New around here, so: hi everyone!

I've taken the Myers-Briggs test some years ago and found out I'm an INTP, though just barely, I'm very close to being a INFP. Horace Walpole once said the world's a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think. Being so keen on both I find it hard to decide which one to be, I often say I'm pink and black, pessimistic and terribly optimistic at the same time... I suspect I'm hard to understand, though I analyze myself all the time in order to understand the world around me and analyze the world in order to understand myself. That's why I'm addicted to personality tests and how I've stumbled across the MB test again... and here I am.

I apologize in advance for my English since I'm not a native speaker and it may sound awkward sometimes.

Hello and welcome. Hope you like it here. Perhaps after interacting with the intps here you'll be able to tell which you identify with more. We also have a collection of infps for comparison purposes.

Welcome!

I've always branded myself as an INTP but I've had other people tell me I appear
ENTP, INFP, INTJ, and INFJ. So I'm aware of the confusion it can cause.

(By the way, your English is honestly quite impressive.)

Your english is better than mine but I'm American so that explains it. ;)

If you have one of these welcome mats outside your front door, you are probably INTP.

Welcome Nocturna, I used to teach english to non-english speakers and I found that once they learned it that they could speak better than a person who was born with the language. You pick up so much slang as you grow up but when you have to learn it as a second language you have a stronger grasp of it's grammer and linguistics.

@Inappropiate Behaviour, I find a gun works better.

Hello Nocturne. Hope we can help you sort yourself out, and if you think you are an INFP, there are some of those here too, so you're completely welcome either way. :D

@IB: Very effective deterrent to most people, yes. As an added bonus, anyone we'd be predisposed to like would just find pleasure in wiping their feet on them. ;)

Hi Nocturna and welcome,
I apologize in advance for my English since I'm not a native speaker and it may sound awkward sometimes.
Nocturna

You speak very well, certainly a lot better than a lot of folk who's first language is English. Are you a night owl as your username implies?

Welcome! and if you can't find the real thing, I have been known to serve as a doormat...
Da Blob

I, too, have served in that capacity on occasion. One year, I decided to formalize it by dressing up as one as a Halloween costume.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomes! They are much appreciated.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments on my English, they're appreciated too. I love English, began studying it when I was 8 and it easily became my second language (I speak others but none as well), so much that I often think and dream in English instead of my native Portuguese. However, being too much of a perfectionist, I'm never completely satisfied with what I do or know and always have this sense of impending doom, in this case the sense that my English may not be understandable enough. I agree with you, The Fury, but also think it's mainly because we're never fully at ease and therefore strive harder to be grammatically correct. One of the great things in my country's we don't dub movies or TV shows, so for someone linguistically inclined it's a great way of learning.

Inappropriate Behavior: :D I really should get one of those, though my way works well enough. When I don't feel like opening the door or answering the phone, I don't! And it doesn't matter how long it rings!
Thanks for your offers Da Blob and Misanthrope. I'm not sure what to do with a human doormat, but it may can in handy, we never know. ;)

Misanthrope: 100% night owl! I'm the real deal when it comes to night creatures! :)

And btw, I'm female.

Alas, the only purpose for a doormat is to walk all over it and to cleanse oneself by besmirching it.

Misanthrope: I like your avatar, it's a bit creepy but a good drawing. Did you do it yourself?

No, I'm not very good at drawing. Too left brained probably. Thanks, I like creepy things.:phear:

Hey Nocturna! Nice to meet you! INFPs and INTPs both are awesome, I actually can't decide which I like better :)

@IB: Love the welcome mats, I'd oddly feel more inclined toward a person with those mats.

Another welcome for Nucturna!
INTP/FP confusion rings a bell with me. There's definitely some 'F' in me (according to my first test, I was even an INFP).

Hi concojones! (funny name, btw) Thank you!
I never scored INFP, but I've taken the test 3 times with months/years apart and always my T was close to being a F and my N close to a S. I find it's almost scary how much I fit into de INTP profile but can also relate to INFP - the healer, ISTP - the artisan, and even ISFP - the artist, I'm a bit of all those too.

Morgoth: yeah, I guess you're right, but it's not just Cloud, it's *that* scene. Breaks my heart all the time. What can I say? I have a soft spot for all things tragic.

I've become too jaded by the tests that they cannot accurately depict me. I subconsciously pick the answers I want to define me since I cannot objectively look at myself.

For the longest time I refused to believe I could be an F, but now I believe I'm about 50/50. Twelve or so years ago I would have immediately picked INFP if I were given the descriptions. I also used to relate with Doug Funny, a huge INFP.

Eh, at least I got INP down.

Actually, may as well fess up , I giggled at that scene, mostly due to the blood squished on his face.:D T' was a hollow laugh though, as I was sorely pissed at being downed by a bunch of poxy soldiers... DAMN THEM!!

@Morgoth: Well, if you put it that way I can giggle too, I can be a cold hearted bitch when I want to. :) You have to admit that scene in CC is 100 times more powerful than it was in FF7, where it felt just like a footnote. And it's not a bunch of poxy soldiers, it's a whole army of poxy soldiers and just one Zack! I wanted so much for him to escape... but it's not like we didn't know what to expect.

@Mac OS X Ocelot: I can relate to what you're saying, it happens to me too, I often find myself wondering if I'm answering according to what I believe to be true or according to the results from previous tests, thus getting into a self perpetuating cycle. But in the case of MBTI I know I tried hard to answer according to what I felt at that moment and it came pretty right, I identify as INTP above all others but know what I have from INFP, ISTP and ISFP. The N/S and F/T in me may vary a bit deppending on the day, but I'm pretty sure about the I and P.

Yeah....heh..did you ever read any any of the short stories they published?

the canon ones?

:(

Zacks story is pretty much a sad ending, even whens he dead, Aeris sort of rejects him...:D

and yeah..it's a lot harder to feel emotion with a bunch of high polygon big heads and a paragraph of text...

Yeah, these things aren't consistent. I've scored ENTP, INTP, INTJ and ENFP on these things.

The INTJ baffles me. But I can do a good INTP impression when I get into my intense work periods, and a good ENFP impression when I'm in love ;)

@Morgoth: <fangirl mode> Yes, I think I know the stories you're talking about. But the one about Aeris in the lifestream seems like it was written before AC (don't know if it was, just feels that way), it's like she doesn't have any sort of feelings for Zack at all. Anyway, I always thought Cloud should be with Tifa and annoying goody two-shoes Aeris should be a bit more sensible to the fact that Zack got himself killed trying to see her one last time! I'll hate her for life if Square doesn't make her a bit more enthusiastic about Zack. </fangirl mode>

Very true, whenever I do one of the MBTI tests it turns out that I'm an INTJ, but I feel much more at home here.

Hmm, maybe I'm an INTJ who has gone mad. No no shhh, you're not mad, just...different

I'am the same way, i feel like an INFP, but i am a INTP. i have only taken the test once, but i plan to take it more. My F i very close to my T, i beleive the correct percent was 45% F and 55% T, but my I N P over power everything else. Stange thing is that al though im 100% I, sometimes I feel like 100% E.
