this one:

never thought about it like you do in your first quoted paragraph. i just label it "dream perspective on reality". and yes, that's how things are to us. everything is alive and decaying at the same time, or being created and forgotten, there is no center in dreamland, that favors one pole, because the whole dream is the self, not the dream character.

what i like about the inserted image of the woman is how there are various centers (faces) being dragged along the dream movement simultaneously, like a parade, and they seem unreal. you can't tell who is responsible for the movement.

I have noticed this too.
It seems to be limited to "slutty" or "posh" women though.
Maybe some relationship he had and his way of getting back at it.
On the other hand it could also be a purely aesthetic statement,
questioning the dominant perception of women portrayed in the mass media, especially those glossy glamour magazines etc.
And then the body problem.

I really like his work. It's seems that they whisper to my repressed Fe. My conscious mind though wishes to explore the places and inhabitants of his world. Who are they? Are these their normal appearance? Do they have wi-fi?

I've been a fan since a friend of mine showed me his works. I like how his proportions are off and his anatomy often makes no sense whatsoever if you look at it in detail but comes together perfectly anyway.

It is strange how someone like HR Giger who is nowhere near this dudes level is a lot more well-known. Actually it is not strange at all because he designed the alien but it should be strange anyway. Imagine Beksinski doing designs for games, man that'd be nice. The people who work on visual design for games are generally such unoriginal yawn-inducing scum, they should quit their jobs.

If I ever cba to do some proper studies to improve my own drawing and painting skills I shall turn to the works of this dude.

Whatchya'll think about his type going by his works? Running the risk of being a narcissist my guess is INFJ.

I have seen some of his works in the past and I like the style, I wasn't aware of the artist. Now I can connect the name with it.
