Hey Catz, are you Catholic by chance? You sound a lot like me when I was 12. I used to be Catholic and believed that sex was a sin. But then I realized, if sex is a sin, then God created us to sin as a necessary part of our reproduction process. That didn't make sense to me, because whatever preachers tell you about fire and brimstone, I don't think God would be that mean, "God is love" after all.

There is being a sexually active, responsible adult, and then there's being promiscuous or too young and naieve to be physically involved with someone of the opposite sex. I can't find anything wrong with the former scenario, the last two scenarios are people being irresponsible. People can be irresponsible with just about anything, money, food, prescription drugs, alcohol, their own opinions, etc. and sex can certainly be misused as well. This is more a matter of people doing stupid things than sex being evil.

Some people use the argument that sex is only sin outside of marriage. But what about before marriage existed? There is no evidence for any ritual similar to "marriage" in the prehistoric caves where early humans painted animals on the walls. In fact, the earliest recorded account of marriage was only 5,000 years ago. Human beings have existed for 200,000 years. Does this mean that God gave man no way to live in purity except going extinct? I don't think so. I think marriage is a human creation, just like circumcision and funerals.

So then, there really is nothing wrong with sex, just as there is nothing wrong with eating or thinking or anything else human beings do out of necessity of survival and growth. Living a life of abstinence is a great way to find inner peace for some people. I actually considered becoming a nun for a while, but thought that I could help more people outside a convent. If you desire a life lived in chastity, then more power to you, that is a noble choice. But for those of us that have not chosen that path, let us be. Our children will be the future of the human race.

Jesus never said sex was evil. He said we shouldn't judge one another, and that we should love each other no matter how different we are. He spoke about harlots I believe, and that being with a harlot was dangerous. That makes sense, disease was especially serious back when there were no antibiotics.

Unwanted pregnancy is why there is birth control, the pills work great and very rarely have side effects. There's always getting yourself fixed as well, if you decide you never want children. It really doesn't matter if you're legally married or not, if a guy doesn't want to be a daddy, he'll take off. So that really doesn't make much difference. As long as it's consensual and done responsibly (i.e. using birth control when children aren't desired, not having too many partners at once, etc.) I have never known a woman who regretted having a physical relationship with someone she cared about. Most people that get pregnant on accident are either teenagers not practicing safe sex, or people too poor to afford birth control. For these people, it would be preferable if there were more funding for planned parenthood facilities to offer free birth control. Society is irresponsible about this and it's unfortunate.

I am not abdicating promiscuity, but I see nothing wrong with an adult having a physical relationship with someone they care about.

As with everything else, it's not sex doing the rights and wrongs. It's the people. If both you and your partner are mature and have a compatible vision on sex, do it safely and make sure not to hurt eachothers minds and bodies, it can be a wonderful thing.

That article is way too subjective to be applied to the human race as a whole, or to sex in general. No one is going to disagree that sex has its dark side, but so do many other things, as Phoenix mentioned. Should marriage be declared bad, because of domestic violence? Should parenthood, because of abuse? Not one of the 'evils' you have listed apply to safe, informed, consensual sex, it cannot just be arbitrarily declared evil because it can be perverted, or because of personal opinion.

I'm trying really hard not to drag your personal beliefs into this.
Suicide is a choice, who are you to tell others what is right and what is wrong? It's their life. What if you suicide to save a life? Or ten lives? If hitler killed himself before he decided to murder a few million people, wouldn't the world have been a better place? Anyways, suicide being a sin is not the point here.

Premarital sex. Now that's an interesting one. I'll just marry the girls I wanna sleep with, then? (Vegas style!) Or would that still be a sin? I'm married tho, even if only for a few weeks / months. What makes you think your arguments in favour / against sex only apply to premarital sex? Why is sex after mariage any diffrent?

In my personal opinion, I want to marry a person I've never slept with. Sex is giving yourself to the other person. It's something intimate. It doesn't have to be all special, but you never truly know what to expect. It can be awkward at first, but sometimes it simply feels right. And when it does feel right, it's an amazing experience and a strong bond.

No, I don't agree with her ideas, yet she doesn't agree with mine either. That's normal, and I don't mind that. Now usually people will find arguments I'll consider... So far I've not felt any need to even only consider her options, but that doesn't mean I should attack her person, rather than 'her' ideas. Let us not forget that there are religious INTPs aswell.

After all, attacking someones person rather than their ideas is no more than a logical fallacy, thus both offtopic and uninteresting. You could for example, easily replace the noun "sex" with "accident" and your statements would still be true, albeit for different reasons. Whether or not I agree with you does not matter to me. Ideas and thoughts are valuable and worth considering, whether I like them or not. What makes your stance irrational and, no offence, boring and stubborn rather than interesting discussion, is the fact that you fail to provide (to any of us valid) logical arguments.

There have been a dozen of posts showing you that none of your arguments as to why sex is bad are actually valid, and you simply chose to ignore them. As of yet, you've not given us a single 'strong' logical argument as to why sex is bad.

When people have an opinion, without actually having arguments in favour / against (or rather, stick to their opinion after you've carefully killed their arguments), then they believe what they wish to believe 'just cause'. To me, this is both boring and naive; a sign of someone who does not yet want to see the truth.
