I don't like anime. It's melodramatic, over done and pretentious.

Anime is a ridiculously large genre. The popular shonen series tend to be retarded like Naruto and Bleach, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Give your Facebook to random stranger and the next thing you know he posts your pics on IRC to brag. True story. :cat:

It will be a cold day on the surface of the sun (like below the freezing point of water cold) before I ever do anything facebook related. But I'll give you a name:

Funny.. But really, stop the unrelated posting guys. Please. I made this thread for the reason stated in the OP, and not for jokes. So far I got 6 posts and only 1 answer. Hmm =/

What did you expect? You basically ask for very personal information of people who don't know you at all on a forum full of paranoiacs.

I expect people to either answer or not.. It's quite simple =)

Yes, but our way of not answering is by deflecting. Not silence.

You should know by now that no one gets to control the direction their threads go. We can very easily turn this into a thread where we debate our favorite cake icing.

Buttercream. Hands down.

Well, I don't deflect questions, I answer them. Or I don't. As I said. It's quite simple.

And sure you can turn it into whatever you want, I wouldn't appreciate that, though.

Well, when you put it like that...

I love chocolate buttercream but if the buttercream isn't chocolate then I prefer the tangy sweetness of cream cheese frosting. What is truly delicious is making a decadent chocolate buttercream, freezing it, chopping it up into chunks, and covering those chunks in tempered chocolate. Then you get these wonderful little chocolates with a dreamy cloudy center. You'll never buy store bought chocolates again.

Why do you want to know anyway?

Nothing like Black Forest cake...

That said, while these forums are probably the place on the internet I'd be most willing to share my facebook with, I'm not going to. I mean why do you care? I'd post a picture of my face but I don't really have any good ones at the moment and so I don't even have a facebook profile picture right now.

I also would like to point out that the only reason I'm on facebook is because I was bored and it appeared to be pretty much the only way to remain in contact with some people I cared about, seeing as I hate the phone and not everyone I like is on instant messaging frequently. And minigames. I still hate facebook.

I'm actually kind of ashamed of the fact that I even have a facebook.

Anime is a ridiculously large genre. The popular shonen series tend to be retarded like Naruto and Bleach, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Agreed. Oh and even though lots of the popular series are retarded or overdone, it's like sweets to me. You know it's bad for health and eating too much will make you feel sick, but it's nice every now and then.

Yeah, I checked your photo album =) Quebec? I though you guys only spoke French, hehe ;)
Well, most of the province speaks mostly French. But you can usually get by with English in the biggest towns and cities. Montreal is a particularly funny case where you will actually be greeted in English first in many areas as opposed to French.

Lobstrich, there are plenty of ways that you can see what your fellow forum members are "like in real life". There's the youtube thread, the photo thread if you want to see pictures. It seems kinda shady if you just ask for people's facebook information, though.

As for the whole cake discussion, it's nothing against you, but it was just so tempting.

Sure, I could just check the picture thread.. Except half of it is unrelated pictures, people trying to be funny and posting pictures of nothing.
And why Facebook? Because I use it to connect to people in the rest of the world, I enjoy learning about other cultures, they way people are in different countries. And I'd like to connect to people that are at least a bit more intellectual (You guys) than the average person around my age. Seeing that I'm only 18. That doesn't require alot.

Wether or not you find it shady, I don't really care about.. Why the fuck would I have a picture of myself while trying to be "shady"? If I want to be shady I'll go somewhere else where I haven't spent countless hours debating and with countless people.

And the cake.. Again, I don't really care. I think it's annoying and disrespectful, when I'm trying to create a thread and you "destroy" it.
It doesn't contribute to ANYTHING.
And I would never do that to your thread.

So I ask the mod again: Close the thread please.

Well, the "hehe ;)" did tip something off, but I'm not used to people not living here to know much about the debate regarding French and English in the Quebec province.

I find being called Cpt. Obvious annoying and disrespectful although I can imagine as many reasons for you to consider the information I gave as obvious as I can for you not knowing it. That said, I don't think you meant to insult me.

So I guess we're even since I talked about cake myself

Ok, I understand where you are coming from. It's just that this was perhaps not the best way to go about it? I did not mean to offend you, I apologize.
In all honesty, (as shameful as it is to admit it) I'm a total Facebook addict.

No apology needed. What is done cannot be undone =o
Well, how would you go about it then?

And 601 friends? I think addict is a nice way of putting it, hehe.

Not on-topic though. Name? No? =o

I didn't ask what's wrong with anime, I asked what's wrong with anime avatars... in the hopes of making a discussion about internet avatars, disembodied interaction, identity, and the advantages / disadvantages of showing your face.

But if you want to be so narrowminded...

Edit: Also you do not have the power to dictate what goes on in a thread and to determine if it is closed or not... Like ideas, you can provide an initial spark, but once they are out there, you have no ownership or control...

Hey, I know a LOT of kids. My High School's fairly large. :o

I would post my own face book information as opposed to asking for other people's, and ask THEM to friend ME.

Well since you either 'answer questions or you don't' I would suggest taking the same attitude towards the thread and choose to ignore it.

It's just a thread, if the Mods decide it's worth closing we will, regardless of whether you wish for it to be closed or not.
If you're bothered by the way it's going just abandon it, you hold no more claim to it than any other random thread.

And by the way, your problem in this thread was your demanding attitude, stop that and you'll find that people react a little more seriously
.

Well I said I didn't like Anime.. So why would the reasons for me not liking Anime avatars be any different?

And if you want a discussion about internet avatars, disembodied interaction, identity etc. Then go make a thread about it, I'd love to participate. But I didn't create the thread for that topic. So why would I contribute to a discussion that would do nothing but draw this thread futher away from the topic?

@ Your edit. I never said I believed taht I held the power to dictate what goes on in a thread, or to determine if it's closed or not. I asked you to stay on-topic. And I asked mods to close the thread, nothing more. How you came to the conclusion that I think I hold all the power, without me even mentioning holding it. Is beyond me.

amusing. I fancy carrot cake myself. Lobstrich you should mellow out a bit. As Anthille said, asking INTP's for their Facebook isn't probably going to give you too many hits. And our humor is anything but the sort that stays on topic =P. And theres no point in getting upset over something so silly as keeping a thread on track. You'll have gray hairs before you're 40.

More on track.

I noticed that sniketawekim and Fallenman both have a large amount of quotes from other famous people on their facebook page. I also have a lot of quotes on mine... do you think that users who have a lot of quotes are related to the NT types? I put the quotes because it relates to my perspective on things.

If I calm more down I'm going to shit my pants.. I'm not really upset. Just annoyed by the fact that people choose to ruin my thread instead of just not answering if they do not feel like sharing. I accept if people don't want to, just don't waste my time =)

I do that myself. Have quotes that is.

And yes, I guess it's quite common amongst NT types.

(@ the icing guys. You could at least have posted something a bit more relevant like Bloozie did, no? :))
