They use a scientific term in the context of scientific research. If you find this term threatening because of your political affiliations or beliefs, that is your problem. There is nothing political whatsoever about "climate change", although people bound by ideology or financial incentive are making it into a political issue.

Well Doc, I explained to him what the term means in various contexts and provided a link from a scientific organization explaining how they use the word, as well as the history of the terminology surrounding these phenomena in climate science. Yet Proxy, like his fellow ideologues, insists instead that some cabal of "clever PR people" came up with the label as part of a disinformation campaign. He offers no evidence of this assertion at all.

I mean I get your point, but seriously? Do we have to go through and logically refute every claim that the moon landings didn't happen or that 9/11 was an inside job? These explanations are labeled "conspiracy theories" typically because they've been analyzed and found not to stand up to scrutiny. I've heard the "PR people" argument before from many different angles, and it's garbage. Proxy here didn't even offer an argument, so you'll excuse me for not posting a detailed point by point rebuttal for an argument that wasn't made and evidence that wasn't presented.

Yes. Not personally, and some claims (the moon was made by cheese people) can be ignored, but the lens of logic should be held to all things (within reason, which seems to be the area of contention).

For all those who think that the climate change is not caused by humans, and is entirely in the limits of normal sufferage, I suggest that you start writing your paper now. If someone can distinctively show that modern understanding of climate change is just a "political ploy", there is a nobel-prize waiting.
