Do you think an INTP supervisor professor would be good for an INTP student? What is your experience from having INTP teacher/professor?

Personally i cant say. I dont believe any of my teachers fit the bill. However if they did i believe it would make for an interesting classroom. Why? Are you the student or professor? Or is this hypothetical?

If you are one you should record the sessions, i reckon it could/ would be interesting if you could capture the working of an intp on tape.

They'd go off on too many tangents. It would be interesting stuff, but not the stuff you were looking for.

No. I think INTP students need some xxxJ's to help them reign in their wandering Ne's.

I can't tell if I've had an INTP professor or not (I think not), but I believe I had an INTP supervisor once. We got along well for the most part. I think we each appreciated how quickly we caught on to changes in the technology we were using to keep the place running, and how we could experiment with brand new ways to keep the place running. Neither of us were resistant to change, but liked to explore new options as often as possible. We left each other alone to introvert for several chunks of time at a stretch. We did need some J's to reign us in though. LOL

There's no reason why a self-aware INTP could not be a supervisor or professor. It is a matter of knowing your strengths, tendencies and weak spots, and being willing to use the strength, find ways to shore up the weak spots, and use the tendencies - eg, if you need time alone to get through the day, schedule it in, don't wait for serendipity.

I'm the student and... Some weeks ago I had to choose between 3 professors as my supervisor, i think they are INTP ENTJ and INTJ
I chose the INTP by his field of work. We understand eachother's word very good . but i'm not sure he is good when it comes to supervision... :D

I had an INTP engineering teacher, my favorite teacher at the school. he was the kind of person who you wouldn't mind talking to. he was also probably a genius.

Yes, I think so. Both teacher and student would think similarly, so it would be much easier to communicate thoughts.

What are you getting your PhD in?

I've been a supervisor/boss a couple times before, and I self-identify as INTP. I generally didn't really care what my "underlings" said or did so long as they figured out what worked for them and got the job done to the group's satisfaction. If they didn't, I'd typically just... ask... "guiding..." questions in a (hopefully) non-intrusive manner... :p

I guess the title that would be most similar to my PhD is Systems Engineering. My PhD primarily involved statistical modelling, control systems, machine learning and plenty of coding.

Very similar to the supervisor I mentioned.
