Not true. Once you have a minimal level of money needed for survival, such as for paying rent, buying food, etc., further money makes very little difference. Scientific studies have shown this.

No, further research has shown that money makes for greater happiness up to the point where you are just ahead of your peer group. For example, if the people you generally hang out with are all millionaires (you live on one of the US Coasts), you won't be fully happy until you are a 1.1 millionaire. Say you live in a poorer area of the US and the people around you have $50k, you'd be generally happy with around $100k, but $150k wouldn't make you substantially happier.

Enough is enough.

enough not to look at the price tag when you want to buy something,
enough not to worry about bills,
enough to eat what you want, when you want,
enough to go where you want.
enough that you don't worry.

Other than that, it's just icing.

oh, and not enough to make the Tax-collector scary.

I aspire to make $75,000+ per year... I am single right now, so does that make me "wealthy"... or just "greedy"... j/k

I hope to ultimately end up pulling in over $100,000 a year and have my own business... Whatever a future partner would add would be icing on the cake.

I would like to be a rich person in the '20s, but nowadays it would just be boring.

i put money in my own projects, inventions etc
much went down the drain in failed projects also
but i'd still rather spend it on a lost project than on a useless sports car or 6-story yacht.

to live without too much contraint i guess you should be able to spend around 10k-20k (EUR or USD) per month. if you dont do crazy stuff (and dont have a too expensive wife ;)), then you can support your family with that. or you could have an OK single lifestyle from that if there is no family. you dont need more than that, there is no more freedom beyond that. the freedom is to have free hours to do what you like (and free food, an OK house and OK clothes). all else is just a consumption contest, a show off against others.

its not so hard to get lots of money, the biggest idiots manage to do it, its just hard to get it in the right way.

this sometimes really bothers me, i want to earn aweful lots of money to do big things, but i dont want to get free money i dont deserve since it means i would ride other peoples back. but i think i'm the only one that even considers that...

its only fair to consume huge amounts of value if you also produce huge amounts of value. so you should produce something extraordinarily helpful to society (which might be serious stuff or might just be as simple as a really cool song, that is still great pleasure for people thus useful production)

thats the only way it fits for me, its my principle i live by
