(not a philosophy thread)

If, as an INTP (that is to say no other types allowed unless you state them), you were to discover some or several "grand truth(s)", that is to say an important truth, undeniable (in your opinion at least), that encompasses large sections of your life/time spent thinking, would life suddenly become more dull for you/ would you (even temporarily) feel that you didn't have much of a purpose in life (unless the grand truth was related to purpose)?

Sorry for the long sentence. They don't normally get a paragraph long.

Grand truth... I shake this term. HOWEVER, if I was, by some means, to discover that some divine being is controlling some part of everyone's life, and therefore it's the absolute truth... No, it would be frustrating as I couldn't be able to control that part of my life, but it wouldn't make me feel like you've described.

You're tapping into your inferior (Fe) function with this question. All INTPs desire finding the Grand Truth. The truth always is something that would have enormous impact on humanity (again the Fe desire). As the inferior we all see this as our end point goal.

Integrating the inferior (a thread elsewhere presently) means following our muse (seeking Grand Truth), but not getting too desperate about it.

I think I have discovered one Grand Truth so far (personal grand truth), and it did not make my life duller. Quite the opposite, it opened the door to so many new areas of study which I had never imagined before that I am not sure if I will discover another in any near year.

btw, that personal grand truth, that I discovered almost five years ago, was the realization that not only will I never understand God as its purest form and purpose, but that there very well may be no God at all!

Depends on the specific "grand truths". I've come to many realizations about the universe, most of them have been exciting and enlightening. I have recently had an experience that did make me conclude that I have no purpose. It was actually spurred by my research into what it means to be an INTP. I realized that I am not important, that because of my nature, I probably will never contribute anything worthwhile to the human race. I also realized that we're all just a bunch of clones of each other, there could just as well be one of each type of people on earth and the "purpose" of the human race would be fulfilled. And so it has made me rethink my existence and even question why I care for other human beings. I used to really believe planet earth and the life on it were sacred, but now I don't think that it would matter if the whole thing blew up and left no trace.

These discoveries are just as valuable as any other. It is important to be able to see all perspectives, all potential "truths" of any subject. Many times the truth is subjective, at least as far as humans are able to comprehend.

The Great Purpose I seek would probably be a method of actually being able to reach The Grand Truth. A way of thinking that tunes in with the key of the universe. (Music:) Thinking in A when the universe plays in E wouldn't give me anything in the end.

As of now, I'm down jazzing it up with the dialectical method.

To actually think it would be able to find the truth without the proper instrument is just silly. But I find purpose in perfecting my way of philosophy.

Note: I use names, but this stuff relates to everyone.

A couple of you referred to "the grand truth", implying it is the grandest, but I said there may be several (unless you only really value on truth), and it is by no means ultimate, a "theory of everything" (even in a certain field).
As for intpz (2nd post in this thread), you took it to a specific type of truth (about god controlling us), and I was speaking generally. MissQuote did this too. I want to know in a general sense how such a truth would affect your psychosynthesis (psychology/attitude/...).
Finally, again about intpz, who said "I shake this term": it is defined very carefully. Not to be shaken in other words, considering the thread is about it.
