We need a dedicated thread for stuff that can save lives. The other thread is about saving your money and stuff.
We can use this thread to discuss facts of hygiene as much as medicine.
So you want drugs, i have drugs.
Selenium seems relevant to virus proliferation as well, Serac.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
Thanks for pointing out about zinc before, Serac. Did you link to medmastery? cant remember. It's nicely done video that shows the virus in action, if we can believe that. It discusses zinc and the proposed corona medicine chloroquine.
You did link to that study about zinc.
Other things to keep in mind: protecting infected lungs from collateral damage of immune action. This is what kills people.
B3/niacin is associated with less damage from lung related sepsis.
Vitamin c comes up again and again.
The body's own antioxidant glutathion protects the lungs. The recylcing of it depends on selenium, zinc and vitamin c.
A good dietary source of selenium is brazil nuts and zinc is generally more easy to get from WFPB.
Btw, radical caloric deficits, such as 400kcal of protein stuff is associated with worse virus outcome/more proliferation. I speak with studies in mind. Can't fetch all the links. You would need to eat at least 1300kcal of WFPB, low caloric density stuff, lentils, broccoli, carrots, fruit, to get all the nutrients an i hope to demostrate, why the nutrients matter to virus proliferation.
But first. More about drugs.
Interferon (consuming some garlic raises it) and beta-glucans (2tsp deactivated nutritional yeast flakes or 1 can mushrooms) may boost immune system beforehand, so it can respond to infections more rapidly. If your already sick it may be too late and counterproductive, not entirely sure tho, maybe you know.
Vitamin D is associated with raising immunity but i haven't personally seen the science about how it interferes with acute infection. It's been highly beneficial with taking out chronic low levels infections. I megadose currently and it seems to make me feel good. Magnesiusm is a relevant cofactor here. You can dump a large amount of D into your fat tissues, it will be released more slowly.
Basically, you can never be reductionist. You need all the drugs you can buy, lol. The body needs to have all strings pulled together to come to live and optimum self healing powers. You just need to know about the individual nutrients to realize, that your lifestyle is deficient and that you wont be able to stand up to crisis. You are the risk group, so take care. 30% lung damage after recovery and long term damages from hospital treatment with antibiotics (chronic infections causing rheuma, etc) doesn't make you any younger.
Now for the fun part.
My understanding is this (and its picked up intuitively from different sources and may not be accurate)
Its normal for viruses to mutate and therefore normal for vaccines to be ineffective by the time they are published, but mutation is not all bad.
The reason they mutate is not hostile evolutionary intent and cleverness. Killing the host has zero evolutionary benefits for a virus, if it has intrinsic evolutionary intelligence at all. I think these mutations that are associated with much damage are mainly random accidents.
And since the viruses are not coming from humans, they don't replicate as well in humans. Therefore they deteriorate by mutation/accident, become less infectious from replication to replication and over time, which is why these waves of animal viruses ebb off in human populations after a while. So: low population density or more quarantine, less frequent infections, more time for faulty replication in between, more deterioration of the virus, less efficient infections, a smaller wave of total infections. Is not just herd immunity that stops the wave. Or at least immunity is not only about immune cells but also has to do, with how much our cells can resist to replicating this animal or microbe born DNA/RNA crap, that does not serve our cells.
Unfortunately this crap causes more damage, while replicating in humans. In contrast, it's operation in animals, such as bats may even serve some strange benefit. They keep replicating the material but it doesn't seem to wipe out their populations.
Perhaps one should not immediately infect all young people with artificially replicated viruses in the laboratory (some freaks have proposed this strategy), which are therefore absolutely identical and will therefore develop completely differently than natural infections would develop from person to person, each time causing an accidental damage to the Virus would be involved.
Under natural circumstances, both the immune system and the replication mechanism of a wide range of different viral material of a virus family would be confronted.
Now i am just getting started.
It does not seem implausible to me that the evolutionary reason for the constant replication of native viruses (as in human influenza and bat corona) may have to do with overpopulation.
It could be, for example, that metabolic products, e.g. enzymes, which are only incompletely matured due to a nutrient deficit, such as zinc or selenium, do not fulfill their ideal function and accumulate in the body, and that cells with certain RNA changes / mutations are still able to make use of such a "manure" (achieve proliferation, utilizing them), even if the resulting cell is ugly and kinda kills the host.
This would mean that such changed cells, or the changes themselves, multiply when a population is starving and the population is reduced so much by sudden death that the food is again sufficient for everyone.
Now all you have to do is give a real name to the RNA change in these cells, such as Virus (V is for Vicious / Change) and the murderous bogeyman is perfect. But despite being a highly subjective concept, it really does exist. Without this RNA mutation, malnutrition would have some other consequences. It would probably damage the whole genome, if deficient individuals were to survive and reproduce, which could lead to the devolution of the whole species. A species without a such lethal viral RNA mutations would therefore disappear through devolution. All species that exist after countless ages of evolution coexist with some viral phenomena.
With this consideration I do not propagate any idea of an overpopulation of humanity. At most, I take nutritional deficiency into account, related to silly food industry practice. Besides, it's just an example. I'm just questioning our idea of what viruses are. We generally talk about them as if they were living microbes and show photos of infected cells. As far as I know, it's our own cells, with a junk RNA building block. We have no idea how many such building blocks there are. What makes one of them go viral? It seems to me a question of quality.
I thought it would be funny to frame this as "hacking" because this message board doesn't have a health and biology section. To me, this is also a bit of social hacking. Commercial interests block the acceptance of truth by polluting the world with silly prejudices, such as 'masks don't work, don't bother'.
As you may know i have leukemia and i intend to survive this and any further flu waves.
I am engaged to publish what i learn, for other people with my disease, who have less time to research stuff.
I also live with my 80yr old father and tho we are not very close, i would hope to give him ideal advice as well.

Dietary Selenium in Adjuvant Therapy of Viral and Bacterial Infections - PMC
Viral and bacterial infections are often associated with deficiencies in macronutrients and micronutrients, including the essential trace element selenium. In selenium deficiency, benign strains of Coxsackie and influenza viruses can mutate to ...
