There's science though. We know what the effects are; it's the justifications for giving them to people that can be a little sketch.

But there are some psychiatrists that do take brain scans and try to use drugs to normalize certain areas of the brain. That's a bit more respectable at least. But if you don't got the money, behavior can still be a good shortcut, as long as the self-reporting is reliable.

In my experience, they would not accept self reporting. What they did was wait until they saw an episode and could properly judge the change in behaviour, attitude and could see it for themselves. Try to remember, what I refer to as "professionals" have studied this area for 12 years and spent a further 20 working in the field. They are far experienced and knowledgeable in the field than any of us.

Random thought: Tonight was the first night I thought, "Hey, I should go to church for Christmas Eve just so I have an excuse to wear my red dress before the holidays end."

Soooo laaaaaame.

I only wore it once so far, to my workplace Christmas luncheon, and my friend told me along with the dark lipstick and black hose and shades I looked like a rock star.

.... of course, I'm just too darn lazy and would rather sit here writing and watching non-traditional Christmas movies like Brazil or Diehard than go to church. Oh well.

helped my father to put some stuff on his tree. feels like it might have been the last christmas with my mom. mom had an aware and emotional moment. mostly she is just hanging in there, not realizing what happens, but when she gets emotional, she is surely aware somehow. perhaps she recognized me. don't become like mom: animal products = prion disease + arterioscleroses of the brain. tomorrow my sister and her kids will be in the house and i will probably hide, feeling stressed because of all the voices in the house.

Watched one grandmother succumb to Alzheimer's and the other to Parkinson's. In both cases, recognition would come in fits and starts to the end.
