How old are you?
16

What is your first name?
Sarah (Ermine, if you're reading this, you are awesome!)

Are you always called by this name?
It's not exactly a name you can shorten down

Do you think your name has a stereotype* attached to it?
Not really, just that it's really common here. Though there was that Simpson's episode where Bart talked about "Sarah, plain and tall"

Please list some adjectives and/or stereotypes* to describe yourself.
Tall, blonde, often told I look Northern-European because I'm part dutch (someone asked me if I was the exchange student once :D) Stereotypically speaking, I probably look pretty average, and I'm really quiet in class.

On a side note, Sarah means princess and has it's origins in Aramaic (the language spoken by hebrews in Jesus' time) name, Sarai. My last name, means son of rock, which makes me the princess of rock, and that's just awesome.

Also, I agree with Aahzombies' stereotyped names, I didn't really think about those.

Yes

As I'm not from an english speaking country, I'm not familiar with stereotypical english nicknames
Do you think your name has a stereotype* attached to it?
Since when is mad stereotypical? And also Raima has lost its original meaning.
If so, what stereotype(s)*?

Please list some adjectives and/or stereotypes* to describe yourself.
Unpredictable, hard to understand, usually opposing the norm, linguistic

What is your first name?
Johannes (German)

Are you always called by this name, or do you choose to be called by a nickname, middle name, etc.?
My sister had several names for me the most recent simply Jo, but usually everyone else just calls me Johannes. Only in primary school I was sometimes just called G by the first letter of my last name, because there was another Johannes in my class

Do you think some names are more stereotypical* than others?
Yes, but I think those names aren't used often any more.

If so, what are some names and their associated stereotypes*?
names such as (sorry only german) heinz, hugo, hans... are associated with simple rather stupid people. some female names (Swetlana, Tanja, Vanessa) are often associated with whores/sluts.

Do you think your name has a stereotype* attached to it?
No, Johannes is a quite common name.

If so, what stereotype(s)*?

Please list some adjectives and/or stereotypes* to describe yourself.
tall, glasses, "nerdy", theretical, outsider/loner, lazy, creative, unsociable,

I think we should have a temporary names while we are kids and then at certain age like a rite of passage we should get to choose our own names. That would be awesome.
I agree. One of the better experiences of my life was the moment I chose my name and wish more people could change theirs without hassle. But my own experience was more or less a total rebirth that is impossible to really communicate.

I picked my name on my last birthday. I was depressed and spent the entire day searching for a reason to go on. My mom came to see how I was doing, and she looked around my room and asked if anything was "me". All my interests and hobbies seemed to be just me following what other people in my life were doing; mainly because I generally couldn't be myself. Nor could I ever decorate with colors I liked. Then I remembered my classical guitar on the wall, and that it was the only thing I had ever named. I had named it "______" because I always loved the sound of the name, and the guitar itself is soft, quiet, and beautiful. I realized that I hadn't even chosen my own name, and instead had taken up my androgynous middle name. So I took my favorite name for myself. Turning in the official name change forms today.

Age: 22

First name: Camilla

I'm always called Camilla by people outside of my family, alternatively Miss [Insert Surname].

I don't think some names are more stereotypical than others. Though of course there's a higher chance that a Swede with a Swedish name will behave like a stereotypical Swede since it is more likely that they are brought up in a Swedish setting than for example an Antoine.

Don't know. I don't think so.

Some adjectives and stereotypes to describe myself: stubborn, lazy, quick learner, avid discusser, musical and self sufficient.

What is your first name?
Natasha

Are you always called by this name, or do you choose to be called by a nickname, middle name, etc.?
Nope, I just stick with Natasha, 'cos you can only really shorten it to Tash, Tasha or Nat.
Do you think some names are more stereotypical* than others?
Yes, like how you hear a name and you think, "oh, that name's so (insert stereotype) I know I've thought that on occasion.

If so, what are some names and their associated stereotypes*?
*is too lazy to come up with any*

Do you think your name has a stereotype* attached to it?
erm, not really. It's not exactly the worlds most common name, and I haven't heard any stereotypes for it. It does mean 'christmas born' which is kinda ironic, since I was born in may.

Please list some adjectives and/or stereotypes* to describe yourself.
INTP, brown hair, blue/green/grey eyes (depending on the light and what I'm wearing) sarcastic, avid reader, gets annoyed by people a lot, etc.

The only solution would be a creation one common language for everybody.

It's called Esperanto =P

...woah. The similarities are scary. I'm also tall, blonde, and quiet. I'm not quite feeling the princess part of my name yet, unless accidentally intimidating people just by being who I am counts.

The inner reaches of my mind
1- 16

2- Emily

3- I'm known as Emily to most, but go by my middle name, Krista, in certain circles.

4- I think that yes, some names are more stereotypical than others

5- I think examples are linked to popular culture, primarily female celebrities' names (eg. Brittany, Jessica) and others are about 'old' names, or names that have changed meanings (Leslie used to be a common boy's name)

6- I don't think that my name has any heavy attached stereotypes. It's a very common name, but I don't think it has any inherent connotations.

7- N/A

8- To describe myself, I would use the words intense, creative, and goal-driven.

Comments- It sounds like a very interesting project, I wish you luck.
