I pinned your spacecraft to an asteroid, did I win? Or are you going for something more nihilist so the only way I can win is to feel as though I have succeeded?
I've thus far applied for ..one job...
and cut down smoking slightly .. yay me.

Deserving on a congratulations but I haven't gotten that far in my German so I'll find the closest thing. Ich liebe du.

ok I will save $1000 towards my travelling fund. To do this I will party less and think about what I will buy for food, how to do it cheaply and try not to impulse buy. I want to carry this on to the next month and build up some money.

In my mind I originally wanted to double this figure, but it will be exceedingly difficult. If after this month I have succeeded, then I can try and save even more in the next month and build up that way.

I don't have any goals that coincide with the month of January, or any other month-based system. I don't plan things that way.

Mainly I'm avoiding cold weather until Asheville warms up again. Dog and I are in Charleston SC and will probably soon be heading farther south, unless it warms up a lot here. I'm hoping we have a warm winter and I can return to Asheville in early March instead of late March. The only thing I feel I must accomplish between then and now, is rehabilitate my knowledge of DirectX programming, and determine whether the Urho3D game engine is actually useful to me. https://urho3d.github.io/ Making more progress than that would be a bonus; it is not strictly necessary.

A number of things I'd like to move forwards with in my life are social, but I don't think I'll probably be able to do any of them until I'm back in Asheville.

I intend to make a few paintings while I'm on the road as well.

Experience has taught me that it's best to keep the list of plans and aspirations short. Longer lists, you're simply not going to do all the things on them.

Don't know how or where you want to travel, but if one lives out of one's car as I do, travel cost is merely gas. Which is darned cheap in the USA right now. Not cheap enough for me to head for San Diego though. I've got a new laptop budget to consider.

The end of the hunt is expulsion(which I yet to developed)
But I just make the world,if that what you want to call that a win go for it.
It will be a game inside a game where two(hunter and hunted)spaceships are controlled by humans(the enemy storywise),and other spacecrafts by AIs(blocking your way).
Meanwhile the player spaceship AI will comment on the stupidity of the situation.

Been practicing, as of today it will be 12 days straight (started early). I've been learning a lot of vocabulary but am having some trouble with grammar and pronounciation. Hopefully I will be able to improve this in the coming days.

Hmmm this thread has been under mine eyes.

Goals:
1. See how valid a career in beekeeping is
2. Find a way off of this planet
3. Learn to fake different types of smiles
4. Attempt to re-assimilate with homo sapiens if 2. fails

No no no......

I am considering cryogenics, but with the whole body intact and frozen before death by other means.
I may then awaken off-planet.

It will be probably take thousands of years for scientific necromancers to arise, and in that time my frozen body may be forgotten/auctioned off to a necrophiliac/be left to thaw in the bush and devoured by hyenas.

A less riskier option is to get fit and learn some sciency stuff, somehow become an astronaut and stage a coup on the ISS, declaring it sovereign ground and constructing a lunar commune from it.

Death is reserved only for the unforeseen snake bite/shotgun to mouth/gravity mishap.

Then someone in the very limited population decides they don't like how you run things and kills you. Or a screw goes missing from your fragile environment and you die from it.

You're probably better off figuring out how to become a ruling elite on solid ground. Get all the resources directed to you, so that the research you need to extend life actually gets done. Orchestrate guinea pigs to get the first versions of the serum, so your brain doesn't have to split in half or whatever the bad side effect actually is. If you start now, you might get your miracle treatment before you'd otherwise be dead.

I would be interested as well. At least in doing it on a small scale. Unfortunately due to the close proximity of my neighbors this does not appear to be realistic.

I'm an impulsive slob (sob?) too.

I quit my job this week... My friend planted the seed..
So I suppose my goals for January include getting a new job, making sure I get a new hair cut, cutting down on the weed - and smoking in general. Start getting fitter (gunna start playing basket ball).. and erm... get a new phone/or get this one fixed... go do that thing at the nurses I need to do.. Go dentist... Complete some uni obligations... Resolve my dating problems.. Avoid my family problems..

Not alot to do then

Well, at the start of Jan I was still quite disorientated from the end of Dec.. Now I think I'm starting to return to 'norm'.

I've now applied for a fair few jobs; I do aim to join the NHS before the year is out, but until then I've decided I want to work back behind the bar. I love barwork, give's me the chance to get out, socialise often, earn a fair few bob and have the craic. (Logic behind that is that I become more 'J' when extraverting.. is good for life planning)

I'm a student, I'm in me 20's, I live with two of my best mates..young, free and single.. I should be having the time of my life, and so I intend to.

