Umm, I call it "the broad field" - kind of a basic image, there's a hill with a single tree on which my name is carved, overlooking a field which is like the sea in terms of its breadth. I sometimes imagine it as a source of dreams, it's a field in the sense that it's appearance is broad and plain, but there's enough space for anything to be imagined there.

It developed from fantasies when I was younger. Broad wood, clearing, field is the apparant definition of my first name: Bradley. :p

Interesting, I don't normally visualize my mind in any metaphorical sense. I do like to think about the neural networks and pathways that fire off at synapses when I think though. One time when I was very sleep deprived and had a huge headache, whenever I thought hard about a specific topic like a science or art I could locate where in my brain I was thinking about it because of the pain it caused. It was really cool.

My mind is an obsidian city, like tron but everything looks like black glass, the lighting is minimal giving it a gloomy yet impeccable appearance (there's no rubbish, no dirt, no dust) and instead of walking through doors the inhabitants pass through the surfaces, as if the walls were simply the boundary between light and shadow. The inhabitants themselves are mostly mechanical things, clockwork in particular, you have to see them in motion to understand why they're beautiful; humans dancing to a waltz are a poor imitation of mechanical grace.

A house? Only there is no outside to this house, just an infinite labyrinth of rooms which whole-heartedly fail to comply with the classical laws of space and gravity. A bit like Escher's 'Relativity'.

Very interesting topic.

mine changes, in relation to actualy thinking it is a massive open black space and each idea is a different coloured shape/cloud, the intensity and transparency of the colour and the size and form of the shape have to do with what the idea is about, how deep my understanding is, how complex it is, when ideas are triggered from one another its like the clouds overlap and inflate and deflate depending on how much of my attention i am focusing on them

in relation to memories and opinions or feelings its kind of like a big city, like limbo in Inception, except all of the buildings are made of glass, and once a memory is made the image of the place or thing is scratched into it and it becomes opaque and solid, for example, when i think of my best friend there is a park right in the middle of the city and her house is there, and all of the things i associate with her are in or near the house
there's hardly anyone in the city except in their own places within the city like my friend in her house

It varies from time to time. I see it as a planetary sphere with beams of electricity coming off, that connect to smaller spheres that represent a thought or idea. Those then branch off with their own beams of electricity to smaller spheres that are sub-thoughts, bred by the original thought.

1. A pool hall and I'm playing a game
2. Get-away scene in a movie and I'm the driver
3. Concentration on one single thought (solving a complex problem), I usually break the problem into pieces. When fixing my car for example, if I need to plan ahead for what I need I can see the pieces in my head. Then I figure out what kind of tools I need to interact with them. If it's math, and it's a problem I'm not recognizing I try and see past examples I may be able to apply.

Sometimes the only visual representation of my mind is one I can translate into the world outside of my head, Te. I start talking before I even know what I'm saying, or I draw. I consider myself INTX because I seem to be of both realms.

it's 4+ dimensions.
Kinda fun stuff.

Like a complex vector-space, with fluxes, waves, motion.
infinitesimal areas with near-infinite magnitudes, kinda like scalar fields or something.

Mine is like a multi-verse, with landscapes that depict mental representations of reality. I'm usually armed with a big broadsword, stabbing the monsters that make up falsehood. Like a video game, but much more fun, and useful.

It used to be A LOT more complex, but I was 'forced' to make a division between what is my mind and what is my subjective universe.

As problematic as it may become, yet some don't take the steps needed for this transmutation.

Could the act of abandoning some part of one's mind make certain individuals feel less intelligent/good about them self?

I don't get it. Do explain.

Most of the replies to this thread described a complex mind (at least compared to mine). Most of these complex minds were said to contain a significant amount of information (once again in comparison to my mind).

I assume the said information to consist of data gathered by observing one's surroundings, i.e. something distinct from the subject. I also assume the data to be gathered mostly through assumptions and/or experimental study or the combination of these two.

Even though the mind can observe this information, it doesn't actually become part of the mind. Principles that govern the universe (IMO) are best to left unattached to one's identity.

It's alright to discuss and debate over any subject, to have a battle of wits. But it's absolutely essential to personally understand and know one's self.

Of course some may think it isn't. And this definitely is a personal thing so I don't want this to come of as degrading or as anything really, just words.

I think it could but it also depends on that individual still i may think that in most cases it would not but i am not saying it could not. So yes but still not really in more cases.

I have always imagined it to look something like a dimly lit, cylindrical room. At the edges, there is a pit on all sides leading to oblivion. In the middle, I am standing on what appears to be a glowing mage-circle (reference anime) with my soul just sort of floating above me (it is imagined as a sphere of glowing blue spiraling around itself). I view myself in a 3rd person view so I am actually looking at myself standing in the middle of the room. I assume this to be my attempt at adding objectivity to my thought processes.

A ceiling is also never imagined.

Ironically, this is also a piece out of my subjective imaginative universe. I am not entirely sure what my 'room' acts as a metaphor for, but I am sure there is some underlying meaning my subconscious created.

Abraxas: I guess I assume "visual representation of your mind" implies that your identity will be involved. If the OP had said "of a mind" then I could see why a more objective position might be more valuable. "Your" implies it will be a variation of "a mind" in general - what makes your mind different from others - I guess that's why I personally chose imagery I think a sense of my identity can be unpacked from. (:

This wasn't a case of misunderstanding the OP. It's just that my identity is quite insipid.

