Does anyone else think INTPs are pretty dorky?

Yeah we're total dorks. Me especially.

Their obsession with Monty Python. Yes, yes, the rabbit jumps and eats people's throats. WE GET IT ALREADY.

Love it.

They reference INTPc, which is a site I voluntarily left. Too many INTP posers there, and one-upmanship and conflict.

The general opinion against INTPs is that we're not sociable and extroverted enough for their taste. Which is pretty much expected to be the opinions that many extroverts will have of INTPs.

Coincidentally, what some of them perceive as weaknesses are what I perceive as strengths. A general disregard (and even contempt) for small talk, a tendency to present instead of trying to entertain and an "obsession" with Monty Python.

INTPs are probably dorkier than most. I know I am, I don't appear as such, and I'm not a stereotype, but I'd say I am "dorkier" than most people.

There are distinctions to be made between dorks, nerds, and geeks. I, however, will not render them.

The defunct show Freaks and Geeks does a serviceable job of demarcating these three types.

I was quietly reading this forum, thinking about how I finally felt like there were people like me, people that could understand me.
Then I read everything the ENTPs said, which in gross generalisations, should atleast somewhat apply to me. I feel not only violated, but also cast back into my old 'most of the world will never have a clue about who I am, how I work and what I do'.

Perhaps they're just angry at how, with all their well developped people skills, they still cannot manage to get a conversation going with an INTP, where as INTPs together can exchange data faster than glassfiber.

PS: The five 'subtypes' of INTP just made me laugh. It'd make me sad if it was somewhat accurate, but this was just beyond that point.

Wait, so is Monty Python obsession an INTP "thing"? I know I love it, I wonder, are there any INTPs who don't think they were the best humor mankind has to offer?

Well I never actually sat down and watched the show but from peripheral information that I've picked up about the show, it seems like it wouldn't appeal to me.

JESUS. Look at the self-proclaimed INTP at the bottom of page 2. He sort of embodies everything they just flamed...

Sounded like a non-native English speaker that's new to forums to me?

I didn't find the self-proclaimed INTP annoying or dorky, just really polite. That's not something I associate with INTPs specifically.

We should cherry pick the likable ones, maybe even set up their pet troll Munchie on a play date with Da Blob, ROFL the poor little fucker won't know what hit him :D

I'm literally convulsing with laughter right now.

Actually they'd probably get along :slashnew:

At first sight I'm tall ( 6' 2'') and can do front-flips and back-flips anywhere, as well as perform some decent parkour stunts. That nullifies many of the INTP stereotypes as far as I know, but if someone speaks to me, they will quickly see that I'm a nerd.

And yes, there are many differences between geeks, dorks, and nerds. I spent some time researching the differences because they intrigued me, and I now identify myself as a nerd.

I seriously started laughing out loud, by the time I got to *SaladHunter's* post:

reads thread title*

*laughs*

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes, I do. ;)

If an INTP has a theory, they'll just dump it on you like a sandbag. No effort in trying to make it interesting. And they can have some bizarre theories. ENTPs can as well but we have the presentation skills and the self-deprecation necessary to make a joke of things, if they're not going well.

Regards small talk, I've had better conversations with office ferns.

They're so serious in everything they do. This can (and often is) a positive but is it called for all time? No.

Their obsession with Monty Python. Yes, yes, the rabbit jumps and eats people's throats. WE GET IT ALREADY.

I would call it incredibly awkward and I'm a pretty generous person. I find INFPs are just as awkward though.

True, but INFPs can be (emotionally) huggled. INTPs... "huggle is merely a portmanteau of "hug" and "cuddle"! What are these behaviours, anyway?"

At best, INTP communication problems can be cute, I guess. At worst they're damn rude. No eye contact, mumbling and so on.

And they always ask themselves (unless they're getting ready to play WoW for sixteen hours):

Is this behaviour logical? Is it rational? Am I wasting energy?

And by the time I could click back over to here and log in to post about my hysterics my brain had switched (and my mouth shut and silent) thinking: "hhmmm" that is sort of interesting that they would think those things, I wonder if everyone thinks those things, why would they think those things?... I wonder if it is because.... holy crap, in two seconds time I stopped laughing and just started dissecting why it might seem so funny to me. Dammit. I am a weirdo. "

See. THIS is funny. (I'm suddenly on a "what is funny?" kick) Because it is probably completely true, and completely understandable and reasonable that you would do so.

not our fault if the rest of the world doesn't get it at all. Or find it interesting.

Anyone want to play DnD?

It sucks man, very monotonic, requires money or grinding, requires friends.

Read 4 or 5 posts up, saw this. This is exactly me. :D
