Whatever happened to that tree that got struck by lightning, how did you end up clearing the trunk? I visited that thread for 2 weeks every day, waiting for the end result.

It's been 6 weeks now and you still haven't posted an update.

Does anyone know BigApplePi? I suspect he might have died trying to cut down a tree too close to a power line :rip:

If you aren't BAP and you're reading this, just ignore this thread.

If no one else posts in here the topic will fall into oblivion off the page and @BigApplePi may never see it!

Everybody should post to keep up right up at the top! Everyone should summon @BigApplePi in their post!

Aw well, please post link to the thread about this tree and lightening problem. Thank you.

Oh yeah? Why don't you come visit? I'll show you the tree's remains. Since you guys posted no link I don't know what I wrote so far. Sorry I didn't die on the line. I need all the power I can get.:D

Melkor. Didn't know you were goin' to come a callin'. Sometimes one has to share. The more you share, the more is left over.

This is where you left it last time.

I'm full of doubts (I went out and looked at the tree again) and have decided not to do anything without more outside opinion (Ne) that has me feel more comfortable and less responsible.

Although now that I know you're alive, the topic is a little less exciting ;)

You prefer the dead over the quick? I wonder why.

The tree is still there. (I have poor Se.) I wanted to chop the remainder down but the geometry looks like a downer will hit the power line though I think the odds are less than 50 percent. Since the tree resides in a 360 degree area, there are other downer possibilities. None look good.

A professional would climb the tree and top it. Then the rest could go down and be too short for the power line.

Another possibility is to chop it, let it bring down the power, call the power company and tell them a tree fell on it. They would have to repair the line for free. My wife votes no to that. I could chop it when she's out, but it's 12-14" around. She'd catch me in the act. My Si prefers axe and saw, not chain saw. If you want to help, here.

The last time I couldn't start my chain saw (poor Se). The attempt swoll up my hand to twice the size. The doctor said I'd have to get my ring off or I'd lose my finger. I got it off.

Suspense of course. Before you posted, there was a chance you'd either died or suffered some sort of injury while cutting down the tree. Now I know nothing's happened.

I say cut it down and see if it hits just for kicks :)
