I'm only half kidding here, my parents never held the belief that just because I was a child I was incapable of knowing better, when I was doing something wrong they would stop me and tell me in a firm tone, in stark contrast to the neighbours who had to tie shut every reachable cabinet and remove anything/everything breakable form their house.

The reason I bring this up is because I have no sympathy for people with bratty/screamy kids, because the age old say "you were like that once" means nothing to me.

The first (and only) time I made a fuss in a shopping centre my Dad (he acts like a mother and she acts like a father, it's weird) took me home, sent me to my room for a couple of hours to calm down, then came in and asked me what it was that I wanted so bad, and to this day I remember it vividly, I had completely forgotten.

I was merely asking for clarification. I am most assuredly not having children either.

Study up on significant changes to your outlook. Parenthood releases hormones or something in a great many mothers and fathers that can create confusion, especially for us, since they deal with emotions. Specifically, you may experience a shift to something new, "Protect and Nurture," as your default condition for a few years, especially while the kid is helpless. It dwindles as time passes but never completely goes away. It appears to be a gene-inflicted shift in outlook triggered by the smell of dirty diapers or something. In any event just be prepared for it, because if it happens you really can't do anything except go with it. (Not everyone experiences it. But being INTP doesn't mean you're immune. It just means you might have to have more emotions to deal with than you'd like.)

If you're happy about being a parent, congratulations. You will get to find out a lot about yourself as a result of the experience and probably most of it will be good.