A spire that seems to have no base, rather it's base sort of merges with the ground in which it is supposed to be embedded, like a shadow. It is everywhere and nowhere, it is like the moon when you travel in a vehicle, seemingly moving with you, it does not need to change it's location, you are the one that changes location relative to it. It is dark and gothicly spiky, though futuristic in it's texture (black glass/carbon fiber?). It is tall enough for me to see everything, and low enough to hear everything. Inside of it I am protected, invisible, unreachable, only if i desire to be reached... When I do decide to socialize, I can swoop down freely from it's highest peak and amaze everyone with my knowing of the situation and sheer presence alone. I had not been there to see/hear what the people have been doing, yet i know all, and that amazes them... When in reality I am just very observant and listen well.

Interesting topic. (even got me out of the lurking zone)

My frame of reference is a vast collection of shelves, almost like a library but without the books, it's just organized like one. Collections of shelves are themed yet there's no clear legend. There's also a lot of empty shelves, things I don't know or I'm working on. Sometimes the context of the shelves needs to change, or stuff on it to be rearranged, because I've been looking at it all wrong. And because of that it's always changing, growing even. (kind of reminds me of Rose Red from Stephen King, but less creepy)

Whenever I'm analyzing something I'm trying to find it's place among other things, where does it fit (in the bigger picture)? When I think about stuff it feels as if I'm working on my own truth, discovering new things to add up to that untill, ultimately, I know everything. I won't, but that doesn't bother me. The fun is in the process.

Thoughts (or theories) have a high plasticity and feel a bit like play dough; I'm molding them into shape. Most of the time they are three dimensional movements or correlations, sometimes they have color. They can feel like thick syrup or cracked paper.
Example: why we can't travel at the speed of light feels like a fluently rolling wave into infinity, becoming smaller and smaller.

My mind is a vast open space, with a sphere at the center, that I cant seem to get into. I believe that the open space is my conscious mind and the sphere is my subconscious as I cant actually obtain access to it, no matter how hard I try

An ever-changing blueprint that's more like carbon fiber grey and black with 3 dimensional moving patterns and outlines of vaguely created thought processes, ideas, strategies and beliefs. Sometimes they're in color... like the Alphabet... since I was young, the alphabet has always been a colorful stream of letters (within the blueprint, I imagine) and when I think about the letters I always think of their relationship to each other in the alphabet. I think of numbers more in black and white, which I think is sort of interesting since numbers ARE very black and white; they do not change regardless of their use or language).

There is also a screening room that plays out previous and future reels of snippets of my life. These too, are in color.

A hall....heart cypress floors, worn to a lovely patina....with 1000 doors of gloss black surrounded by gloss white trim on each side.... each opening to a room that opens to another hall.... and just inside each door, you guessed it ...another hall, heart cypress floors et al... with another 1000 doors each leading to room leading to another hall, another 1000 doors and rooms ..and so forth...oh and the doors have transom lights over them as well....tilted out rather than in...

I have spent the better part of 49 years exploring these halls and rooms, opening doors to see what lay behind them and storing neatly thoughts, facts, images, sensations in every nook and cranny ....and I must confess, there is some weird shit in those rooms and halls......... but it seems like home to me.

A bright white area with no foundation. Translucent pink ribbons of information converge in the center, forming a membrane.

Depending on mood, the light changes, and the default colour of the ribbons change. It also gets misty.

An empty landscape with ground made of this, but more jagged/rugged (but still polished). I can see the curvature of the earth. There are no hills. The sky is a dusty grey-blue, and there are some darker, hazy clouds.

mine's usually more like the bridge room in a giant starship with multiple versions of me representing different aspects of my mind. ie: there's one sitting in the corner reading, another watching all his surroundings analising everything, one in the middle surrounded by computer moniters and buttons taking in all their arguments/comments finding the best probable solution, etc.

Aaaah... finally a proper question. When you are in a meditative state, in alpha more exactly, it's recomended you hava a place of your own, a place where your consciouns minde meet you subconsciouns mind, a common territory, so you can be able to manipulate that conexion more efficiently and the creator of that space MUST to be you. My ,"mind palace" it's a big antique roman villa that's completly made out of white marble. And in that villa i have many doors wich i associeted whith a thing. So, if I want to develop myself i eneter throw a door above it's sais ,,Design". I will not enter in detail but it's very useful to have a clear representation of your mind and you to be the master of it. It is also a memory tehnique. I find this concept "mind palace" or "mind represenation " very very intresting. Cheers

Usually I picture my mind like Aperture Science (yeah THAT big, and hence my location on my user profile). For example, I picture the part of my mind that holds memories like a giant test chamber. After solving the test chamber you find memories.

My mind is like a regular cube room with all-white walls half the time. The other half is just a solid black darkness going on forever like a void. Whenever I imagine a place, it's always at this little clearing inside a jungle. There's a waterfall a few yards from my little "hut" and an apple tree so that I can always have apples to eat (my favorite snack). Inside my hut I have notepaper, pens, and plenty of marijuana:). In that little dream world for some odd reason I'm always wearing a Chinese worker's hat. Now that I think about it I might buy one.