My main concern is buckling down for a serious uni work load in February.
Provided I can balance pub life with a healthy regime I should be good to go.. The only potential downfall I forsee is the temptation for alcohol to become my vice once again.. But Ill try to avoid that at all costs.

I am torn between some ideologies and philosophies.. in relation to some personal matters .. which I am too proud to pose here.. I'll comfort myself with he oldest adage in history; c'est la vie.

Todays date:

My January goals include avoiding procrastination in setting monthly goals and combining rotator cuff rehabilitation therapy with weight loss. I'll even list the post-holidays weight that stunned me into action: 225 pounds. Goal: "Fewer."

Yellow might have first hand experience with this career path. For me though it depends on a few factors: the density of flowering plants around the apiary's area, the weather patterns (stormy weather is bad news) and competitors.

Glücklich Januarfest! (I'm fully aware that this means January fixed and not January 1st/fest.)

Actually, der Fest does, in fact, mean festival in German. So Januarfest is not as wrong as you think it is.

Do you have any tips for learning German (assuming that you yourself learned it as a second language) My training mostly consists of what I get from a free (yet surprisingly good) app. (Duolingo). I managed to work in a class of introductory German at my college but I would like to go into it as though I have been practicing for a year.

I use the Mango Languages program. So far it's working. I'm getting better at sentence structure, and I can say enough to establish the languages I know, and that I'll be there on vacation.

Once I get even better I plan on watching videos or movies I like in German.

I've completed 10 of the lessons. I keep a notebook with a few words and tips. I've done 10 days in the past few weeks. Now that holidays are over I'm back in schedule, so I have more time to get into the rhythm.

Progress on defining my 'something something facebook' resolution:

My week of being logged out of facebook is complete. I only logged in once - on day 2 facebook emailed me "you have 14 notifications [etc] .. a lot has happened" and I fell for it. I've received another 11 such emails since then but the nagging annoyed me and I resisted.

On the first day I felt something like "I miss my friends" which didn't make much sense to me. I decided to keep a journal of my reactions to review later.

The journal is interesting. It seems my issues with facebook are more emotional than practical. Some of my notes read like someone walking away from an emotionally abusive relationship.
Hmmmm.
The point of the exercise was to go back to facebook after a week to see what I missed. Now I doubt it will be that simple. Maybe my Fe is too naive to cope with social media, perceiving obligations that don't really exist.

Next step: I'll keep the journal another week but this time let my Thinking pop in and out of facebook to check for any practical reasons not to delete my account.

I added some colonics to my fasting routine :ahh:. A colonic is 4 cups of water up yo ass. Feeling excellent though. Day 13. Love to see my lean face in the mirror again. 1lb weight loss per day. I am more into researching stuff right now, than into introspection. Nevertheless stuff is happening to me, spiritually. Yesterday i talked to my father and started laughing about something silly, i just couldn't stop myself. You know, i would have never willfully displayed emotions in the presence of my father. He has a habit of using it against me. I also smiled at a stranger without any premeditation, instead of looking away, like neurotypicals would. My emotional body has become more relaxed. Am normally not really interested in watching movies, entertainment. My blood circulation becomes a bit stronger and i want to move more, from now on. Hate that weather, but it's perfect for a fasting retreat. I don't work, btw, i couldn't handle such a stress in a fasted state. Or any other state, lol.

How i made facebook into less of a drag: I don't have friends on Fb, just remote online acquaintances (apart from ex GF) who make me feel trapped in my current persona without giving anything in return, not even support of that persona, at best tolerance of it. I have thrown most strangers out, to minimize the feeling of being stared at. My feed is filled with status updates of selected friends and nothing else, however when i open facebook from my bookmark, i don't look at my feed, i look at an interest list, which is filled with contents that i am interested in, Satsang, Art, Info about Health, but not random curious shit that distracts me, only shit that adds true value to my live. This way facebook is a nice addition to feedly com. It mixes up things nicely, while i have many categories in feedly. I try to hide most of the kind of political crap that might pull my mind into an argumentative mode. Nevertheless facebook is the only place where i would learn about current events like those paris attacks, etc. the world knows how to go to hell without me telling it what to do. it's all just neurological evolution anyways. i want to help individuals, so i post about insights that can make a difference. nobody gives a shit.

