I have to agree with Melllvar there. Makes much more sense to be notified of a quote; it has more constructive value over mentions. It also negates the possible popularity contest I referred to.

Unless somebody is so invested in the idea of competing with other members that they count mentions on people's profiles or threads and create the competition in their head, I don't see that potential. There are no counters on the forum or in any immediate sight of members.

Because some people like to see notifications that's not related to popularity contests. The collision of expectation and an unwanted reality is like being trolled, and if given enough repetition of the unwanted, the notification becomes meaningless.

The notification is already meaningless. I don't need a special notification to indicate that someone wants my attention. I can just look through the thread and see if someone responded, but the notification just makes things simpler.

I don't have to be notificated. And I think it's meaningless and meaningful. Meaningless again, because I don't have to be notificated. Meaningful because it makes things simpler to find.

Well, something went wrong: Five modifications needed updating, but one the translator of yore was long gone: so 4: updated them and added Tapatalk, and I couldn't post...

Uninstalled Tapatalk, same thing. Turned off 2 of them just upgraded ( template modification & advanced user tagging ) and it works again.

So you can't tag if ever you did.



Basically, everyone has the mantra: upgrade; then when you do it stops working. Doesn't stop them telling you to keep the upgrade as anyone ever on a Mozilla or Wordpress help forum can notice.

A pity, but there you have it... Maybe we work something out in the future.

If I understand you right then the numbers you're referring to are presumed to be that member's registration number.

Rejoice! User tagging is back now that we've moved to Xenforo! Just prefix an @ to an user's name. While typing (at least 2/3 characters) it even shows you autocomplete suggestions.

BUT WAIT, there's more : I have also found a way to fix all the old [ mention ] tags that were broken in the move and translate them to the new system, complete with user info pop-ups, as you can verify in the ancient posts in this very thread!
