I've noticed certain tendencies in (I?)NTs' opinions regarding nail polish and hereby seek to verify them. The poll actually asks two questions, since I didn't want to make two threads for this.

Edit: It seems to cut off the last part; the second question is "Is it significantly different for black nail polish?"
I guess I could also have done a multiple selection poll, which would have reduced the number of options to four, but I didn't think of that until the very moment I clicked "submit" or whatever that button said.

I love nail polish, I've been wearing it on a regular basis for many years. I prefer dark shares better, so you could say I am partial to black nail polish.

I consider that possible, but irrelevant.
and not using English as well as you should.
I've had no sleep for about 24 hours and am not a native speaker; I hope that's enough of an excuse for any linguistic deficiencies.

Nail polish preserves the nails and make them stronger imo. But there has been some dubious ingredients used, like formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate. Those have been linked to spontaneous abortions and testicular problems. If that is an issue one may want to look at the components before one pretty up the nails.

I have belief in the idea itself to preserve body tissue from unnecessary wear. On the aesthetics maybe not black, but dark lilacs are nice.

I think nail polish looks nice depending
upon the nail. I hate when people that
bite their nails paint them. I know that's
really ridiculous and quite rude of me,
but there is something about it that
just makes me cringe. I just sit there and
imagine them chewing their stubby little
polish coated nails and the polish flaking
off into their mouths and slipping into the
back of the throat and lodging nice and
securely for a little while before transitioning
more deeply into the body.

I hate it.

I always gussy up my dead humps with a full manicure and pedicure before I begin. I prefer sparkly colors, but if I'm in a hurry any color will do.

I also apply lipstick .......

and braid their hair ........

and do a bikini wax.

I love nail polish too.
And sometimes I wear black.

There are colors I don't typically wear (more festive teals and coral and things like that)... but I just consider it one more way to be self-expressive that I am letting myself explore nowadays. I also kind of like being an engima -- putting out social cues of many different "types" of personalities but then surprising people by never quite fitting in the box they expect. It doesn't just please me, I feel it also gives me a strategic advantage.

I like nail polish but I seldom wear them
and I have the tendency to choose dark colors especially black for almost everything such as clothes, curtains, bed sheet, playstation
and... nail polish ;)

You read that as not nice?
Hmm.... That's interesting... cuz I didn't mean it as "not nice."

Counter-question: Was your answer meant as "not nice" or would I be reading into it to detect a hint of annoyance?

Oh yeah, to stay on track:

I don't see the point in nail polish

I don't know, black nail polish always carried a stigma for me. It's supposed to be badass and cool (I think ). However seeing far too many wannabe vampires/werewolves and psuedo-masochistic exhibitionists has created a strong negative association for me. I put on black nail polish and suddenly I feel like some tragically misunderstood preteen trying to make a statement and I can't remove the damn polish fast enough.

Other than that I quite like nail polish, I tend to use the darker tone blues, reds, and greens. I'm also fond of metallic colors like bronze and sometimes silver.

oooh I quite like this too. Classy, not angst ridden.

I like to grow my nails long. Ridiculously long.

Painting them is a combination of a stress-reliever and a desire to have them be aesthetically pleasing.
I'm known for using dark red, green, blue with a design in a lighter tint.
My favorite design ever (that I've done) were black with a stencil-style neon green leaf on each fingernail, and half a dead tree on the thumbs that made a whole tree when I put them side by side.

I like the feel of having nailpolish on...it makes me more conscious of my hands and my touch seems to be lighter.

And yet...I abhor wearing make-up.

I like nail polish...on other people. I think I look like a little kid trying to dress up when I wear it myself. Plus I work with my hands and the polish chips off in nanoseconds. I don't tend to grow my nails out very long (again because I work with my hands and ripped nails suck).

I think that someday I will go and get a manicure. Then perhaps I shall be swayed more toward wearing nail polish. Plus someday I won't be beating the shit out of my hands all the time.

I do wear clear polish a lot though to make my nails look shiny and healthy for times when I need to look more formal.

I never understood why women feel that having claws drenched in war paint makes them more appealing.

Nor do I understand why some men find digits that could rid them of an eye should they do anything wrong attractive, or which, if used for certain purposes, could leave a damn nasty scratch.0-0

Don't get me wrong, they're nice, but are they practical? Nopeeeee, gimme a cute girl with stubby nails anyday.

Aesthetics is understandable to a degree but if your evaluation of an object's meaning is focused prevalently on the breadth of valid relationships it participates in, then you would view "Nail Polish" as simply excessive.(considering the effort needed to acquire it.) And if you have an inclination for efficiency, then...

I like chips, yes. salty ones.

Being cute is not practical. It's all a matter of taste.

For about 18 months, I got acrylics. They were actually very durable (although I still managed to break them on occasion), and I liked how they looked... but especially after my nails started to grow out, they'd get in the way of me picking up things, playing the piano, etc. It was also $25+ every 4-5 weeks, and I probably should have redone them more often.

So I've gone without for awhile now. The only problem is that, regardless of what I do or what vitamins I take or strengtheners I use, my nails still break constantly and I can't grow them out to any length. I prefer options; it's annoying to have limitations.

Guys, ironically, seem to have sturdier nails by nature.
Maybe they should be the ones painting designs on them.

Ain't that the truth. Hair styling is even worse.

Seeing it up close the nails themselves look pretty darn good, but I don't think it matches with the color of human skin. If I were a girl to attend "pimp my nails" I'd go for a natural nail'y color as drastic colors doesn't really do it for me. In my view make-up in general are for enhancing, not for changing. Colors like red/green aren't colors commonly found on the human body so I guess that's the reason I don't find it particularly attractive. Green even carry negative connotations; if one naturally find something green on a human body it most likely would be some kind of disease.

Nail polish used to be serious business. Now it seems it's accepted that everyone can do it.

During the Chou Dynasty, around 600 BC, the royal colors were metallic gold and silver. So, the polish color choice for royalty was the same. It seemed that whatever the Dynasty color was; that was the color worn on people’s nails of the Chinese upper class. If the lower class attempted to wear nail polish, they could be punished by death. The polish at the time was colored with natural pigments.

Yes, I like black nail polish [on a girl]. I don't know how I feel about other colours - you're right, probably negatively. I generally prefer black everything. Maybe with slight additions of other colours, for a bit more character.

when i was a lot younger i used to associate it with sexualized femininity more than most people do (i think), and would avoid coming in contact with a female family member wearing it due to the stigma of incest (think one of them touching you with her nipple).

i guess i was kind of a creepy weirdo from a common standpoint. i'm over that^, i wouldn't wear it though. it can definitely work on a girl, if done right.

nailpolish always looks a bit ridiculous to me, on my hands or others ... I mean: why why why ??? just makes your hands look weird

long nails are not very handy with Aikido anyways ; tend to keep the nails on right hand a touch longer for nicer guitar sounds though & you need some nail for scratching don't you

but painting them  nâh

I cannot grow long nails at all. In one of my rare ultra-girlie moments I tend to paint them dark colors (purple, black, blue, dark red). I can't stand neutrals or pastels on fingernails.

im not a huge fan of nail polish. I think that polished (finger) nails (especially when using colors such as pinks, yellows and greens etc) kinda look childish. but that's just the way i see it. Not trying to offend anyone.

Black polish is okayy. im not a huge fan of that either but its not too bad.

If i do get my nails polished, i usually want a tinted clear or i get a french manicure.
I like them the best the way they grow lol