I'm not really sure why you quoted me to tell me this though, how long would $1000 dollars worth of gas last you? It doesn't resolve the need to get more once you run out, unless you plan to stop afterwards.

My sources of income are unplanned and sporadic, so I'm making hay while the sun is shining! (or raining, as it's wet season right now).

------------

I have just under half of what I planned for saved already so I predict I could save anywhere between $1200-1600. It's hard to judge, hours vary and I'm incredibly impulsive.
I've also started breaking things down for every few days (this part sucks) and am doing things like only allowing $10 for food etc, then slowly shaving off the excess until I find the minimum I can live on, in some bearable equilibrium.

I've secured a job interview on Tuesday for a bar job in the middle of Brindley Place:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=b...hUKEwjc3fmslp3KAhXHmBoKHY_NCLsQ_AUIBygC&dpr=1

Right at the heart the city's beauty and culture, (If I squint hard enough, I can pretend I'm in Venice), exactly where I want to spend my 2016 - fingers crossed.

I've also begun my fitness & physio regime, which I had been putting off for oh so long. It's not bad once you start, it's just starting. The physio is the worst for me, bloody brutal. Snap, crackle and pop... But the anguish will alleviate in time.

Now I need to rope my INTP friend into basketball... and I might get the pads out again. I suppose a jog or two wouldn't hurt me either... aha.

And water.. must replace the coffee cup with a water bottle.
And sex.. Gotta be getting me some of that.

Oh, and I've just put the lottery on - pray for me - If i win I'll take your word for it that you did, and we can all be winners together.

Heheh.

After 1am. (water shed)

I can confirm. There are no set standards either, if you see people getting it on in the gutter, behind a bush or on the street, its normal.

You still need money to eat

Not in the USA. If you're poor enough, you get food stamps.

and pay for everything else.
One must be willing to minimize expenses, to afford food stamps. :D

I don't drive so I either will have to rideshare or pay public transport costs, I plan on doing both.
I'm not into the backpacking life but technically people get it done. Combo of hitchhiking, riding the rails, and some hardcore people just thru hike.

A bicycle could work to some degree, and there are definitely people who have gone on odysseys that way, but most roads in the USA aren't bike friendly and I'd consider it dangerous. People in some places will run you off the road simply because they don't think you belong on it. Happened to a friend of mine in Spokane, who was carless due to driving while drunk and having his license revoked. Not like he was some yuppie decked out for racing, his "fellow" rednecks were just mean.

Personally I believe in acquiring a cheap car and learning how to fix it. Worked for me.

how long would $1000 dollars worth of gas last you?
A long time! I've paid as low as $1.65/gallon recently and I'm getting 26 mpg interstate in an old carbureted beater. How far you need to go, depends on how much you think you need to see. I've done what's available in my region.

I'm a British/ Australian, travelling Aus. We don't have food stamps, and even if I was in the US I doubt I would be eligible for them. So I must save and live as economically as I can.

A bicycle

Nah, too much effort for this extreme heat. Borderline suicide.

Personally I believe in acquiring a cheap car and learning how to fix it. Worked for me.

Problem is, I don't have the surplus cash to invest in getting my license. I've also been travelling for around 10 months already and haven't really faced any problems due to the limitations of not having one, there are usually other options.

I would consider it if I already had the license, but we're in different circumstances and I don't feel like jumping through hoops right now to make it work.

Yes I was going to say the same, but I though it might be TMI.

Pfft, c'mon it's intpf... TMI? lol

Do they make you pay a fortune for that sort of thing in Australia? In the USA it's a trivial expense. I think I just paid $40 to renew my license for another 8 years. Car insurance is my biggest recurring expense, that's about $400/year. Car taxes vary by state, I'm in a state where they're modest. Plus I have a really old car, which is a major advantage when being taxed on its value.

Well I am at least staying somewhat on track and I am pretty impressed by how much German I am learning considering the amount of time I have put into it.

College starts soon but not looking forward to purchasing books or accounting class.:knightsword:

Well it's finding money for: A few brush up lessons, theory test, practical, car, insurance... Everything. It's a lot of time, money and effort and I'm a particularly lazy person.

I've secured a job interview on Tuesday

I went to my interview; I wasn't sure how upper class the market was so I made sure I went in my ESTJ best - cleavage and flowers to boot, ha. Good job I did, that's exactly what they were after. Bar's upper class aimed at professional 25-35 yo women.

