What is it? Can you give examples? What does your voice sound like?
I've noticed that personally, my voice really changes depending on the situation. Usually I have a bit of a crackling "uhhh", bored voice, but when really getting into a conversation or having some sort of extroverted outburst my voice gets way more 'dominant' all of a sudden, with occasional high peaks out of enthusiasm or anger.

When reading this kind of threads on the forum, I start to suspect that an evil transdimensional god like scientist has cloned a huge bunch of us INTPs and just for the heck of it threw us into a world dominated by extroverts. Our destiny must be to unite with each other and take over this world using our sharp wits and the incredible ability to make something enjoyable into something boring.

You can consciously change your voice, no?

Yes, that's true. I can impersonate a lot of accents and voices, but there's always a voice that comes natural to you, right?

You are referring to our audible external voice and not our internal mental voice yes?

The sound of my voice changes with my mood. Generally it is relatively deep for a female and rather monotone. However, it's almost always exacting and I enunciate better than most people I know. When excited it goes up a little in pitch but not by a lot. My friends say I sound like a bored professor.
:slashnew:

Edit: When angry my voice sounds more commanding.

LOL! Love Abraxas' humor!

You make it sound as if INTPs are a specific species within the population.

"Ma'am, I have unfortunate news for you."
"What it's a girl? No way OMG! I cannot tolerate this! Abortion! "
"Its worse, it's a motherfucking INTP."

In my head I am just demeaning.
I am mostly polite but often I fail to greet people. I just go "yes?".

If we were the only "species" here, it would look something like this.

My voice, too, depends on the situation. If I'm talking to my parents its a bit squeaky. With my friends its deep and loud only if I'm really excited about the topic or if we're cracking jokes by the second, otherwise I'm usually quiet or reply with just 'yes' or 'no' With girls I try my sexy, calm voice.lol. But it turns out confused and hurried.

Ahah, yes, the 'with girls' voice.
Usually my voice has a low, reassuring, calm and somewhat unrealistically optimistic tone, when 'with girls'.

You'd think you were speaking to a well, lol.

My best voice is when I'm energized and directive, argumentative.

Which is why I'm not too successful in actual romantic relationships but am left with a lot of friendships haha.

I'm not sure, but it's rather chilly.
I'm rather sparing with my voice. If someone called to me, I'd raise my eyebrow as a way of saying "Yes?", or I'd look in their direction and blink. Expressions are so much more convenient that having to go to the trouble of actually opening your mouth.

When I do speak, I tend to drone a bit. People who don't know me assume I'm either angry, depressed, or annoyed. (In reality, it's usually the latter.)
Also, I'm told I sound slightly British. I live in the US. :slashnew:

I've been told my voice is sexy over the phone. I'm not sure what to do with that...

Maybe I should get a job involving phones and sex...

Anyways, yeah, my voice changes a lot depending on my mood and who I'm talking to. I have this tendency to imitate whoever I'm talking to especially when I have troubles relating to them in other ways.

You should all post your voices. :D

My voice is higher than I should like. It stays fairly even, though, so I won't complain.
Even if it tends to be a little monotone when I'm caught off-guard.
And also pick up awkward accents.

Hahaha you took the words out of my keyboard. I've been saying I need to get a job at a phone sex hotline for years. Ive litterally had a couple phone "relationships" with women I didnt know, but loved talking to me cuz they envisioned some stud.....when the reality was Im some chubby frumpy lazy dude that doesnt do shit all day.Its not like I had good game to go with it or anything...

And the second thing you said. I relate with that totally. I feel like I adapt to people's communication styles.

My voice is usually somewhere in the middle(bored, detatched). But I find it very easy to bust out deep opera voices as well as high pitched female voices. I've been told I have a flexible voice for impressions and things like that.Dunno,I recently thought that maybe I could have been a ok singer if I would have taken lessons or something. But of coarse knowing would be satisfying enough.

Ah yeah, I recognize that. Impressions are so fun to do. I still don't get how other people just can't do that.

Awesome, you should all do this. It would be interesting.

My voice is that objective Truth voice that does not let me believe some of the things I like to think. When I am lying, it tells me so. When I try to delude myself, it tells me so. It is very loud and very clear and makes my head resonate.

I don't always listen to it.

My voice is slightly more monotone than the average female's. According to my friend (who is reading this) it's extremely calm, like I don't care what people will say to me. I also have an Australian accent.

On second note, why are we posting what our voice sounds like?

My mental voice is practically indescribable. It can be deep or high, frantic or calm... It depends on what I'm thinking, I suppose.

Speaking about mental voices, or the ones inside our heads, is it normal that I have a female voice in my head? Even though I am male.

It doesn't sound very disturbing to me. I don't have a female voice in my head, but I have no idea why it would be worrying, unless you secretly want to be a woman or something. In that case it's time to undergo a sex change possibly, haha.

But uh, my mental voice... is... Like my normal voice, but a little more active and smooth, less... growly. It doesn't have that slight 'growling' sound when I talk on a normal, relaxed level. You know, that sound that's most noticeable when saying 'uuuuh'. I don't know why my mental voice doesn't have that as it isn't something I don't enjoy in my own voice, in fact, I find it to sound fun.

That`s a relief then. I am a straight male and do not have a hidden desire to become a woman. And I do imagine that mental voice usually sounds clearer and more confident. Because as for myself, my live voice usually is cranky and uneven. That`s probably because I do talk more inside my head then I do to others.
