I just took username that is synonymous with unknown, which probably describe me and INTP's in general, and Death seems to be the perfect word for it.My other nicknames are Ryuken after characters in streetfighter arcade, then changed to kuraiken (kurai=dark in jap) and my latest nickname is Velther-Ryu,this one has no meaning, like the life itself.:smiley_emoticons_mr

I'm yellow. See, I'm a total mutt, and people I know (and complete strangers) tell me I look like I belong to all kinds of ethnic groups. I get all kinds of fun guesses, most common are mediterranean and pacific islander. Anyway, my husband is not one of those people, I don't think he even thought about it. He just looks at me from time to time and goes "you're kinda yellow, maybe you should see a doctor".

Behind you.
My username comes from a song by the band Dashboard Confessional.

And I will leave under the cover
Of summer's kiss upon the sky
Like the stone face of your lover
Just before she says goodbye
I was certain that the season could be held between my arms
Well just as summer's hold is fleeting
I was here but now I'm gone...
I'm gone... I'm gone, I'm gone
I'm gone...

Re: Your user name

I created my user name partially from 'Las Venturas' and it then evolved into Venture when I found this forum, and it has stayed that way with a few other registrations.

Adair is honestly just a name I made up when I realized people irl could just google my nick and find this place. My original username was Kaedri, which my was my brother's old nickname for me. I tend to go by that nick irl.

Mine is just the result of trying to find a name that wasn't taken, a few years back. Ok, almost a decade(eep, feeling old now).
Not even a faint relation to real or nicknames. But it has grown on me a lot.

@himself--I loved Infinite Jest! Shame about David Foster Wallace, but not exactly a surprise...

Cuterebra is a genus of botfly. I considered using Cochliomyia (Cochliomyia hominovorax, the screwworm), but it just didn't have the same ring.

Parasites are neat.

Although I am no expert on Japanese, I understand "Kokoro" to mean "heart." In one expression of the word, the Samurai used it to describe the indomitable spirit of the warrior. I have that spirit so I believe the word fits well.

I almost always create a new username whenever I sign up for something online, so I kept punching in different things off of the top of my head which is when the track name Reptilian came to mind. Reptilian is a track by Nine Inch Nails. I never intended for this account to be used much, I initially signed up to view some links a few months ago but kept coming back and decided to keep what I had.

I chose 'bananaphallus' for it's homoerotic/banana undertones. I use 'wankerbrit' for a lot of things also, this name was inspired by British people's well known penchant for masturbating capriciously/ad nauseum/in public - something which makes me giggle, often.

My name is Jennifer, and I've always loved the poem Jabberwocky (among other quirky things) -- I tend to play around in my N a lot -- so it seemed to be the perfect mix.

Random pick; I had to come up with something and I saw some perfume bottle; I didn't think I am going to stay here for long, so I didn't put too much thought in my username.

You know, your nick always remind me of Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire, a collection of poems. The Law of Cosmic Irony wants that there is, of course, also a poem about cats in that collection:

Cats

Sages austere and fervent lovers both,
In their ripe season, cherish cats, the pride
Of hearths, strong, mild, and to themselves allied
In chilly stealth and sedentary sloth.

Friends both to lust and learning, they frequent
Silence, and love the horror darkness breeds.
Erebus would have chosen them for steeds
To hearses, could their pride to it have bent.

Dreaming, the noble postures they assume
Of sphinxes stretching out into the gloom
That seems to swoon into an endless trance.

Their fertile flanks are full of sparks that tingle,
And particles of gold, like grains of shingle,
Vaguely be-star their pupils as they glance.

Tunesimah, is a change from tunesmath... which seemed all too obvious.

I don't know if people pronounce it the way I do in my head. And that's quite all right with me.

With friends we all have nicknames mine is Pugly, and elsewheres on the internet I have gone as Pugly. I've started to dislike that nickname, since it's sort of an insult... plus I don't want anything to do with pug dogs.

Originally I was going to be Phoenix, but I decided that it was too obviously metaphorical for death and rebirth, and that doesn't represent me at all.

But I'm attracted to mythological creatures. Dragons were my favorite for the longest time, but "Dragon" felt far too...simple? Unimaginative? Something like that.

Anyway. Chimera came about because the personal visual representation I have of myself is a small creature (or monster, depending on my mood) with mixed attributes of different animals. The attributes are constantly changing; generally I picture a feline body type with four ears, two-colored eyes, and some sort of wings or fins. I figured that it accurately portrayed the chaotic flow of my thoughts and mood.

Another thing is, the name Chimera can be shortened to Chime. So on the one hand, you have the name of a beast (material, instinctive), and on the other you have a sound (free, light).

I was reading a magazine on Japanese culture a day or two prior to my registration on the forum. One article explored the concepts of "Furyu" and "Fukyo" in Basho's poetry. So yeah, I liked them, and choose one as a username when I registered. Either way, the one I chose is know as aesthetic madness or poetic dementia.

  • "Poetic dementia". Basho, and others that followed him, liked to delight in being mad poets. This eccentricity allowed a twisted view of the world in haiku, which was also consistent with the haikai spirit of being less formal and more playful.
  • [poetic madness] A willful, if not mannered, demeanor adopted by Basho in his early years imagined to betray a transport of 'poetic dementia'.

I picked "elder" for its mythological/fantastic qualities, and also because I used to be in a doom metal band called Elder Serpent. I picked "toadstool" due to its association with the Amanita muscaria, which is the classic red-with-white-spots fairytale mushroom. I wanted something psychedelic, but also a little bit subtle than say, AcidMaster5000.

We are all agents of Chaos and Order, most people just don't realize that fact.
The two interrelated concepts of chaos and order describe the complex nature of our physical universe.

Notice how the avatar and the usertitle are usually connected[maybe] by definition. In this case, the word "amalgamation" is linked[maybe] by "Toothless and Hiccup's relationship"[How to train your dragon]. I do place emphasis on medium of interaction. It is important to have understanding outside of your own analysis. I could've gone with "Letters, Symbol, Word, Code etc etc." I also find it aesthetically appealing with its simplicity and accurate portrayal of what one can expect from me. So, in a manner of both aesthetics and utility, I have developed precise judgement.