I didn't really set out to join the upper market, my only ambition was to get a bar job in Town. Personally, I'm more at home at Scruffy Murphy's. Either way, this is a pleasant & stylish bar, if I do have to fake anything, it's only up until the contract is signed - then they're stuck with me either way.

The manager was nice, smart, friendly, pleasing to the eye ... Interview went really well, started smooth, although slight anxiety managed to creep in somewhere in the middle - which he observed, but smiled and allowed me to recover from, and then I went on to end a smooth note once more.

Hopefully I get it, he did show a pile of 16 other applications to be vetted that day.
But if I get turned down I'll take it as an opportunity to perhaps join a bar which is more up my personal street.

I've also begun my fitness & physio regime, which I had been putting off for oh so long. It's not bad once you start, it's just starting. The physio is the worst for me, bloody brutal.
I'm maintaining daily pysio and core fitness routine's.. But I still havn't made any move's towards cardio yet.. I want a partner but everyone who keeps saying they'll join me flakes out. Apart from that I have the most horrible trapped nerve in my right shoulder. Been nearly two weeks and nothing I do will shift it, I feel like taking a scapal and slicing through the fucker.

Now I need to rope my INTP friend into basketball...
He's suddenly regressed, and I can never get a serious word or commitment out of him...

And water.. must replace the coffee cup with a water bottle.
I'm drinking more water... But I'm still on lots of caffeine.

And sex.. Gotta be getting me some of that.
Has decided to quit the dating game in order to make way for casual sex.

Oh, and I've just put the lottery on - pray for me - If i win I'll take your word for it that you did, and we can all be winners together.
I didn't win the lottery.

Sometimes, cleavage is a result of sheer laziness. However, I agree that tactical cleavage is lacking in subtlety.

I've been working on my German. I managed to get two books and two CDs on German from the library. I'm a lot better at stringing sentences together, and the books in combination with the Mango online program make a great team.

I'm already bilingual (I speak Spanish as well as English), so I have quite a gift with language learning. In a month or two I'll touch up on Spanish.

I was not being judgmental on the cleavage thing, merely observational or analytic or perhaps obsessed with cleavage.

My own goal progress: Therapy exercise has knocked the rotator cuff pain down to "negligible" so I can move up to actual muscle-building exercises that should work toward preventing the problem from recurring. Weight loss is also "negligible," still in the range of what a normal daily fluctuation could be.

Your insurance is cheap in comparison to the UK, prices vary individually, but some over here are looking at paying your yearly fee per month.

My January goals are all on hold - probably until feb now.
My new January goal is to find a drug dealer in Camelot.

Not as easy as I assumed..

I spent all day exploring the town alone, keeping my eyes peeled for anyone who looks like they might know where I can get some weed.. So far, no luck in this upperclass, white dominated town...

I did get see all sorts of cool stuff tho, from Roman remnants 70ad, to king Arthurs Round Table... Never seen one town packed with so much history before, then again.. It was the capitol of England, when England was birthed.

I did

I predict I could save anywhere between $1200-1600. It's hard to judge, hours vary and I'm incredibly impulsive.
I've also started breaking things down for every few days (this part sucks) and am doing things like only allowing $10 for food etc, then slowly shaving off the excess until I find the minimum I can live on, in some bearable equilibrium.

Goal of $1000 minimum accomplished. I'm actually sat on around $1300 currently and have a more accurate idea of what I should make in the last week or so of what's left this month; which will be between $600/700.

I had some unforeseen opportunities fall into my lap. Rather than learning to save more efficiently I'm finding other sources of income. I think I'm actually spending a lot more, in turn with generating much more to save.

I'm also getting some ideas of buying and selling goods which other backpackers are trying to sell before they leave the country, often for a lot less than market price. Plan is to just sell the items back to other travellers just entering the country.

So the month is about over and I figured I would put together this closing statement for myself.

Was I successful: Sorta

Why/Why Not: I did put a decent amount of effort in though it was hard to sustain towards the end.

What did you learn: Some basic German, I know more now than I otherwise would have. I learned simple things like nouns, greetings, some alphabet pronunciation, some pronunciation, basic sentence formation, and how to find German letters on my phones keyboard.

Looking forward: I will continue to learn German as I am taking classes in it and hopefully will continue to follow other goals as well. Unfortunately my education is really starting to get in the way of my learning.

Feel free to copy this format.
