Last night I washed my cell phone. I had it in my pants pocket, forgot that it was there and then dumped the whole kit and kabootle in the washing machiene. Right now I have it in a bag of rice in the vain hope that it might dry out and perhaps have some functionality. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do or I am just fucked?

At least it got clean...:)

Anyways if you'd want to be able to restore some functionality... open it up until you'd see the microscemes and then let it dry.... because some of water may be left inside your mobile phone, it is nessesary to open it.

Although it is more likely unfunctional in the future. I've had the same problem with two mobiles. One never started to function again. The other one I opened up so there wouldn't be any water left on the microscemes while letting it dry. Later on, it got functionality back in a day or two.

As long as none of the electronics were destroyed in the potential shorting while it was exposed to water then it'll work fine when its 100% dry again. The ICs should be fine, so I think moisture in the caps are the main worry. They seal them up, but if it was in the wash, the temperature changes may have allowed some moisture to leak in.

^^Aw shit I washed it with hot water and rinsed it with cold.

I have opened it up a bit- I took the battery, sim card and memory chip out I don't know if I can open it up any further.

Just let it sit. After a few days try to charge it. I did the same thing, you could see the water in it, and after a few days it worked fine. I was very surprised.

I washed my iPod shuffle. It worked again after a few days, after I popped it on the charger. The disappointing thing was it busted the wires of my beloved er6i earphones (which I actually picked up for $20 shipped with a busted jack - but it is much harder to repair on the earphone end - it wasn't just a loose connection unfortunately.

Uh, I dropped mine in the sink while I was clenaing said sink, with bleach, and lots of hot water>>

About a week after I got it for christmas too!

All I did was leave it on a radiator for about four hours or so (I did this with two other phones, and in those cases used a hot-press/ warm computer monitor, anything with mildly hot air should do the trick.)

Not sure if European phones are the same as yours, but on both my phone and battery, there is a little pale circle, a perfect little thing, seems as if it's been cut into it by a master craftsman to reveal the soft flesh of the phones organs:D

Uh, and although I'm not sure of the science behind it, I do know that when the organs of your phone are blitzed with water, they turn red, completely red, or sometimes a thick shade of pink, to represent this.

I'm told if the entire thing is red, you're essentially screwed, but if only a little is, you have some hope.

(having said that, it was half red on my phone, entirely red on the battery, and yet, the drying phase reduced both to near white, and working order.)

Uh, hope that helps sweetie.
:D

What kinda phone is?
Yeah, just wait for a while. If it doesn't continue functioning after waiting it out, try open it and see if any damage is done to the "mother board".

Ugh, I did this too. Unfortunately, mine didn't respond when I synced it back up to the computer. That was a sad day. I had a mini shuffle burial in my tech drawer.
I can't live without some kind of mp3 player (I would go insane) so I went out and got another one the second I determined it was a lost cause :).

But yes, dry your phone out. It'll probably take a good couple of days for all of it to dry, and then hook it up to the charger. I've also heard of people setting a blow drier on a low heat setting to help the evapotation process along. Not sure I would recommend this without more research, though. Good luck!

You'all arn't going to believe this but last night I put in the sim card and battery and booted it up and the damn thing worked! It still has a bit of water behind the touch screen so I removed every thing again and am allowing it to dry out some more but it looks like It might be ok. Ooh ooh I just thought of a pun: I might be out of hot water. Oh my that was bad, I hope it won't get a cold reception. Sorry for the bad humor, I'm just feeling bubbly over the thought that I might not have to spend $300 on a new phone .

Cool! Congrats.

I borked a phone before. No amount of drying helped, but that was many years ago.

You're probably just fucked. I did that to my very first phone and it just went to poo.

Or you can take it apart and dry it ^^ That might help
